Señors and señoritas who are fans of good Spanish cooking should fandango over to Tapas on Hindley. On offer are a series of different Tapas dishes designed to share, each more delicious than the last. My absolute favourite dish here (or probably anywhere really) is the Albondigas, a type of Spanish meatball. I've not had Albondigas elsewhere in Adelaide, and if I have, it certainly was not as memorable as the Albondigas from here. Another unassailable option is the paella which is a favourite of patrons who cha cha there heels into this Barcelona-inspired venue. There are many cocktail options, but probably the most affordable and delicious on offer are the jugs of Sangria.
In addition to the food and drink, Tapas on Hindley also provides entertainment. On Thursdays you can shimmy the night away with Salsa and on Saturday DJ's Sala and Jime will take you for a vuelta (spin). The best time to attend is Friday night, where a local and phenomenal team of flamenco dancers accompanied by equally expert guitarists and drummers, stomp and flutter for your amusement. The dance show is free for Tapas clientele who Hindley Street traffic can envy as they wander past the window.
Portion size can be very varied, but the staff will keenly rectify any under-servings. On one occasion a waiter brought a couple of my tapas out and before I said anything immediately turned around saying "no, that's not enough really is it?" and sorted my dishes out.
In summer, sitting out the front is definitely the way to go, although you will likely be accosted by the people that make Hindley Street interesting. Once when seated here a man approached the men at the table seated next to me and attempted to sell them meat packs from within a coles bag. The guys responded "yeah, I don't think I want to buy steak from a guy in the street eh?" besides, he was eating at a restaurant.
