It is so refreshing. If you're not looking hard enough you would easily miss it. Walk in and it's like the prohibition era, from the grungy shelves to the dark, moody decor and booths to the sad music. It is easily one of the best themed cocktail bars in Adelaide. Drinks are fantastic. Some bars have expensive drinks for not much and they don't taste great. Not at Baddog, they are top notch and the barman does it right in front of you on the bar so you don't miss a thing. Brilliant. Best find of the year for me so far.

The waist coats, crystal glasses and twisted stainless steel and silver spoons all work to make this a top spot for a cocktail or cheeky beer. A maestro of the common and rare cocktails and a range of spirits you wont find in many bars Zack makes this bar. Sitting at the bar is mandatory for the first drink in my opinion then sneak off to the lux booths for quiet and intimate drinks. Its dark, has very cool décor and edgy clean bathrooms. Bad Dog Bar doesn't have tvs, doesn't have pokies and doesn't have tap beer and for goodness sakes never order an apple-tini :) and that's the way we like it. Top Tip: order the pickleback - rye bourbon shot followed by some freshly made pickle juice. The SMoking Joint cocktail is also a fav!

But after a few minutes of good service and chilled out vibe I was able to relax. The place to be on The Parade is thanks to that A-Team the Trims family, who are also responsible for the equally buzzy Sparrow and The Manse. All the carry on and hoo haa about this place I reckon is well deserved, coming here is a unique experience and there's nowhere else around quite like it. You get a little drinks card to hang onto so you can order ten dollar glasses of wine and pricey food without having to actually think about how much you're paying. Last time I came here we had fries, which come out on a wooden block with an accompanying bowl of 'aerated ketchup,' which was absolutely delicious. They appear to be fans of aeration, there are also donuts with aerated chocolate sauce, and scallops with aerated almond cream. We all know how Adelaide folk like to get all worked up over new things, and I reckon this place is worth the hype.

Set to feel like a side street in a town, you will notice a subway chair on entry and three small stores. First up a deli prepping cured meat awesomeness, next up a barber and finally a recording studio. And yes, there is a barber set up on Friday night to get a cut while you enjoy a few drinks. It is quite well set up and really does create a different feeling in a bar. You are stepping off Rundle Street onto another street upstairs. In the middle you will find a long bar and a range of booths. Bottles of spirits line the back and four taps for brews. The cocktail menu has some twists to old favourites. I went for The Dreamer as I am a whisky girl. It was a good cocktail, a little acidic and fresh. It was a good cocktail, but nothing that really stands out in a crowd for $20. Next time I will order the Old Fashioned which had some coconut in it from memory. Interesting. What I really like about this bar is the aesthetics. It's almost trying to create an experience that no one else is doing with the shop fronts. I think it's quite clever. The owner here is a real sweetheart and really trying to do something different. Give it a few months and I think that this bar will be pumping! Well done for effort and looking forward to see this bar grow.

We almost walked past it, it is only an entrance door and hidden between two eateries. Up the stairs you face a subway like waiting room and a 'secret' door. Heading through you pass a sandwich bar, barber and private DJ room. We moved on straight to the bar and were greeted by friendly staff and were quick to seat us at the bar, although there was plenty of seating as it was only around 7pm. The bartender knew his stuff and quickly made me 'Pistols at Dawn' a smashing mix of chipotle fused tequila with capsicum, lime and cucumber. It was absolutely amazing and so tasty. We got to talking to the bar staff and they really knew their stuff, making my partner a cocktail off the menu. The ambience was great, music was loudish but set the scene for the NYC style bar. The seats close to the windows offered some great people watching opportunities. The menu looked great, mainly snack food but offering NYC style pastrami sandwiches, they sounded so good-why did we just have dinner!? Definitely worth putting on your cocktail list - 5 stars for service and knowledge a 5 stars for taste and accuracy. Wish I could critique the food - maybe next time. This is a bar definitely on my plus list. This reminds me of the cool funky bars you get in London or even definitely NY and I would be heading back soon for sure.

A great place to drink and not be disrupted by too much noise or, if you please you still can dance the night away - because you definitely will want to after downing a couple drinks! The main issue here: I can't remember which drinks to recommend as I always get a little tipsy...although I do recall the Long Island Iced Tea was decent - they also do funky Rainbow Shots which are fun for birthdays and the like!

Three pieces of squid into my meal I experienced stomach cramps and had to race to the bathroom to throw up. The only thing in my stomach was the squid and a little red wine so there was not much to come out. Once that was gone my cramps settled and while my stomach was uneasy I no longer felt the need to vomit. I took the mostly uneaten meal to the bar and complained, and another staff member came to my table and asked what had happened. On telling the story he offered me a discounted drink and I asked for a refund of the $24 for the meal, which he indicated he could not do. I had returned the meal largely uneaten, within a few minutes of it being served, and after I had just thrown up the only food in my stomach which was the salt and pepper squid. I had nothing to gain by lying and all I wanted was reimbursement for what was obviously a tainted meal. To clarify further, I have no food allergies and have a generally strong stomach. I cannot recall the last time food that I had eaten affected me so strongly. I have since Facebook messaged the Bath Hotel seeking a response twice - and there has been no reply. This is below par and very poor service - to not even respond to a concern puts me off going there again. I would suggest you go elsewhere if you can.

The way we were treated there was about as pleasant as getting a brick to the face. When we first arrived at around 6:30 we found a quiet spot at the bar and asked for whiskey sour's. An amazing employee named Victoria looked after us, she was beautiful and helpful and pleasant and we were looking forward to liaising with her throughout the evening. Unfortunately that was the end of the pleasantries for us at The Bath. Apparently, unbeknownst to us, we had offensively perched where two women sitting quietly at the bar minding their own business were not welcome and it was made blazingly apparent to us by a sloppy, unkempt bar employee named Sophie that we were intruding on her area and were unworthy of her attention. There was a tiny piece of paper on the bar stating that an old collegiate football team would be utilising the entire back room space behind us and having already ordered something to eat, we were told unceremoniously by an ageing, bald, chubby security guard that we would have to move ourselves. Who would think that sitting quietly at a bar would be so offensive to these entitled people. After being ignored by sloppy Sophie and made to feel so unwelcome, we wanted nothing more than to give these wankers the gift of our absence. We didn't want anything else to do with this haughty establishment and asked for a refund for the antipasto we'd not received so that we could get out of there ASAP! Sloppy Sophie informed me that we couldn't have a refund because it had already been made and we'd just have to take it when it came out of the kitchen and find somewhere to eat it. Oh yeah great service recovery there Soph you idiot smh. I requested to speak to the manager Vince who refused to even acknowledge me saying loudly, "there were signs there, it's not my problem" actually buddy yes it is your problem, that's the whole concept of your managing a restaurant you incompetent ingrate. Ugh they're really scraping the bottom of the barrel with the staff they've hired here - for Christ's sake Tony Franzon hire some actual hospitality staff equiped with some semblance of courtesy and get rid of all these prissy, arrogant, private school half wits who are fundamentally damaging your business! And hire a manager who can recognise and recover a crappy service experience because seriously Vince is costing you valuable customers! I've been told before to avoid this place and now I know first hand why I should have taken that advice. Honestly I highly recommend giving this shabby establishment a miss and instead lend your patronage to courteous, friendly, hospitable places like Stone's Throw just down the street, or Bar Torino on Hutt street where at the very least you'll be treated with decency and respect - unlike at The Bath (shudder) if anything was worthy of a 'bye Felecia' it's this place.

HOMOPHOBIC STAFF…read more Last night on the 8th of June I went to Mr Goodbar with a group of friends and ordered multiple drinks, had a good time, and made friends with a new group. However, as I was exiting the bar with my group, I stopped on the stairs to wait for a friend who was in the toilet. The bouncer approached me and asked me to exit the premises, to which I responded that I was on my way out with my group of friends, I was just waiting for a friend in the bathroom as I said I would. The bouncer responded to this in an agitated manner, telling me that I need to 'get out'. There was no commotion that proceeded this aggravated response, however my friend was exiting the bathrooms at that exact moment, to which I highlighted, stating that 'my friend is literally coming out of the bathroom right now, see? We are all leaving right now, what is the problem?' I proceeded to head down the stairs to meet my friends who were waiting on the street, and as I was exiting the door of this establishment, the bouncer went out of his way to say "that's right, get the hell out of here you faggot." I will be honest, and admit that this comment enraged me, and I responded with something along the lines of "Excuse me, what the actual f**k did you just call me? Did you just call me a faggot? Do you want to say that again??" At this response, the bouncer raised a closed fist to my face, centimetres away, tell me to f**k off, and asking if I wanted a fight. I highlighted the fact that I had a group of friends with me that numbered close to 8, challenged him to call me a faggot again, and that everyone with me was was a 'faggot' who wouldn't stand by while I was attacked. This highlighted observation prompted to bouncer to look around him, and step back within the relative protection of the establishment that he was apparently protecting. I cannot for the life of me think of what I did to prompt this aggression, and homophobia. I have many LGBTQIA+ friends who have recommended this bar to me before, and this was my first time visiting. After tonight's experience, I will be making sure to go out of my way to warn other members of the LGBTQIA+ community that this bar is both unsafe, and unwelcoming. 2/5

And you know what makes it the best? No...not the chandeliers hanging from the ceiling...or the fresh watermelon cocktail..but THE STAFF. Specifically Gian, who I met on a late Friday afternoon winding down...this very polite gentleman truly made this yelper want to stay for so much longer this afternoon. I even told him that if I didn't have to go home, I'd stay for the rest of the evening (no, I'm not gay! I'm just saying, he was the nicest bartender I have ever met in Adelaide, hands down, no question!). He obeyed my "Give me your finest, most popular, most highly recommended cocktail, my friend!" Not only that, but we talked about everything under the sun. He even taught me a few things about life! What I'm trying to emphasise is ladies, if you're looking for a single, nice, talkative, down-to-earth male bartender in Adelaide, go to Distill. I was dying from all the heat outside in Rundle Street when this place caught my eye. I've been here once before at night, but I usually don't take much notice of this place walking past during the day time. LOL Because I was the earliest one on a Friday, my $16-$22 cocktails came really quickly. I mean really - 'Love Bond' watermelon cocktail? How did you come up with that name for a drink?!? Exactly what I needed though, a bit of love bonding on a lonely Friday afternoon...I was so dehydrated before coming in, it was nice to get some refreshing ice cold drinks in me before I went home. But for a place that's been rated less stars, I don't what kinda staff -customer treatment they encountered here, but Gian really came through for me. I like that it's clean, stylish, and chic. The dim lighting, sofas and rather antique-style furniture create an intimate feel. As Penny mentioned, it is a bit of a hit and miss sometimes, especially if you're not with the right people i.e. those who just sit and sip pensively, with the occasional straw-stir and pout. However, most times I've had a great night. Another reason why I like Distill is the cocktails! My favourite would have to be the Viper Room. Come on, you can't possibly say anything is better than strawberry jam at the bottom of your drink. They also have a neat little photo booth in the corridor on the way to the toilets. Around midnight they start telling people to line up if they want to go upstairs. Now, this is fair enough if upstairs is packed, but sometimes I get there and it's half empty. However, they play good songs and the staff are pretty nice compared to some similar venues. Once they even had a bed upstairs as part of the furniture. This came in handy for my friend who decided to take a little snooze after one too many drinks, and for the photo-addicted who based every pose around that bed. So it's no Vodka Bar, but it will have to do for now.
