A good middle of the road pub on a stretch of St Clair West which doesn't have a lot of not high end options or Wise Guys. Ive been here a lot since the demise of Daves (RIP) Standard Pub food and lots of rotating taps from actual microbreweries across Ontario. I've now been here twice, and I can say with confidence that this is my go to neighbourhood pub. I have nothing bad to say. The food, the service, and their attentiveness to Covid-19 health procedures were all A+. I came here recently with my partner and our best friends and their son. Our waiter was wonderful. We were being a bit picky and had a bunch of requests, and he accommodated all of them with a smile (or should I say "smize" b/c he had a mask on the whole time). My friend and I shared the nachos and the special (a lamb burger). So much food, and so delicious. My partner had the chicken sandwich and said it was to die for. My other friend had the pulled pork sandwich and her plate was bare at the end of dinner! I had a few bites of my partner's sexy fries (aka truffle parmasean fries) and they were sooooo good. read more

I love Tap Works!! They have a solid draft list and even more options in cans. The standout is the food though! I've eaten there a handful of times and it's always great. Last time I had their double smash burger and it was perfect with crispy patties and a fluffy bun. The portion sizes are huge. This spot isn't the most trendy (it is on St Clair after all) but this place's chill atmosphere sets it apart from the cookie cutter chains or absolute dives that tend to dominate Midtown. There's usually a mixed crowd of regulars, families, young people. They manage to always have a chill playlist going with movies or sports playing on the many TVs. The service is prompt and friendly. Washrooms are spotless. This has become my go to spot when I want an unpretentious evening with solid food, drinks, and service. read more

Visited for a lil Friday night date with my husband. We've lived in the area for close to a decade but ironically usually find ourselves going out anywhere but our own neighborhood. When we arrived, it was very busy (a good sign!) so the server asked if we'd like to wait for a table. As we were looking for both dinner and drinks, we chose to wait for a table. It took about 30 minutes to get a table but no worries as we were perched on stools with a narrow shelf just across from the bar and enjoyed a couple of craft beers over our conversation. When we finally got seated, our server very apologetically asked if she could take the second half of our table for other customers and physically removed it when we obliged. It was totally fine but we were for sure squeezed into our remaining table for two. We did have a good laugh about it. For our dinner, my husband ordered the hot/spicy fried chicken, and I opted for mac n cheese with a side greens salad. Hubby said he liked the chicken but it wasn't the best he had. It also seemed odd to serve on regular white bread. The mac n cheese was tasty but I feel like it could have used salt/flavour. Salad was fresh and tasty. Overall, I'd say the food was 3.75 stars out of 5 but since we did enjoy our experience, beer selection, plus it's so close to home, we will return again. read more

I would say this is the best bar on St. Clair west (though I haven't checked out True History yet). A surprisingly stellar beer selection for north of Bloor (Jutsu and Shumei frequently on tap, say no more). While the food here isn't quite on the level of the tap selection, they do decent Mac and cheese and nachos, and it's clear that they put some thought into the menu. Not the chattiest bar, more a place to meet up with a buddy. read more

A nice addition to the neighbourhood. This is an upscale pub with a good sized selection of local beers. We just came for drinks after dinner, so I didn't get a chance to try any of the food. The food choices are what you'd expect, elevated pub stuff with some interesting choices, including vegetarian items you wouldn't normally see. The place itself has a comfortable vibe and decor. The Hubster related it to the new pubs that are going up in Orillia. Sort of nouveau Muskoka chic. It's a good middle between the more casual Dave's and the upscale restobars in the area. TLDR: Rude staff Extremely disappointing and unprofessional experience. Went for a drink on a Friday at 10:30 with a group of five. Walked in and was immediately greeted from across the bar by an extremely arrogant bartender who snidely yelled "1,2,3,4,5 SORRY NOT GONNA HAPPEN!" for all the patrons of the place to hear. Upon noticing a possibly empty table someone from my group got closer to see if it was indeed free and able to fit us and the same bartender once again snidely yelled for all to hear "SORRY GUYS." No further interaction or explanation other than that occurred. So we left. A member of my party called the bar shortly after to file a complaint for the extremely rude staff member at which point they were informed this wasn't the first time this has happened. Completely unnecessary to treat potential patrons in this manor. If your idea of a good time is getting talked to like a misbehaving child the moment you walk into an establishment, this place is for you. Otherwise steer clear and head somewhere else, there are plenty of great places in the area with much better service and offer a more inviting environment. read more

Tap Works is one of the few craft beer options on this end of St. Clair. Fortunately, they have a Great variety of regional options and also keep a craft cider on tap for those who are not beer fans. I come for the beer, but I come back for the food. On a cold day the Mac n cheese with (or without) smoked pork is a perfect choice for keeping yourself warm inside. The burgers are just downright delicious and made in a variety of creative ways. My friend had a Montreal smoked brisket and she said it was great. Fries are amazing. Staff are nice. Nothing to complain about. It's a great pub. There's quite a few like it in Toronto, but no others in this area. read more

Best neighbourhood pub EVER. Great food with exceptional service. This has been open for a couple of years and maintains the excellent standards it opened with. It's very clean, including the tap lines- I usually get a headache with draft beer, however, that has never been the case here. The menu changes occasionally to even better dishes, the beer types change as well- it just keeps getting better! It's our favourite local hangout. It's just nice enough to keep out the local bar flys (often seen hanging around other local establishments) I think the owner, who is always there, runs a tight ship and keeps it that way! Menu options were just right, good variety for most dietary trends. Marie was our server--absolutely great, very attentive and friendly. We ordered the Grilled Cheese, with caramelized onions-amazing! From multi-grain bread to the overall presentation, just yummy. We also ordered the brioche bun, fried egg, peameal bacon, aioli, and melted brie-blew my mind it was so good. In addition, yes there was more, we had the Lemon-Ricotta Pancake special with whip cream and a blueberry compote. I can say with absolute honesty that I have never had pancakes that made me stop talking so that I could savor every bite. All this for under $60, ( my partner and I share everything). The food wasn't bad. We went for brunch and there was only one lady in there, she had very bad waitressing skills and didn't even ask if we wanted drinks. About 50 minutes later we got our food, it wasn't bad, but it wasn't the best, considering it took so long we were there for so long along with one other person. When it began to get busy it was chaos, there was two waitresses and one bar tender, who mind you, when the waitresses were rushing around trying to make sure everyone was served he just stood there watching them, when the bar life died down. The waitress didn't even look us in the eyes and avoided eye contact while looking at us, and never asked if we needed anything. Great addition to the neighbourhood. Traditional pub fare but elevated to a higher standard. The fish and chips was crispy and not greasy, the burger is solid and the sweet potato fries were perfectly coked and a little spicy. We ordered a second batch! They carry a strong selection of Ontario micro brews on draft as well as in bottles and tall boys. Blood Brothers beers being one example. There are 3 big tv screens for sports but thankfully they are all at the back of the pub so if you'd rather sit in a non-screen environment there are several tables at the front where the screens are not very visible. We've been to Tap Works two times since it opened and the service has been great. The waitress remembered us and our order the second time we went, which was impressive. The first time we got the flat bread appetizer and it was very good in size, and quite flavourful. The second time, we got the chorizo mac n' cheese, the spinach dip, and the Korean ribs & kimchi rice. I will definitely be back for the ribs, they were scrumptious! I had ordered the house radler and wasn't really impressed, so our waitress offered to take it off the bill, which was a nice gesture. I've had the chianti and an amber beer there, and both were really good. I will definitely be back. Great service and great food. read more
