I prioritize supporting small local businesses, but will never set foot in Taos or the Lavender shop ever again. Complete scam businesses fronting as an antique store, but only profiting off of fraudulent parking tickets. The owner of Taos owns the parking lot behind the shop. There are signs posted that say parking is free if you are in either business. If you try to pay, it costs $100 for 2 hours. For reference, most parking in this area is free. $100 is completely unreasonable. As I went into the businesses and the sign clearly says free parking if going into the businesses, we did not pay. Despite following the rules, we were surprised to find a $186.35 ticket on our car. The car parked in front of us also had the same situation happen to them. Upon a quick Google review, I see that GLIDEPARC is a scam company and has no way to enforce these tickets as it is not a local government parking company. The cost to park is unreasonable. The cost of the ticket is unreasonable. And the act of writing the ticket, even to customers following the rules and inside of the businesses, is unreasonable. For these reasons, the tickets are not legally enforceable but I feel bad for anyone who may be misled by them! This is a complete scam and the owner of Taos should be ashamed of himself. read more

They charge you $100 to park unless you enter the store then it's free (which we did). For reference the city offers free parking in Old Town. We then saw a $186 parking fee. I love all things Southwest, so I decided to check out the store last month. Not long after I entered the store, a guy came out of the office. He said hi and then told me that he can hear the door open when his Father cannot. FYI, his Father can see people walk inside because he is beyond the counter. While I was looking around, the son followed me into the different areas of the store. I felt like he did not trust me and thought that I was going to steal something, i am not a thief. After I was done looking around, I walked towards the door and the son went back into the office. There was a couple pieces of SW pottery that I wanted to buy. They were very similar to the pottery that I have at home, but when I found how much they cost, I changed my mind. I am not paying over $80.00 for small SW pottery. Even horse hair pottery. I can buy less expensive SW pottery in Arizona, New Mexico and even here in Southern California. To the owners of the store, stop treating your customers like thieves and bring your prices down. You are charging too much money for the items that you sell. Also, you really should wear masks in your store. People are still dying from Covid-19. read more

Wow ! TTT's Native American/Indian jewelry selection is wonderful. I barely noticed the other items in this shop. I'm all about the jewelry. I was able to look into the jewelry display cases as thoroughly as I wished. I purchased 2 pairs of earrings. The prices were comparable to prices I've seen for similar quality earrings. The 2 gentleman in the shop are great conversationalists. Don't skip talking with them. read more

I'll start by saying that we have shopped at Taos in the past and, until yesterday, thought highly of the establishment. That was before we were the victims of an extortion scheme carried out by the owner of Taos Traders and Glideparcs Parking Enforcement. It started when we parked in a spot behind Taos. As a private lot it was posted to pay online or that parking was free while shopping at Taos. We intended to go into Taos, but first needed to pick up an item at Cheryl's Antiques, which is almost next door. Because we were going to the other store first, we attempted to pay online. That's when the farce began. After scanning the posted QR Code, the message we received said the fee was $100.99 for two hours. We made the assumption that there was an electronic error, because we've never seen rates that high anywhere! So, naively, we decided to pick up our item first, then go to Taos. Less than ten minutes later, we returned with the intention of putting the item in our car and proceeding to Taos. Instead, we found a ticket from Glideparcs Enforcement in the amount of $170. I immediately went into Taos and tried to have a rational conversation with the owner. No such luck. He admitted to owning the lot, but claimed the company he leased it to set the rate. He refused to discuss it any further. As a longtime resident of Temecula, knowing our City depend on tourism, individual business owners should not be engaged in practices which drive tourists away. read more

The owners of the store were very helpful in answering our questions with what we were looking for. Can't say enough good things about the selection and service. Very rude people in this store, I was coming in there to shop and buy some jewelry for my girls it was me and 3 of my children, I walked in and the gentleman told me only two at a time. I get that is the rules of the store but when I walked in there with me and 3 kids the guy said two of the children had to wait outside, I was like no thanks I am not about to leave two of my children outside by themselves then the guy said well I guess you can't shop here. read more

I visited the store while on a trip to the area from MI and was greeted by friendly and knowledgeable staff. I made a small purchase while there. While there, I inquired about a commissioned piece of art I was interested in purchasing as a gift. When I returned home, I was able to communicate over the phone and through email without any trouble, to obtain the piece I wanted as a gift. The gift was for my mentor, and I wanted it to have significant meaning and symbolism. I had a ton of questions, all of which were answered with sources to do my own research as well. After ordering the piece, I was sent updates and pictures of the packaging and tracking information immediately. The certificate of authenticity was placed neatly inside of a card and envelope. The statue that I ordered was expertly wrapped and arrived timely and unharmed. It was beautiful and exactly what I envisioned. I keep in touch with the owners and have obtained 2 pieces of art for my own personal collection, both of which arrived the same way, and are displayed beautifully in my office. Despite being across the country, I know that if I am looking for something specific, I can send a message or place a phone call and receive great advice and/or personalized selections of art to my taste. read more

Turn off your damn cell phones people, you are entering some sort of sanctuary. At least that's what it felt like. The ambient music along with the bright turquoises, oranges, and reds as the background are exactly what my husband and I needed this weekend. There were a lot of signs directing you on what not to do, so when I picked up a dreamcatcher to purchase I made sure I touched the right one. After we were done looking I put our items on the counter and the cashier was really chatty and we shared a few laughs. All in all, I felt as if the folks there lit up after we purchased some things and hey I would lit up too if someone was giving me money. If your looking for quality Native American collections, this is the place to go. The owner can answer any of your questions regarding the pieces and they don't push you to buy. I love going during the Christmas holiday because the store and store front are always very beautifully decorated. The prices are not too bad either. It is located in one of the downtown original buildings (prior to the 3 or more story buildings they are putting in downtown now), and has the look of visiting an old trading stop. My experiences with this store was outstanding and the Veteran soldier that help me was incredibly friendly, polite and helpful in describing his merchandise. Being a Veteran myself we talked about our military time and he even offered to hold our purchase until we finished strolling through Old Town.
