I have been going to this place for several years. But no longer. The massage was very good. The receptionist is unfriendly. Today she told me that leaving a $10 tip (16.6%) for a $60 service is inadequate. She told me that she and management do not want me to return. I was the only client in today. It is difficult to run a business, especially a service business, with an attitude such as that. How many other clients have had similar situations? I wanted to give this place 5 stars... I'll start with the good. Peter. Amazing. He knew what he was doing, Checked in, and had good pressure. Honestly one of the best massages of my life. If we would have received 2 good massages 5/5 no doubt. The "bad" would be the other massage. It's so disappointing to us because we made a call and asked for 2 males (knowing from experience we would receive good pressure and experience it seems) . We also said we would come at a different time if we needed. When we arrived the manager seemed to be yelling at someone on the phone.. and I don't know what she was saying however my mom ended up being massaged by 2 different people 1 who had absolutely no experience, as well was talking throughout the entire massage. The person with no experience continued to do the same thing over and over. When using the hot stones this person when up and down the back one time. As well as barely spent any time on the feet. Since we received two massages we know was expected and should have been done. I wish they would have just been honest with us if the second person was late or we needed to reschedule. I have been coming here regularly for quite a while, at least two years. unfortunately last night marked my last time there. I made an appointment for 4pm with a female therapist, as I am uncomfortable with male therapists. I arrived and a man came to take me back, I was not expecting this and was uncomfortable with saying I preferred a female therapist so I went. my mistake. it was genuinely the worst and most unprofessional massage I have ever had. it seemed like he had no experience at all. the massage strokes were fast and rough, not relaxing at all. I had to ask him multiple times to use less pressure. it was the most unpleasant and stressful massage of my life. it's now the day after and I'm having even more pain in new areas of my back - not the good pain that comes with knowing that your muscle tension is melting away, but the bad pain that comes from abuse of the muscles. not only that, but the price increased significantly, which I was not made aware of. I just went here for the first time in a couple of months. Typically, I love going here because the price is great for what you get. $45 body massage ? can't beat that. But today I found out that the price has raised not just a couple of dollars but to $63!! That is absurd. I have recommended so many people here because of the price and the quality that you get. Haven't been to the foot spa in a long time. I was pleasantly surprised by the wonderful experience I had here. You go into a nice, dark cool quiet bed. Lie on your back they cover your eyes and your body with a blanket and massage your feet with something that felt like a butter! They proceed to do your calves, and then at the end, they use hot rocks to soothe your muscles. Then you get a neck and upper back massage which felt amazing! I did not realize how badly I really needed to get my circulation going and get the knots out. It was the best 25 minutes of my week and I can't wait to go back again. I have been a monthly (and often bi-weekly) customer of Tao for years. It was one of my favorite splurges. I don't know if they are now under new ownership, but their prices have continually gone up (which I understand is necessary) but the quality has consistently gone down. The last few times the person doing the foot massage seemed untrained and not only did a poor job but occasionally did a painful job (I did notify management so they could improve) but this last time they also stopped doing hot stone and massaging the back. I can accept higher prices but not along with a loss of service or poor quality. read more

I haven been here many times - often excellent, always very good. They are generally efficient and on time. I recently booked a massage and was called an hour before my appointment start time to let me know they had to move my appointment out an hour and a half - which was not possible for me. The reason they gave was that the previous customers arrived late. If someone arrives late - their massage should be cut short in my opinion versus the establishment adversely impacting other customers. My overall impression is that they are not reliable in keeping their appt times which is unfortunate. read more

They made me take off my clothes which is fine but then started pulling down my underwear and my 2 family members that were with me had the same experience and we all just felt super weird. I have been going to Tao for many years, even at their old location. In the last year since they moved to Federal Highway the level of noise and activity have increased significantly. I have spoken to the manager, the front desk reception on many occasions. The issue is never addressed and remains extremely distracting. This is supposed to be a peaceful place to enjoy a massage and it's experiences. I have continued going for the simple fact That the therapists are very good at what they do. It's not about the actual service that I'm writing this. Last Sunday the person doing my massage had to leave me 4 times to go ask the people in the lobby to be quiet. The receptionist had no control whatsoever over the clients waiting And never does. People are so unaware of their surroundings it's astonishing to me. They also allowed two young boys around 6 and 8 to come in with their father. They were on iPads and you could hear their headphone noise. They spoke loudly the entire time disturbing everyone. Nothing was done. I personally won't be going back and my hope is that the owner sees this and corrects the situation. They have very good massage therapists, it's a shame it's run so poorly. read more

I have been to the old location and other tao foot spas so I know how this works. I usually go with my husband and have never had a complaint like this, just the usually 'not the best massage' if anything. THIS time I went by myself for the 90 min feet and body combo - and not to say that should have been the reason - but I immediately felt like I was getting groped all over my inner thighs and extremely near my inner you know what, more times than a few.... Also my butt was massaged very erotically, not a glute massage that I usually like. I went to lay on my back and the same was done to my front inner thighs and even on top of my lower pelvic - as a pass by feel and even the few slaps that they do. Oh yea, he leans over my body at the top of the table, nearly suffocating me with his belly as he slides his hands down mine (while I'm face down). Pretty sure by the 3rd time I realized he's placing his you know what on the back of my head. I feel disgusted and PISSED. I will not be going back and this is my thank you... I've been here in the past with no issues. Today I used a $50 gift card for 1 hour appt. I scheduled for 11:15. I arrived at 11:11. My service started at 11:15. In the middle of my service a woman comes in and speaks mandarin to the guy who was with me. I speak and understand a bit of mandarin but could not decipher the whole conversation. I assume she was telling him to end early because they had more people coming. They kicked me out at 12pm. 45 minutes instead of one hour. My $50 gift card was for their 60 minute service. Not 45 minutes. Their lobby was packed when I stepped out. When I said why was my service only 45 minutes ? They had the audacity to argue with me and say I started the service early. I knew what time I started cause I looked at my phone. It was not early. In reality they ended my service early because they had to accommodate the people that had just arrived. I will never be back again after this selfish maneuver on their part. read more

My mom has been talking about Tao for months, so I treated her to a girls day for her birthday. I was a little weary only because I'm not used to getting massages, but after my experience I'm already planning my next visit! The woman at the front desk greeted us with a smile (I had made a 60 minute appointment online--you get an extra 10% off by doing this!) and lead us to the main room. The room is very dark and dimly lit with large leather chairs lined up. They play serene, calming music to help you relax. Once you are seated in the room, you get a shoulder, arm, and back massage for a good amount of time. Then they seat you in the oversized chair, recline you, cover you with a blanket, tuck you in, and give you a foot massage (I was initially uncomfortable with the idea but it was SO relaxing!). When it was over, I didn't want to leave! I can't wait to return. Thinking this may have to be a monthly thing! read more

I have been here several times, and just like with a regular massage, I think the experience depends on your masseuse. Today I had an hour-long reflexology, and it was a pretty average experience. The masseuse spent around 40 minutes in the same exact same spots on my feet, which after a while, started to actually hurt. The head and neck massage was great, though! I have been here several other times, however, and have had a wonderful experience. I think your best bet is to arrive and explain what you would like beforehand. Have always loved Taking but was a bit disappointed on this round. I've always gotten the o r hour full body and it's always included an actual foot massage. Apparently., you have to pay for 10 extra minutes for feet to be included in the "body works" (most expensive) massage option. It's a foot massage place so I'm confused. Unbeknownst to many, a few years ago it was I who first reviewed Tao and put them on the Yelp Map. But as of late I've been bombarded with complaints from people who have recently experienced the "American horror story" called Tao Foot Spa. Because of this, I've been compelled to expose what Tao has become and narrate my most recent experiences. It is with great reluctance that I write this updated review, I truly loathe writing downgraded reviews for what once was a precious gem.u U In the beginning Tao was great, truly a class act, it was unique among the orgy of foot spa's in the East Boca corridor. When Tao first opened for business the owner always greeted you with a bountiful smile, she always offered every customer a choice of white or red wine. The owner would always personally lead the foot massage debutantes with her arm clasped around theirs through the sound proofed double doored entrance to the dimply lit nirvana like massage area. But all of that eventually changed once Tao became a household name on Yelp. What was once an utopia for pleasure seekers, transformed into a conservative narcissistic revolving door of credit card swipes. 1st instance: I was courting a rather attractive brunette and had decided to purchase a 60 minute gift certificate for her at Tao. What pissed me off was when she informed me that the employee's never offered her any wine. 2nd instance: When I went to Tao the employee's didn't offer me any wine either, the last few times I went there before I divorced this place, I had to constantly ask them for them for it. 3rd instance: My masseuse stopped working there. I hardly had a choice for a new female masseuse as they're all dudes except for one or two. The last thing I want to experience is some dude doing the dance with my toes. 4th instance: I tried this one girl who was void of any hand strength at all. Worse when I told her to apply more pressure she said no lol What was truly special about her massage technique was she spent a majority of the time just twisting my toes. I was like what the flying hell is this? Twisting toes is not a foot massage, if a masseuse is twisting your toes its because they are to lazy to do a real foot massage, and want to get paid for doing nothing. 5th instance: As Tao became more popular, service devolved into a conveyor belt like experience, personalized service became non-existent. They also forced a few more recliners in the massage room, so instead of having well spaced airy feel, you felt more like a sardine in a can. I used to drive from South Broward every other weekend to experience the realms of pleasure at Tao, but now you have a better chance of getting me to the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) than to this place. There are just to many foot massage options in the East Boca area to subject oneself to this crap. read more

I needed to write this review since no one at Tao Foot Spa bothered to ask me WHY I didn't leave my "masseuse" a tip. They simply followed me out the front door in front of 4 of my friends and several strangers and embarrassed me by asking IF I tipped. Then they stormed back inside when I told them I could not leave a tip because this was the most painful, non-relaxing 55 minutes of my life. When the 5 of us showed up on time for our reservation, we were not even greeted... we were immediately led into the very dark & quiet room with absolutely no direction. The people that work here obviously know that when you first walk into the dark room, you can't see a thing until your eyes adjust. I was given no direction until I sat on the wrong part of the seat. A smile and 10 seconds of giving your customer's some direction before being herded into a dark room would certainly be appreciated. So the neck-rub part starts and I immediately realize this guy (Nick) is taking out his frustrations on me. He was pressing his elbows into my neck and shoulders until I felt like my head was going to fall off into the water basket that my feet were soaking in. After wincing and cringing for about 5 minutes, I finally told Nick it was too hard. He lightened up very slightly for a few minutes. After the back & neck torture ended, I laid on my back thinking it could only get better. I was wrong. I think he was trying to dislocate my rotator cuffs, break a few knuckles and give me shin splints! I had to tell him again he was hurting me, but either he didn't hear me (I know he heard me) or he didn't care. Nick punched me, slapped me, elbowed me, karate-chopped me and poked me with his Uma Thurman-like thumbs as if I were cattle. He never spoke a word to me, he ignored my two requests to lighten his touch, and then he had the NERVE to follow me outside to tell me I didn't tip him. Nick, you're lucky I didn't kick you in the balls when you were done. Maybe then you would have known what my 55 minutes with you felt like. read more
