I expected to just pick a package off of the menu and hop into my bed, but this tanning salon has a completely different approach. Patty, who also happens to be the owner, asked me questions to make sure that she was making the best recommendation tailored to my specific needs. In just a few short moments, she found out why I was there and how long my timeframe was. Instead of trying to sell me the most expensive package, she sold me the one that was best for me, which actually resulted in me saving money. I wanted a lotion during my visit and she was very patient while explaining the pros and cons and answering my questions. She was so personable and really explained everything in detail. The salon itself is huge and I loved my bed (I used a Level 2). Everything was very clean and well kept. Also, you can upgrade your bed on Fridays for half off! I went yesterday 2/1 there was a note posted that you'd be open again on 2/1 and yet you were closed. Please advise when you will be opened again...? I came here for the first tan of the season. I asked to go in for 7 minutes so I could get some color but not burn About three hours later I was completely burnt. I was burnt so badly that I was unable to slept that night or go to the beach the next morning. I called back the next day to see what could have happened and found out that Amanda put me in for a full 10 minutes and not the 7 I asked for. She also rushed me by knocking on my door a few times while I was in there. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. read more

As a first time tanner I was nervous and apprehensive about tanning because of the health risks. I do have a bad tan line that shows when I put on my wedding gown so I wanted to try and even it out now that we are two weeks away from the wedding. I have now been to Tansmania twice. I purchased a buy four get one free package for the level 2 tanning. As a first time customer you receive a free level 1 session to try. So essentially I obtained six sessions. I was nervous at first but the woman behind the desk, Silvia, was helpful, friendly, attentive, and caring. The stand up booth seems the way to go but I tried the lay down and stand up. The lay down one seems more relaxing but the stand up feels to me to be the more even tan. I'm no expert on tanning so I recommend you do your research and read up before going...which is how I came about Tansmania and knowing before going in to make sure they offer you eye protection, etc. I brought my own lotions but they also sell them at the location (yelp check in gets you a discount off them). I wouldn't go here again after my wedding is over (for health reasons I try to minimize over sun exposure) but I certainly feel that this location was well kept, clean, and efficient. Every time I went into a booth Silvia ensured that the booths were cleaned/wiped down. That was definitely a must for me! read more

I love this place. The tanning beds are always clean. The owners are intimately involved in making sure their customers are satisfied. I started the body wraps and in 5 short visits I lost over 4 lbs, 4 inches around my waist, 3 inches in my hips and 1 inch off each thigh for a total of 2 inches. Overall I lost 9 inches, 5 lbs and 2 pant sizes! I've maintained that loss in inches over the last 6 months with routine exercise. I recommend this place to everyone!!! read more

Employees are very nice and personable which makes it hard to give this place a bad review. I worked at a tanning salon from HS into my college years and I know the employees have nothing to do about this. To them I give 5 stars. I bought a month in their level 2 bed, I tanned at this location daily for 2 weeks straight; I even upgraded to their "fastest" tanning bed a few times and still no color. Either the bulbs they use are poor quality or they don't get changed. After the two weeks I finally got upset and joined beach bum and after the first session the difference was night and day. Beach bum is a few dollars more than this place but at least you get results and after one week at beach bum I look like I have been on vacation. Save your money if I could I'd give no stars. read more

Finally reviewing after I kept forgetting from last year. I wanted a spray tan for my wedding, but wanted a trial first to make sure I'd like it. I found a coupon for buy one, get one free. I think it was $25, so technically $25 for two which is a great price. I got the "trial" and the girls at the desk were nice and explained how to use the machine (I hadn't had a spray tan since I was 16 so I forgot how to use the machine!) I followed all directions and then left. Took until night time to develop and the next day I noticed how streaky and orange I was and how it missed an entire part of my arm... I did all I could in there to ensure I got all parts of my body. It still came out orangy even if I had gotten every inch of my body. I decided I didn't want to go back because it would have looked horrible for my wedding! So glad I did a trial but overall, I did not like how the spray tan looked and I did not use my "bogo session" and will not be returning. The place was very nice and clean though! read more

Let me just preface this with saying I have been a loyal customer for over 2 years. Never had a problem. Loved it here actually. With that being said, since the new ownership the manager has been EXTREMELY rude and EXTREMELY unhelpful. she charged my card over $100 in one week for a $40 a month membership and then proceeded to tell me it was my fault & that she explained everything to me. Why would I sign up to be charged over 100 in a week when i could've just waited til the first to be charged $60 for all of november. I was NEVER explained this. not offered a refund, instead just bickered with me in front of the entire store of customers. It was extremely unprofessional & she was absolutely no help. I miss my old experience here & now i am stuck in a contract that was NEVER explained to me. they're just hungry for money here with 0 consideration for their customers. saddest part is it was the manager herself. I moved to Piscataway and tried to find a place a little closer and struck out all over. I went back to Tansmania and will now always go back without question. First let me say that upon calling this salon the girl on the phone had no clue of pricing or what products they used in the spray tan booth. When I got there the salon was so dark inside.. again the girl at the desk was clueless about pretty much everything and had to make several calls to the manager. She puts me in the spray room with no towel nothing under my feet to keep from getting stained and says just hit the button. I press start and I'm waiting for instructions but nothing happened the spray just started coming out so only one side of me got sprayed.. I called out to the girl asking if she could reset it because there was no instruction and I missed my other side.. she proceeds to tell me I would have to pay again!!! Bad business. Before I went here, I had never tanned in a tanning bed. I had a great experience. Employees at the front desk were helpful and nice. I did have two not so great experiences. First, they didn't clean the bed one time that I was getting into and then forgot to put the time back on while cleaning it last minute. And another time I changed rooms to a different bed (bc the one I always went to was occupied) and I burned. I was on the same amount time that I always do and the same type of bed, I think the bed wasn't cleaned properly bc i only burned on my back. I liked this place a lot and would recommend, however they don't really keep tabs on cleaning the beds too much and it can be a problem if someone burns. read more

I purchase formostar body wrap treatment and I was very pleased with service and stuff until I got opportunity meet owner of this place. First of all I notice this place provide a lot of sweating treatment and no water, I was surprised and then when owner told me he had a water before and some customers made negative review about brand of the water, he decide to get rid off at all. WHO CARES, just because one give you negative don't have short temper for other customers who planning to continue coming to your salon...in almost 100 degree weather people get thirsty after all. And second I don't care what owner can afford and what can't, I coming to your business and spend my money for your provide services and don't want to hear... I have provide my own towel for shower, and towels for massage customers only and cause they paid little more than me. That was very unprofessional and rude. This is America land of good morals and qual service for all people. If you want your business grow learn to be polite and appreciate your customers who actually keep your business running, and stop give them attitude like you doing them a favor. Came to do the formostar wrap. The guy was very friendly the first time wrapping me. He even gave me an open bottle of water where was says "poland spring" and the test was telling me that the water came from the near lake. Then he probably expected a tip, even there is no tips in tanning salons. So he started giving me faces next time I came and no water, and was less friendly. read more
