Don't let the overall rating scare you those reviews are outdated. The workers here are extremely knowledgeable and have helped me a lot. They aren't trying to upsell you but rather help you find what's right for your needs. Some things in Tandy are well priced and others are overpriced, but given this is a chain that pricing issue isn't on any individual location so I won't judge them too much on that. This is pretty much a one stop shop if you want to make something out of leather. read more

I love coming here to grab supplies. Pricing is competitive with other similar quality leather/craft supply shops. If you have any questions or are looking for advice, it can be hit or miss. They do have some friendly and knowledgeable employees- but some won't even acknowledge you when you walk into the shop. I have asked questions and was met with either a wealth of information or simply told to "google it". Nice stock of stuff. Usually they have everything in stock that I need. Leather is a little pricy- but that's everywhere now. It's nice having a semi-near by Tandy location! read more

Found this place when looking for a punch to make holes for grommets in a garment I was sewing. The two men that were there were very helpful and assisted me in getting the correct punch and making sure I had the proper tools for the grommet installation itself. I think the quality of goods was amazing for the price. Always nice to find somewhere that you can shop in person rather than online!! read more

I have never ever worked with leather before, but have a project that called for leather straps. Not only does Tandy leather have an amazing selection in store, their staff is also very knowledgeable and great at answering your questions. Jason helped me find exactly what I needed and answered every question I had on how to use the products I was purchasing and the best way to go about my project. I really appreciate all the assistance, and recommend this to anyone in need of leather/ leather crafting tools. Very cool place. read more

Tandy Leather Factory - My order - Leather Goods Near Me - Tempe, Arizona

cassandra is a gem to say the least. Claiming she's the assistant manager, when we asked to speak to a manager. Sadly Tandy, their product quality and their personnel have fallen. Go in to return a leather belt that was cracked. She refused to return the belt. It was bought under our account, but they couldn't find it. They "changed" to a new system and it wasn't in there. Aside from the fact that they put the name in the account in WRONG. They more than likely sold it to the wrong account. I assumed the information was saved in the system and didn't keep the receipt. read more

They are always really nice in here and super helpful with picking out items. They have a great selection and knowledgeable staff and we always make it a point to stop by whenever we're in the neighborhood. read more

Recently started crafting with leather. As a beginner I have lots to learn. I was really excited to see there was a local leather shop. The prices were extremely competitive compared to most online retailers. The staff were extremely friendly. Definitely a place I will be returning to. I went on a Saturday and it wasn't too busy. read more

We have visited this place several times. The staff is always friendly and the store is loaded with great deals and supplies. They also offer great discounts to military individuals and we thought it would be a nice hobby for someone who was going to be stationed away from home. They helped with the selection of hides and gift ideas. In addition to tools and hides, you can find a good choice of dies, hardware and kits. This is a great place to get started on a new hobby. read more

Wasted a lot of time and gas on a fool's errand driving 80 min because they told me over the phone that they had a lot of the exact kind of leather product I was looking for. They lied, out of laziness to actually check if they had what I was looking for or maliciously to try and get some foot traffic. Do not believe whatever it is they tell you on the phone. read more

In these COVID-19 times, it's refreshing to learn something new...and these folks are quite helpful and friendly! They have a huge selection of leathers, supplies and tools. Most incredible, though, are their staff and their knowledge. I can't thank them enough for helping me learn a new skill. read more

I needed rivets for project. Not only did I buy the rivets but I was given a lesson on how to use them what tools I need to set the rivets. I received great customer service. I felt like I was the only customer in the store. I will recommend Tandy in Tempe. I am going back to take some classes. They are just great people I had a great experience at this store. The products was great and oh the double sized tape I can't live without it now. Go take some classes. Go buy the best quality products around!!! read more

Very helpful. Love the new pink leather! Discount program seems to have changed so I need to inquire.

Great selection but what sold me was the staff they were helpful and informative and so nice and being a newbie to leather crafting they answered questions and explained everything and didn't make me feel like a dummy I'm so happy I found this place read more

Tandy Leather Factory - Glad I found this gem. Thank u Mr Stewart and Ms bella - Leather Goods Near Me - Tempe, Arizona

Thought about starting to work with leather and this place was close to Mesa. The store was great with many different things and was clean. Unfortunately, the ladies behind the counter were unhelpful and one was incredible rude. Sorry to walk into a business and expect to be helped. Maybe I'll have better luck online. read more

Not sure what is going on with this location. Last couple of months they have been out of stock in a lot of hardware. Yesterday, only one sales person in the store at 4:30 in the afternoon. She didn't know how to apply the discount to my order with the flyer I have received in the mail from them. She tried calling the "manager" on his cell phone and the manager wouldn't answer. Simply said "sorry can't do it" I am not going back! Wish there was an option for "No Star" rating read more

Just visited this location for the first time. The blonde female employee with leather bracelets on was super unhelpful. When asked a question she was vague, short, and glaringly uninterested. She wanted nothing to do with helping me. Very disappointing experience for someone who wanted to create something for the first time and had basic questions. I will never understand employees who treat customers like they are bothering them and wasting their time. I can see from the reviews that I am not the only one to have such a negative experience with this business. I ended up not purchasing anything but walking out extremely frustrated and disappointed. I was ready to spend a few hundred dollars on supplies here but I will not be back. read more

Great selection of hides they also have leather tooling for those fun projects you have going on. They do have cow hides with hair still on them, then also tanned hides as well read more

I have a work project involving leather that had me befuddled in terms of construction and other major issues, so I went to Tandy looking for solutions. Glad I did. Dillon and Melissa were very friendly and welcoming. Dillon answered all of my questions, provided some great info on materials, brought up thoughtful suggestions and solutions, and showed me the right products to use. Basically every checkmark for good service was hit during my visit. Service like that is becoming a rarity, so when it happens you tend to take notice. I don't usually get many leather projects at work, but the next time I do get one I know exactly where I'll be going. read more

I don't know what is going with Tandy, but they need to get their act together. I place orders with them to be shipped and lately with every order they are out of stock or my order is split between several stores. I am never notified and some stores ship UPS and others ship USPS. When I get the order that has been split between other stores it shows all items have been shipped and sadly I will have missing items so then I have to call the store and find out where the rest of my order is and have to insist on a tracking number. I believe I will be looking for a new vendor....... read more

Lovely staff! Super helpful when I asked questions, very through when helping as well as genuinely interested in what I wanted to make as well as getting me started into leather crafting! read more

I don't know what is going on at Tandy leather, I have been a customer for many years and always had good experiences with the staff, they used to be very helpful and take good care of my special orders. Not anymore, for some reason the management got rid of the experienced good staff and hired only new careless and unexperienced young people who do not understand what the customer service is. If what they want is to have an online store and get rid of the front stores, then their plan is working. My bad experiences have been increasing fast and more and more since the last 3 months. I feel bad for a store chain that has been there for many years and I hope they re route the boat because if not it will probably sink. read more

Ridiculously rude, both on the phone and in person. Bad attitude towards customers appears to trickle down from the store manager. Also, they have a large inventory -- maybe too large, because the prices on everything are way too high. Foot traffic seems low, which could both be caused by the sales people and also account for the exorbitant price tags. read more

They had a wide range of options when it came to leather; however, when it came to personality they were lacking. I felt as if I was bothering them by walking in the door. read more

This store is wonderful, walking in I was greeted by an incredibly helpful sales associate. If my husband and I had had more time we both would have enjoyed staying a bit longer. We left with a handful of items, the knowledge of what we were doing (thanks again to the lovely lady that told us what everything was and how it worked) and a smile on our faces. read more
