Found this place when looking for a punch to make holes for grommets in a garment I was sewing. The two men that were there were very helpful and assisted me in getting the correct punch and making sure I had the proper tools for the grommet installation itself. I love coming here to grab supplies. Pricing is competitive with other similar quality leather/craft supply shops. If you have any questions or are looking for advice, it can be hit or miss. They do have some friendly and knowledgeable employees- but some won't even acknowledge you when you walk into the shop. I have asked questions and was met with either a wealth of information or simply told to "google it". Nice stock of stuff. Usually they have everything in stock that I need. cassandra is a gem to say the least. Claiming she's the assistant manager, when we asked to speak to a manager. Sadly Tandy, their product quality and their personnel have fallen. Go in to return a leather belt that was cracked. She refused to return the belt. It was bought under our account, but they couldn't find it. They "changed" to a new system and it wasn't in there. Aside from the fact that they put the name in the account in WRONG. They more than likely sold it to the wrong account. We have visited this place several times. The staff is always friendly and the store is loaded with great deals and supplies. They also offer great discounts to military individuals and we thought it would be a nice hobby for someone who was going to be stationed away from home. They helped with the selection of hides and gift ideas. In addition to tools and hides, you can find a good choice of dies, hardware and kits. Wasted a lot of time and gas on a fool's errand driving 80 min because they told me over the phone that they had a lot of the exact kind of leather product I was looking for. They lied, out of laziness to actually check if they had what I was looking for or maliciously to try and get some foot traffic. Do not believe whatever it is they tell you on the phone. read more

I needed rivets for project. Not only did I buy the rivets but I was given a lesson on how to use them what tools I need to set the rivets. I received great customer service. I felt like I was the only customer in the store. I will recommend Tandy in Tempe. I am going back to take some classes. They are just great people I had a great experience at this store. Not sure what is going on with this location. Last couple of months they have been out of stock in a lot of hardware. Yesterday, only one sales person in the store at 4:30 in the afternoon. She didn't know how to apply the discount to my order with the flyer I have received in the mail from them. She tried calling the "manager" on his cell phone and the manager wouldn't answer. Just visited this location for the first time. The blonde female employee with leather bracelets on was super unhelpful. When asked a question she was vague, short, and glaringly uninterested. She wanted nothing to do with helping me. Very disappointing experience for someone who wanted to create something for the first time and had basic questions. I will never understand employees who treat customers like they are bothering them and wasting their time. I can see from the reviews that I am not the only one to have such a negative experience with this business. I ended up not purchasing anything but walking out extremely frustrated and disappointed. I was ready to spend a few hundred dollars on supplies here but I will not be back. read more

I have a work project involving leather that had me befuddled in terms of construction and other major issues, so I went to Tandy looking for solutions. Glad I did. Dillon and Melissa were very friendly and welcoming. Dillon answered all of my questions, provided some great info on materials, brought up thoughtful suggestions and solutions, and showed me the right products to use. Basically every checkmark for good service was hit during my visit. Service like that is becoming a rarity, so when it happens you tend to take notice. I don't usually get many leather projects at work, but the next time I do get one I know exactly where I'll be going. read more

I don't know what is going with Tandy, but they need to get their act together. I place orders with them to be shipped and lately with every order they are out of stock or my order is split between several stores. I am never notified and some stores ship UPS and others ship USPS. When I get the order that has been split between other stores it shows all items have been shipped and sadly I will have missing items so then I have to call the store and find out where the rest of my order is and have to insist on a tracking number. I believe I will be looking for a new vendor....... read more

I don't know what is going on at Tandy leather, I have been a customer for many years and always had good experiences with the staff, they used to be very helpful and take good care of my special orders. Not anymore, for some reason the management got rid of the experienced good staff and hired only new careless and unexperienced young people who do not understand what the customer service is. If what they want is to have an online store and get rid of the front stores, then their plan is working. My bad experiences have been increasing fast and more and more since the last 3 months. I feel bad for a store chain that has been there for many years and I hope they re route the boat because if not it will probably sink. read more

Ridiculously rude, both on the phone and in person. Bad attitude towards customers appears to trickle down from the store manager. Also, they have a large inventory -- maybe too large, because the prices on everything are way too high. Foot traffic seems low, which could both be caused by the sales people and also account for the exorbitant price tags. read more

This store is wonderful, walking in I was greeted by an incredibly helpful sales associate. If my husband and I had had more time we both would have enjoyed staying a bit longer.
