I recently visited Tandoori Junction and had a wonderful experience. Their Chole Bhature is truly authentic and reminded me of the real Delhi-style taste. The flavors were rich, the spices felt homemade, and everything tasted fresh and satisfying. I also tried chicken biryani, and goat curry, and each dish was full of flavor and cooked perfectly. You can really feel the traditional style and the blend of spices in every bite. One thing I really like about this place is that they are open 24 Hours. which makes it a great spot when you're craving good food after hours. I first learned about this place when I saw a coupon on the back of my Safeway receipt. The first thing I noticed was that this place was open late, which always catches my eye in this sleepy town of Mountain View. The second thing I saw after looking at the location was that it replaced Bay Biryanis, which was rather unfortunate as I had liked that place and didn't know they closed. Nevertheless, I made a mental note of this place and decided to give it a try after finishing work late. I need to say that it is very rare for me to give a place that is open late, particularly in the Mountain View/Sunnyvale area, a rating of less than four stars. I am always appreciative of places that are still open when I get off work late that don't serve fast food. That being said, even with giving them a bit of leeway, I am really not that impressed. I ordered saag mutton, mutter paneer, tandoori fish and paneer tikka. At first, I was happy when I saw tandoori fish on the menu. You usually only see that item at more upper echelon places, so I was pleasantly surprised. However, when I started eating, I saw that it was salmon. Any decent cook know that you don't use salmon in Indian dishes as it has its own flavor and clashes with the spices. I had the paneer tikka hoping it would be better but it was obviously packaged paneer that they had simply cut up and fried with some spice. I'm not necessarily expecting this place to hand-make their paneer but at least use a quality paneer that doesn't taste stiffer than regular cheese. Even the paneer in Trader Joe's frozen Indian food has a softer texture. The mutter paneer was also not the tastiest with the spices tasting weird and there being almost no cashew flavor. I understand that every restaurant has their own way of making mutter paneer but I was surprised at the complete lack of creaminess in the dish. The saag mutton was probably the best item out of all of them, with the mutton being super tender. However, if I am being honest and not to go there again, but the saag was pretty much on par with that of Trader Joe's. Not to further beat a dead horse, but even when I looked at the other items on the menu, they didn't look like they would be much better then their equivalents found at Trader Joe's. I keep referencing them as they make reasonable Indian food and so it becomes a question of whether you get better quality at this place, which doesn't seem to be the case. If you are really desperate for Indian food late at night when there is nothing open, I suppose that this place might be worth it. However, I am perfectly happy with driving a little further to Apni Mandi and ordering a more tasty meal even if they may not have non-vegetarian items. read more

We have had friends recommend this place and we were finally able to visit. Fairly limited seating indoors, with additional outdoors. We have tried many Indian restaurants and this one felt very authentic, their food was full of flavor and nothing we ordered disappointed! I'd say if your someone who can't do much spice, the mild was plenty spice for us, where my friend go the medium and said it had a pleasant kick. The garlic naan was cooked to perfection perfect for dipping in the curry and the rice was prepared well as to compliment the dishes. The butter chicken was the star of the lunch, the Palak Chicken was close behind and our friends Samosa Chaat was full of flavor, so we had to share with one another. This is a place I'm sure to return to so that we may be able to try more of their tasty dishes! read more

I am updating my past review of the Tandoori Junction Butter Chicken dish with Basmati Rice. I neglected to say that this restaurant's portions are generous. So large, in fact, that I was able to make 3 meals for myself out of it. The thing is that their food tastes even better the next day! A little bit of time in the microwave and the spices that had lacked a bit of roundness in eating the dish fresh from the restaurant burst in full flower the next day. I fault the restaurant for not issuing a User Instruction Manual with their food, indicating that their dishes taste better the following day (or two, as in my case). I raise my rating to 4.25 but am unable to so indicate in the stars above. Anyway, this place is worth trying but remember to leave most of it for the next day. read more

1/24/2026 Tandoori Junction 698 W Dana St Mountain View, CA 94041 We went for lunch on a Saturday, it's at the corner of Dana and Hope streets with parking on Hope and a city lot nearby. It's a cozy clean table setup with more tables in a back room available. The menu may be limited compared to other places but it has all our favorites. We got the Garlic Naan, Lamb Curry and Chicken Tikka Masala; both spicy. The food took some time to bring out. Both curries were flavorfully spiced with generous amounts of protein and good heat. My Lamb was tender with no bones. Yet another great Indian restaurant in MTV. We sat next to the kitchen and heard a lot of loud chopping. Good service, value, flavor and portions. This is a small, cozy place with a simple ambience -- nothing fancy, but comfortable enough for a good meal. The food, however, was definitely the highlight. We ordered the fish tandoori, pani puri, and palak chicken. The pani puri itself was decent, but the freshly made pani tasted really good. We were a bit skeptical about how salmon would work in a tandoori dish, but it turned out surprisingly flavorful. The palak chicken is definitely a must-try -- the chicken was tender and the spices were perfectly balanced. I would have given this place 5 stars, but the only downside was the slow service. That said, if you're not in a hurry, it's a nice spot to enjoy a good meal. read more

For lunch, I ordered the chicken tikka masala, fresh-baked naan, and a mango lassi. The chicken tikka masala had a rich, creamy sauce and big chunks of tender chicken, and the naan was so good - fluffy, warm and fresh. I've tried I feel like nearly every Northern Indian cuisine restaurant in Mountain View and Sunnyvale, and I feel that Tandoori Junction is hands down simply the best! I get takeout there at least once a week! Every dish I've ordered has been wonderfully seasoned and prepared...even their basmati rice is full of flavor and color (I don't know of any other place where you find whole star anise, bay leaves or cloves in the rice!). The prices are absolutely reasonable for the area and their hours of operation are unbelievably expensive. In sum, I really can't think of any critique for this wonderful restaurant! read more

Just a couple blocks off Castro street, this cozy restaurant serves some of the best Tikka Masala I've had. The chicken is tender, and the curry offers a deeply rich, balanced blend of tomato and cream. While the sliced bell peppers in the curry added a nice touch, I couldn't help but feel they may have been added to compensate for less chicken. Found a new favorite local gem! Tandoori Junction is the real deal if you're craving actual authentic flavors. The vibe is great, but the service is even better special shout-out to Avi, one of the partners. He's such a legend and really goes out of his way to make sure you're taken care of. The food was 10/10: Soya Chaap & Chicken Tikka: Perfectly charred and so tender. The soya chaap is a must try even if you are not vegetarian. Naan: Fresh, hot, and fluffy. The MVP: That homemade pickle they serve on the side. It's a total game-changer. My much better half & I had just completed an extremely pleasant 20mile/16kms cycle loop that included Permanente Creek Trail and the Stevens Creek Trail, and were ready for a good luncheon. Finding TANDOORI JUNCTION [698 West Dana Street, Mountain ViewCA 94041 USA; 650.386.5359; tandoorisjunction.com] had just opened for the day, we had a GREAT luncheon! Parking our machines adjacent to our outdoor table. The service was not only fast, but extremely knowledgeable with answers to every query we had concerning the many dishes available. I was feeling particularly in need of protein, specifically chicken. Making it even better was the bowl of 'palak" (spinach) in which the dark meat pieces were bathed. Even that was improved with the delicious garlic naan, perhaps my most favorite of all breads anywhere on Earth! She had excellent naan, albeit plain. Besides our usual clean freshwater to drink (my most favorite 'mixed' drink is 'water-on-the-rocks'), and my (experimental) drink: "salty lassi". As a World-traveller, I like adventure m/exploring different (non-alcoholic) drinks and was glad to have bought this, but it is immensely worse when compared to the delicious mango lassi (which my much better half had wisely ordered--already a known product!) . Likely, my legitimate fear of diabetes steered me away from anything sugary, which salty lassi tastes the complete opposite of...‍ Regardless, clean freshwater was our primary drink if choice. I thoroughly enjoyed this fantastic conclusion to our 2-3hour cycle journey. What's really good is that we don't have to cycle extensively beforehand--it's only a few blocks away and can always sate empty stomachs! I get takeout from here all the time, I work on Castro street late nights and call in an order in break, never more than 15 mins wait. Prices and service are great. Lamb curry was amazing. Mixed vegetable curry awesome Palak aloo super hearty and rich/ Super basic but spot on butter chicken. New favorite: Afghani chicken tikka. So creamy.
