What the sketchy experience! My wife and I showed up at 11:30 when they were posted to open and found the doors locked. Figured lets a few minutes to see if they are just late opening the door. Around 11:40 three guys in a car came and unlocked the door. We gave them another few minutes before heading in. Restaurant smelled amazing, but that was about it. We were sat down to a table that still had crumbs on it from the night before, asked what we wanted to drink and we said water with lemon. One of the guys came out with empty water cups and a jug. He set the cups down upside down with the lip touching the table. Gross but we were like whatever we will use straws. Asked the guy for lemons a second time. He came back with limes. Luckily before putting them in the cup I saw there was something reddish orange on them. I asked the guy what's on them. He said masala!! Like bro didn't grab us lemons. He grabbed us limes from the dish they were making. Like what the heck. We got up and left. If we can't get clean lemons or limes for a water how can I trust anything else from the kitchen. read more

Ordered catering for an event and was thoroughly disappointed. The Chicken 65 was so salty that guests couldn't eat it. When I called the restaurant about it, I was told they "can't do anything once the food leaves the restaurant" -- no accountability at all. The chicken biryani had a foul smell, like it was starting to go bad. On top of that, we paid for a full tray of veg biryani but only received a half tray. I've been calling every day since to get a refund for the shorted item, and they keep dodging my calls. Extremely poor quality control and even worse customer service. Would not recommend for catering, and I won't be ordering from them again. read more

A lady came to me all of sudden, claiming that the goat dish are expensive that I can't take it anymore. Mean while, I explained to her that all I had was 4 bones with very little meat on it. Horrible service. I have no clue if these positive reviews are lying or what is going on but we visited this restaurant on a Friday night to see one server running the entire place. We sat down and didn't get water or any service for a straight 15 minutes. She told me it would be a 10-15 minute max for the food after I asked if the service would slow for the entire meal.. and over 50 minutes since the order and only one dish was served. There was a huge amount of people just waiting and the service is too slow for a FRIDAY night. Don't recommend at all. Can't believe I wasted a perfect Friday night on this place. We had the buffet, and it exceeded expectations -- buffets usually mean bland, mass-produced food, but everything here was genuinely tasty with a great variety of options. Tandoor Tavern just filled out its own death warrant. It won't be around much longer. Here's why: 1. They just went from a B (bad!) to a C on their health inspection. 2. They have turned their their service into a very limited buffet that costs$18 per plate. 3. You have to eat that $18 meal off a paper plate. We used to enjoy their food, even though their service has alway been bad. But we are done with them. Im pretty sure everyone else will be soon. They never had much business to begin with. read more

Was excited to try out this new Indian restaurant in Marietta. When we initially entered, there was no one there to greet us, but there was one person who fell asleep behind the counter. We eventually got seated. I'm assuming during non-busy times you can just seat yourself. We weren't familiar with a lot of the items on the menu. I wish there were descriptions of the items. There are also several photos of the various dishes. However, it would be nice if the pictures were labeled so we knew what each one was. We ended up asking our server to give us some recommendations as well as identify the photos in the menu. We eventually settled on the Aloo Gobi, Coconut Fish Curry, Chicken Tikka Masala, and an order of the Garlic Naan. I thought the Aloo Gobi and Coconut Fish Curry tasted great. They were very flavorful and portions were plenty. I was a little disappointed at the Chicken Tikka Masala as it didn't quite taste the way I was expecting. This is usually my go-to dish, so I've had it many times in the past. The service was good. We were checked on often and everyone was very friendly. They offered us a dessert at the end, and I have to say I loved it! I can't remember the name of it, but it was like a small rice pudding dish. Overall, I thought the food tasted great and the service was on point. Would recommend giving them a try. read more

Delicious butter chicken and aloo samosas! Friendly staff and attentive. They also shared there is a buffet over the weekend.

In years past it was a lot easier to find Indian lunch buffets, but it seems like they are hard to find these days. Tandoor Tavern is one of a very few in the area that has a lunch buffet just on weekends. The menu changes each weekend and is available to be viewed on Facebook. The restaurant interior is unfussy and plain, but not unpleasant. The plates are literally paper plates, the masala tea is served out of a hot carafe in tiny paper cups, and the utensils are plastic (did I mention unfussy), but so long as you are expecting this, it's fine. There were about a dozen various curries, different kinds of rice, chutneys, and a few appetizer items like vegetable pakora. My favorite item was the tandoori wings, though standard tandoori chicken was available as well. The staff is pleasant, though we received one small bottle of water and it was never refilled or replaced. One thing to be aware of is that spicy dishes are not marked as such, so I would definitely pick out small quantities if you are sensitive, then load up on your favorites. All in all, it was a nice experience, and we enjoyed ourselves. read more

This is by far the best Indian cuisine in East Cobb. I've been during the week for menu ordered lunch and twice on the weekend for the buffet. Great new Indian restaurant! Service was a bit slow but the food was excellent. Started with the Aloo Samosas, and they were GREAT for an appetizer, crispy AND savory and flavors matched well with the sauces. For starters you HAVE to get the tandoori chicken, flavored and cooked to PERFECTION!! We also got Malai Kofta which was an excellent vegetarian curry that tasted great with their garlic naan. Delicious! We ordered chicken vindaloo and chicken tikka masala with an order of plain naan and garlic naan. The portion of naan was bigger than offered at other Indian restaurants in the area- I LOVE naan and always wish I had more but I finished the meal and didn't feel like I was shorted. Service was quick and we appreciated that they offered a complimentary appetizer and dessert (I didn't catch what either were but we loved them!). Tandoor Tavern has only been open a few months, so we were excited to give this restaurant a try! Pretty dining room with about 20 tables. It's brand new so very clean as well. We were greeted by a kind waitress who quickly sat us. She was the only one in the dining room and there were a few other patrons, but rest assured, service was good. We tried the Kadai Chicken (spicy), Prawns Ghee roast (medium spicy) and Chicken Tikki masala, (medium spicy). They will ask for your spice preference too so you can level up if needed. Everything was great. The Kadai chicken was not as spicy as I would have preferred, and the prawns were actually spicier so make sure to clarify your preference. Their regular and garlic butter naan was delicious as well. Very good portion size as well. Id definitely come back again go try them out!! read more

We wanted some place we hadn't been before, feeling adventurous, so we decided to give them a try. Exterior Located in a fairly non-descript strip mall. Free parking Interior Seemed clean. I didn't get a chance to to check out the health score. Customer Service The staff was subdued, but not rude. We asked for recommendations and weren't really provided any. Price / Value This is supposed to be Indian fusion (versus traditional Indian), so I'm not really sure how to compare it to traditional Indian, price-wise. Like most restaurants nowadays, I did find the portions a bit small - but I guess that's just the norm now. I miss the days of dining out and having enough leftovers for lunch the next day. Lol. Food I wanted the Tandoori Salmon but it wasn't available, so I went with the Butter Chicken. My buddy ordered Tandoori Chicken Wings and the Chicken 65. She wanted a lot of food so she could carry some home to her teenage son. The food was presented well and tasty. I love spicy food and if I had any recommendations other than bigger portions, it would be that I would have loved for it to be even spicier.
