We recently completed a large-scale backyard renovation and are quite pleased with the results. This involved over 2,000 square feet of Travertine patios, large retaining walls and outdoor kitchen. The company offered good services and warranties for the project and gave me a clear understanding of the process that was going to be needed for the project. Argel, the owner of the company, was always a step ahead with scheduling and kept great communication throughout the project. I'd personally give this company a 10 out of 10 when it comes to organization, organization, and their timelines where shocking. Highly recommend!

We ran into some difficulties at the start due to a last-minute cancellation by Matt and some unresponsiveness through email. When we voiced our concerns, Matt really stepped up to ensure our concerns were met. He immediately refunded us for the cost of the service, and he offered to meet with us at no cost. We ended up taking a 30 minute video chat with him, and Matt was super helpful in explaining various options. When we realized that his typical project scope was a bit bigger than what we wanted to spend, Matt was very gracious in connecting us with other contractors and designers. Despite the early hiccups, we got the sense that Matt is a genuine guy who is more interested in doing the right thing rather than making quick buck. We really appreciate his thoughtfulness, and we will definitely consider engaging with his services again in the future!

The virtual call was perfect for our project, we provided Matt with pictures of the backyard space as well as a video walkthrough. He took this information as well as our preferences for how we envisioned the space to be used to come up with a 2D design. He also recommended materials and local contractors. We contacted one of the contractors a few weeks later and finished the project with them in about 2 months. I highly recommend the Virtual Consultation for smaller projects with Matt. His feedback for our questions and experience with similar projects were very beneficial to starting this backyard project for us.

Other landscapers just didn't seem as excited about what they were doing. We completely updated our front and backyard, including removing several trees and plants, installing two patios, and adding two large veggie beds and all new plants. We are thrilled with the outcome and are confident it would not have come out as well had we chosen another landscape company. Chris is very knowledgeable about plants and was very willing and enthusiastic to help us realize our vision. There were times when we felt overwhelmed with all the decisions. Chris walked us through options and was so helpful in reassuring during the decision process. He was very patient with our changes to the plan and went above and beyond to bring our vision into reality. His team was always on time, they worked hard, and cleaned things up before they left each day. His foreman was also very knowledgeable, had great ideas, and was easy to work with. Everyone was very professional. As time consuming as the project was and despite how overwhelmed we felt at times, we were kind of sad when it was over. I enjoyed brainstorming ideas with Chris and working with him. He is a great guy. We really enjoy spending time in our new yard. I look around and feel so happy about how beautiful everything looks. We highly recommend Houle L & M for your next landscaping project. You won't regret it!

Long overdue review…read more After I completed my retaining wall in our backyard, it was time to move onto finishing the yard with full pavers and artificial turf. I met with a few different contractors, and after meeting Jose and his team, I went with Simancas Landscaping and was very happy with the decision. I actually created the plan myself for the backyard, and reviewed it with Jose and it came out exactly as I had hoped! I did all the landscaping myself, but I am sure that his team could've also done that as well. We also decided to pave over our concrete California Room to make everything cohesive, and the finished product came out better than expected. Jose was very communicative throughout the project, and when problems arose, we worked together to move past them. I would definitely recommend Simancas for paver and artificial turf installation!

We had several sessions with her, and each time, the plans evolved into something we never thought could be as magnificent as it is. Each time we are out enjoying our new patio (dinners al fresco, neighborhood parties, etc.) people walking by shower us with complements. People have actually parked their cars and walked up to us to compliment the great design. Side note: My wife deserves the credit for hiring her in the first place. My idea was to throw down some plants and put in my own pavers for a patio. WOW! Was I wrong. :-) Love you, Sweet Potato. Charlene offered multiple design plans for us to pick and choose from, provided realistic YouTube video walkthroughs which really gave us that "wow, this is our house?" feeling, quickly worked on any edits we came up with, responded quickly to questions, and OMG! We couldn't be happier with the results! Thank you, Charlene for transforming several sheets of scratch paper into this magnificent Entry Way to our neighborhood.
