whats the point of having posted hours if you can't rely on them to be accurate?…read more the store is fine and has some good merchandise, but the employees closed the store more than 30 minutes before their posted closing time because they "needed to go to portland".

I came to this location to exchange a pair of socks that didn't quite fit. "Exchange a pair of…read moresocks that you already wore? No store allows that!" you say? Well, Fleet Feet is NOT like most stores. They offer a 60-day exchange / refund on pretty much everything they sell. They want each customer to be 100% happy with each purchase, and they fully know that sometimes the only way to find out if something is a good fit (literally), is to try it for a while and see how it goes. In my case, I got blisters on one of my feet with the socks I'd purchased, and the extremely helpful employee diagnosed the issue as the pair I was returning being too large. Having my doubts, I followed his advice and tried the medium size. He was EXACTLY right! No blisters at all with the medium size! This location is VERY large, despite it looking like it would be small from the parking lot. They have a huge selection of running shoes, socks, insoles, massage guns, massage therapy items, energy gels, sunglasses, sportswear, sports bras, etc. The staff at Fleet Feet is literally unparalleled in their expertise and helpfulness in my experience (I've been to two locations). I'm new to walking (lifelong asthmatic with exercise being one of the biggest triggers), and Fleet Feet's 3D scans of one's feet, analysis of pressure as one walks on a pressure plate, the huge product selection, and vast knowledge of their products made a literal night and day difference in my walking. I can now walk 7 miles at a brisk pace without the almost unbearable leg pain that I experienced in my previous footwear. I NEVER would have expected that a proper pair of shoes with carefully selected insoles and proper socks could make any notable difference at all, let alone a change that LITERALLY enables me to do what I set out to do. I'd not have been able to do this without the help of Fleet Feet.

If you love the outdoors -- or just want to look like you do -- the Columbia Factory Store is a…read moremust-stop. The selection here is fantastic, with everything from jackets and hiking shoes to thermal gear and hats, all at factory outlet prices. I've found deals that beat most online discounts, especially during seasonal sales. The staff deserves a shoutout. They're genuinely helpful, not pushy, and always willing to check stock or help you find the right size. You can tell they actually use the products and know what they're talking about. The store is clean, well-organized, and easy to navigate -- no digging through messy racks like some outlets. The checkout process is quick, and the team keeps the line moving even when it gets busy. Pro tip: Sign up for the Columbia Rewards program. I've scored some extra savings and early access to sales that make it worth it. Overall, this is one of the best outlet shopping experiences in the Portland area. Whether you're gearing up for a hike or just looking for a solid rain jacket (we are in the PNW), Columbia has you covered -- literally! LMAO

This Columbia Outlet store had so many great deals, it was overwhelming…read more I stopped by here yesterday afternoon because I'm in the market for some new winter outerwear. I was specifically hoping to find boots and/or a jacket. On top of having an entire floor full of clearance jackets, they also had about a dozen racks under tents outside of the store. It seemed like they probably had every Columbia jacket that had been made within the past few years. There was also a ton of Mountain Hardware and Sorel. The Mountain Hardware jackets were about 25-50% off, which was still significantly cheaper than REI or anywhere else that I know of. I ended up feeling so overwhelmed by the jacket selection that I decided I needed to do some research, and come back. I ended up leaving with two pairs of snow boots: 1 Columbia, and 1 Sorel. I got both pairs for $55, including tax and a very small roundup for the National Park fund. I've been looking for boots for a couple of weeks, and the cheapest I've found comparable boots anywhere else was anywhere from $69-129. So, I was beyond stoked to find two pairs I liked in the clearance section. They were also having a store wide BOGO half-off sale, which is how the total ended up so low. I didn't have, and have actually never had any of the issues with outlet stores that other people brought up in their reviews. I used to work at the outlets in Folsom. Most of the merchandise isn't damaged or defective-- it's just overstock or barely out of season. The boots that I purchased are honestly of similar quality to brand new boots from DSW. I just got really lucky (and have a seventh sense for when things will be on sale due to all my years of working in retail). Staff was super friendly and helpful. Overall a great experience and I would definitely shop here again.

I was lucky enough to get a tour of this Columbia Sportswear distribution center the other night,…read moreand it was super amazing! I am a Supply & Logistics Management business major over at Portland State and one of my 400 level courses is the reason I got to tour this facility. I don't believe it is open to the public. Any supply chain dork would love a look into how a large company like Columbia Sportswear gets their product distributed out to all their many customers. The warehouse is HUGE! If you count both the floor space as well as the different mezzanine levels overhead there is 1.5 million square footage. There are conveyors carrying product from one department to another and other conveyors that weigh boxes in a split second. They have a crazy cool scanner system that knows when to sticker boxes and when not to. The staff members were great and I appreciate that they were willing to give up some of their time to show us around. Hopefully one day I will be luck enough to work for such a cool company.

Outdoor gear junkie? Columbia takes their warranties seriously!…read more **Review for luggage and backpacks: I bought two rolling backpacks online (Ridge Runner C1204-407), in 2002ish, when I started doing heavy globe trotting. These were backpacks that you could snap in [the included] smaller day-packs, and just roll everything with one hand. I'd wear one on my back, roll the other, then detach a day-pack for carry-on. Or, just strap them all together to create one unit. I had it down! Til this day I have yet to see a bag engineered so brilliantly. So, you could imagine how upset I was after 10 years, when the handle on one broke and the other bag began to rip. THE COMPLAINT I had thrown $$$$ down on these bags because they came with a lifetime warranty. I was so scared that Columbia wouldn't be able to fix them, that I just kept using them - causing further damage. When I booked my last international trip, I called Columbia and they promised to take care of me by either fixing my bags or replacing them with similar items. I just needed to pack them up and enclose a letter detailing my concerns. Letters of complaint - pshhh never a problem. THE SOLUTION After two weeks, I was connected with Ben (I think). He explained that while my bags were amazing, they were no longer in production. However, he offered to help me select new bags for the retail price; and when that wasn't enough to cover the overall functionality that I'd become accustomed to, they let me go a little over budget so I could feel good about my replacements. JUSTIFIED LOYALTY - SCIENCE & CAPACITY They did the math - that's hot! I returned two rolling backpacks that functioned like luggage/hiking packs, and two small daypacks (set). In exchange, I received a (1) lightweight backpacking backpack with rain cover and ergonomic back frame (trail grinder 40L) (2) a small rolling duffel for carry-on and (3) and their largest xl rolling duffel bag. It took us an hour to figure it how many liters I was used to carrying at once, and how I could get the same capacity, versatility, and desired look - given their current stock. I don't think it would have taken most people this long, but I'm an overly conscious consumer who researches everything. In retrospect, I should have jotted down Ben's suggestions then called back, but he labored through with me - much appreciated. SCORE The added bonus: the new design of my new backpack meets carry-on restrictions [to date], because they got rid of the bulk. This means that ole girl [hopefully] never has to check her bag again - unless she wants to! The bag just rolls into position in the overhead bin. It is so lightweight in design that I don't even travel with the roller bags. OK, kinda lying because it depends on the trip - at times I will check the small rolling duffel with books or shoes. However, most of the time, this former bag lady only carries one bag. A+ for making me a more efficient traveler. BOTTOM LINE My initial investment in Columbia paid off. When it comes to bags, they have a customer for life in me! NOTES: They have a cute little store at PDX airport. The staff is awesome - truly love their own gear. You can go in here and geek out over everything Columbia including socks and blankies without judgment - they love it too.
