I have tons of allergies and he's been there thru the good and the bad. He takes the time to go through recent events leading up to an allergic reaction and offers sound advice. His office staff are all friendly and answer any questions. Ask for an allergy supply catalog to get this coupon for 15% off online orders if you are looking to get some allergy products. The only thing that sucks is you need a month in advance for appointments. read more

Receptionist tells you policy is appointments can only be made via website. Try to go to website and it is down. Call back and ask if exception can be made because their website is down and receptionists says no "try website again tomorrow. May work" I'm dead serious. read more

I am writing to express my dissatisfaction with the level of professionalism displayed by the front desk receptionist when handling my appointment over the phone. From the beginning, her tone was extremely rude and dismissive. She repeatedly mentioned that she did not have my referral, only to abruptly ask for my insurance details a moment later. Additionally, her instructions were unclear and unhelpful. She informed me that I would need to wait for a call after the doctor reviewed my case, which would take a month, but then hastily directed me to check on my insurance (which was unnecessary). My family physician had told me he would not refer me outside of my insurance, and she seemed scattered in her words, which only created more confusion and didn't make sense. This lack of clear communication was frustrating. A month later, when I called to follow up, she reiterated the same confusing response, now asking whether I had registered online and had my insurance details ready which she never told me at the beginning. When I clarified that I would complete the registration right after the call, she finally confirmed that my appointment had been scheduled. What??? The overall handling of my appointment was inefficient and unprofessional, and I felt that my time was not respected & wasted. I hope this feedback can be taken seriously to ensure a more courteous and organized experience for future patients. Dr. Tam should really......really look into this and address. In any health professional field, the mission is compassion and treat patient with care and love and not adding extra stress and emotional. I am also in a medical professional field as well. She definitely does NOT fit this roll and need to be re-train. Hope to see some improvement or will take this to the next higher level Board of California to look into this matter for the safety of all patients. read more

I have been getting allergy shots here for several years. My serum is provided by another Dr, but I do see the allergists here yearly for a check in. Their office is open on Thursdays and Saturdays for shots, and generally they are there and quick to see you during shot hours. Others have pointed out the staff can seem abrupt, but once I got to know folks, I realized that the doctors and staff are deeply caring and work to sort out whatever issues come up. If anything the office has a family feel to it. If you are looking for an allergist in SF, Dr Tam's office is worth considering. read more

Could not even get past the rude woman who answered the phone. The doctor was on my insurance list. The woman kept saying we dont know if we take your insurance!!! Go on line!! Will not be going there for sure I would give no stars if I could read more

Outstanding physician Dr. Tam is a brilliant diagnostician, and one who takes whatever time is necessary to understand, discuss, diagnose and treat your allergies. He is compassionate, kind, and highly professional, and thorough when discussing your problems. He asks excellent questions and explains things thoroughly. Dr. Tam kept his practice open well beyond closing on my first appointment. When I was diagnosed with glaucoma recently he caught the fact that my eye drop prescription ( Timolol) belongs to a group of medications called beta blockers, which are associated with greater risk for severe anaphy laxis; He suggested I discuss this with my glaucoma specialist to see if there was a prescription without beta blockers, w I am now taking glaucoma medication without beta blockers. Dr. Tam is a physician who is highly attentive to all factors influencing a patient's allergies. Under his care, I have never had anaphylaxis again. Allyson Ely - February 07, 2024 read more

I called today to the SF office to make an appointment, when they asked what was my insurance, I said Kaiser the receptionist started laughing at me . When I told her to please stop laughing at me for my insurance, she hang up the phone on me . Absolutely ridiculous from a doctors office to treat anyone like that when people are calling because they are in pain. Thankfully the office in Marin was much kinder. read more

No stars from me. I had an appointment for a consultation at 2:00, the receptionist called me to come in earlier so I did..... I never saw the doctor because they left me waiting for 50 mins. I walked out. Unorganized office and do not recommend read more

Dr. Tam is very thorough and competent and professional doctor with specific training in allergy remediation and diagnosis of allergic reactions. He has several office sites and one in San Francisco on Geary Blvd. The office staff is difficult to communicate with since they seem not to staff the San Francisco Office on the days the Dr. is in his other office in Marin County. I would recommend that the staff at the office where Dr. Tam is not in be more able to communicate with patients and the public regarding scheduling, availability of the doctor, and general informational needs. It is like calling a void when the doctor is not in the San Francisco office. read more

Dr Tam literally saved my life. The only doctor that correctly diagnosed and treated a condition I was born with. Marcia DM

I had been taken to the E.R. for what was thought to be an anaphylactic reaction. After the incident, and because I was traveling, my follow-up was performed by two physicians in New York, colleagues in the practice of a well-known allergist. Neither offered answers that made much sense to me. When I returned to San Francisco, and just before a long trip out of the country, I sought the assistance of my Internist, who recommended Dr.Tam. Dr. Tam is extremely competent, caring, attentive and thoughtful physician. When I needed to be seen on an urgent-care basis, his staff worked hard to schedule an appointment, taking me the same day my physician called. Dr. Tam saw me after his office had closed, and spent over an hour with me. His interview and questions were extraordinarily thorough and thoughtful and his recommendations have been extremely helpful. The morning after I saw him he communicated with my internist and cardiologist. I left for my trip feeling confident that my problem was under control. I would like to add that, in my opinion, the comments about Dr. Tam's accent and lack of concern for patients are unwarranted. He is articulate, speaks clearly, and is easy to understand. Only a physician who cares about his patients would stay 2 hours past the close of business, until 7 pm, to see a new patient. read more

I've had a reaction to my leg and now my arms. I've been to 2 dermatologist who both said something completely different so I finally went to see Dr. Tam who did allergy testing and called me with results and even called to ask if he could discuss my case with another specialist. I'm glad and grateful to have been recommended to him for this. read more

100% incompetent office. It's been a nightmare dealing with them. I've left numerous messages to address the billing errors and I'm always told someone will call me back and they never have. Never. Ever. 9 months of this. I simply tried to get a printout of services for my insurance. I can't get that either. There's a reason they have such a bad rating. It's not worth the hassle. read more

I went to see Dr. Tam for a life threatening food allergy. The tech that did the original allergy tests spoke English so poorly that, that I could barely understand her. I briefly saw Dr Tam, who spoke softly and quickly with such a thick Chinese accent I could barely understand. When I finally got the results from a tech who didn't speak English FOUR weeks later, I was told that no allergies were found. Extensive blood work was done, and again when FOUR weeks later Dr. Tam finally called me at 10 o'clock at night he told me I had CANCER, a rare form and that I needed to see an oncologist. That much I understood clearly. He later told me in his soft Chinese heavy accent that I could have 5-7 years to live, so I was lucky! Are you kidding, I'm 50 years old with a husband and 3 children, and a grandchild on the way. Please!! I'm not in my 80's where 5-7 years might sound ok!!! Five months of hell later, my other docs realized that he didn't know what he was talking about. My allergy remains a mystery, but this Dr. showed no concern for my well being, didn't return phone calls, and made my life and that of my family, a living HELL! Maybe he is ok for people who speak Chinese and for run of the mill allergies........but for me and anyone I love he is the worst! And his office staff, most of who can barely speak English, is just as bad. read more

I brought my 2 year old here after months of runny noses that were not improving. His office staff are wonderful and brought my son toys after his allergy pick test. Dr. Tam is fantastic as well. He sat down with me to create a detailed timeline of my son's health, and asked great questions. After our appointment he coordinated with our pediatrician to determine the right course of treatment for what ended up being a sinus infection. Dr. Tam followed up with me several days later to check in on my son. I highly recommend this doctor and his San Fran office to anyone who wants a doctor that will be proactive and work to find out what is wrong with your child. read more

I have been very impressed by the treatment I have received from Dr. Tam and staff. Friendly, kind, and caring are three adjectives I would use to describe Dr. Tam. Best of all, he fixed my allergy problems without serious medication. Plus, he has two offices for added convenience. Overall, I would say seeing Dr. Tam has been one of the most pleasant medical experiences I have ever had. read more

It would be difficult for him to care any less about my son and his allergies. He spent almost no time with my son and gave no advice. He had one path and was not open to even talking about others. My children have been seen by both Dr. Tam and Dr. Anand over the last couple of years. It was a relief to finally find out what was really going on with them (allergies for both and asthma for one)! I highly recommend both doctors. The nurse Leesa also really knows her field, she is a wealth of information and always makes our visits there easier. She is great with my kids and they always want her as our nurse. Just be sure to get there on time or you will be scolded by the receptionist! read more

This is not a review about Dr. Tam's bedside manner or about the amount of time he took with our appointment, for these things were fine. What I am reviewing is on what I asked him & his staff to do and how they did not provide for us. 1) my child suffered a serious illness last year and it was related to a vaccine. I asked Dr. Tam specifically to test my child for allergies related to the vaccine which sent him to the hospital. When we went in for our appointment, he had forgotten all about my concerns and what kind of allergy testing I was asking for. He wasted our time! 2) my child's school sent home a medical form to be filled in for school records. I called Dr. Tam's office ahead of the appointment and asked specifically for this paperwork to be filled out. We arrived for our appointment and the reception person informed us their office cannot fill out the paperwork for us. Again, wasting our valuable time. read more
