After a long drive to have brunch somewhere on Elmwood, just to find the doors locked, I ventured…read moreover here to have lunch and it did not disappoint! First off, I was greeted and found staff friendly and efficient! You have plenty of options for seating .. dining area, front bar, back bar, even an outdoor patio bar. Although it is dive bar-esque, it was nice and clean (let's be honest .. some dives have a stench and stickiness that can definitely ruin your appetite, no matter how much you may love them). They have a set up for bands to play, as one was playing while I was there for their 2 year anniversary (congrats!). What was nice is although I could hear the band (it was playing in the back and I was up front), it wasn't over whelming me. I have eaten places where, no matter where you sit, it's extremely loud, and I appreciated that you had a choice here. Now onto the food: The food should have been doomed to fail; my tastebuds were prepared to eat sweet, buttery, syrupy French toast with a mocktail at brunch elsewhere. But wasn't hyped about the menu because of this (which is not dog and pony's fault .. I had to work and didn't have time to research where else brunch was available). I settled on the umami smashburger by a suggestion of my waitress. Now once again, could have been doomed to fail as I'm not a French fry person and my favorite cheeseburger is one I make on my own. BUT WOW their food blew me away and made me forget all about my brunch let-down. The French fries were fantastic and had a great seasoning on them! The smashburger was great to the last bite .. and I was NOT expecting to finish it as it was a really nice portion (I ate lunch now 10 hours ago and didn't need to eat again it was so filling!) but it was so dang gone good I sure finished it! Smoked cheddar .. chimichuri aioli ... kimchi bacon jam .. oh ya that bacon jam was EVERYTHING!! Thank you to the staff at Dog and Pony for making my long drive worth while!

We ventured out into downtown area to grab a drink & hopefully find a spot still serving food. We stumbled across House of Charm while searching online info for something nearby. The exterior is unassuming but easy to spot & the delightful interior was funky, fun & welcoming. Music wasn't insanely loud but was there & the number of interesting "charms" sprinkled throughout the establishment were a total gas. My favorite was the deconstructed Barbie parts displayed on small hooks at the end of the bar. The staff was lovely & came over to greet us in a timely manner. Assured us that they still had a late night menu & then we got to have THE BEST SPICY MARGARITAS EVER!!! The paninis were also yummy & we each got a piece of chocolate & a Dum Dum included on our plates for dessert. But seriously! The spicy margarita! Was absolute Fire I love spicy & am often disappointed if I'm trying a Spicy Marg out & about. Even if I ask for extra spicy...it never really is. But this guys Spicy Margarita was AMAZING!! Both myself & my husband (who doesn't love spicy like I do) were able to enjoy the drinks. They were spicy enough that I enjoyed them & the flavor profile was still balanced & delicious so my hubby was also a huge fan. Of all the places we got to try while in Buffalo, House of Charm was by far my favorite!

I went there to try the chicken wings that I have been hearing about and reading about for so long but I had no idea about thier poutine fries and just how outstanding they were. Honestly if you like that kind of thing it may be worth visiting this place just to try thier poutine fries. We ordered both Cajun wings and mild wings. The Cajun were outstanding, cooked to absolute perfection, these weren't the dry rubbed Cajun that I was used to having, I believe it was a Cajun butter sauce they were tossed in which was absolutely terrific and I would probably have them tied at first place out of all the Cajun wings I have tried so far. The mild wings were just as good and also cooked to perfection, I would say they are possibly top 2 for me. We also ordered the Guinness stout burger and the garlic bread. The garlic bread was pretty good, had a bit of spice to it. The Guinness burger was good had better but it was definitely good and would order it again. We had nice window seats and the staff was very attentive and friendly, as good as it gets pretty much. Very reasonably priced for sure, especially when you consider quality of what you are actually getting, definitely a good deal. Definitely need to get back there and try out their other wings. Check out the images here of the crispy Cajun wings and the poutine fries. 4.4 out of 5.

The smitty wings just tasted like mild buffalo sauce and the honey cajun was pretty good. My issue was with the "ranch" sauce because it tasted like straight horseradish and every bite left a bitter aftertaste. It looks run down on the outside but the inside isn't half bad. The drinks were extremely reasonable and they have a half decent selection of beer. My only complaint was there weren't many local beers. They have pool and several dart boards which was our main reason for going. There's never been anyone using the dartboard's when we've stopped in so that's always a bonus. They have themed holiday parties which brings in lots of local 20's which was nice since were used to an older crowd drinking in South Buffalo. This has become one of our favorite spots in town for some drinks and darts!

Nothing you order will come out at the same time. 5. The kitchen closes long before the listed closing time. 6. It's a tiny dive bar type spot with a small bar and very limited table seating so they don't allow parties over 6 people. We were a party of 2 and arrived about 45 minutes after they opened. Place was already packed and we were quoted a 90 minute wait. Ok no problem, we grabbed a couple drinks at the bar. There wasn't a seat for both of us at the bar or we could've just ordered food right at the bar. Those seats are first come first serve. We actually only waited about 30 minutes for a table. As we were going to the table we were told that it's about 90 minutes for food to come out of the kitchen. Again, we appreciated the heads up and hoped it was going to be similar to the seating time quote and be overestimated. Spoiled alert: it's not. Our server was quick to greet us and grabbed another round of drinks while we looked at the menu. It's very small so there wasn't a lot to debate. We decided to order the Finn fries, pizza sticks (it's just pizza logs) and 20 wings. The giant plate of fresh cut fries came out first and rather quickly. They were seasoned and greasy but not in a I feel so gross after eating just a few kind of way. We ate the fries slowly and then it was the long wait. About 2 hours later the pizza sticks arrived and the wings came shortly after. The pizza sticks were overcooked and a little burnt in my opinion. The wings were a good size and were definitely crispy even though they were swimming in sauce. The wing sauce had good flavor without being just burn your tastebuds hot. The inside of many of the wings however was dry and chewy. This is where the disappointment set in. I hoped it was just one or two that were dry but we both commented on the wings being dried out. The homemade blue cheese was fine but nothing exceptional. Overall, I don't get the hype and it's not a place I would be willing to go back to and wait 2 hours for wings again. I think there are plenty of comparable options that don't take the entire night to get your food. Our server was great and kept checking on us and made sure we had everything we needed while we waited for the wings. Not his fault at all and we didn't experience the attitude that others comment about. Bartender was great too. Would I eat here again? Probably not.
