We had reservations for Ramen San next door and needed to kill 20 min so we went here. The bartender was very friendly and the margaritas were good. The food flavor was tasty but the tacos fell apart when I tried to pick it up. Worth a shot if you need some good Mexican street food for a night.

Tall Taco Boy at the Midway airport I will tell you you're the best thing there. Midway is a Southworst Hub and that means that most people going through Midway are flying for the first time in years or I've never flown before. I fly every week so this drives me bananas. Somehow this little taco counter comes through. I got the shrimp tacos #stlouispescatarianapproved of course and the salsa was better than an airport deserves. I eat it every single time because somehow my flight is always delayed. The vibe is a rushed grade school cafeteria, but the service is fast so we're good.

The ceiling features string lights, hanging lamps, and a bicycle wheel chandelier, with plants and a decorative cactus on the wall.

The food was really good, I just wish the shells for the tacos were toasted. They were very breakable. Service was pretty much on you. You scanned a code and placed your order and paid at the table. Somebody brought the food and/or drinks out but didn't come back to the table after dropping things off. We had to stop a worker to ask for some boxes. The staff was friendly. Inside was very cute and clean.

Stopped in after coming from a museum as we in the mood for some tacos. We were seated pretty quickly upon walking in and the server explained how to order food. Im not a fan of QR style ordering but our food came out super quick and was still hot. I got the Taco Bundle with the crispy fish and shrimp tacos with a side of rice and beans. Also I ordered a mango margarita to drink. Everything was really good and I really enjoyed my meal! This restaurant has all the right vibes and seems like a good spot for a big group. Would love to come back!

This was my first time trying Tallboy Taco and I can confidently say it wasn't bad. The ambiance and vibe of the restaurant was beautiful ! One of the very convenient things about this restaurant is that you can order and pay on your phone, so when you're ready to go you don't have to wait on the server. The experience of having a server isn't really there so that's something to look out for. I got the 2 taco combo ( steak & chicken) it wasn't terrible but it also wasn't awesome.

With the name Tallboy Taco you would think they were really good at tacos. I ordered 3 tacos, the pastor, birria, and the chimichurri chicken. The corn tortillas on all three were terrible. They all tore upon the first bite and just became a mess all over my hand. The Birria was the worst it was just dry shredded meat no sauce and no dip of the tortilla. There was consommé but was unable to dip the taco in the small container because the taco completely fell apart at first bite. The pastor taco was equally dry. The chicken was the best out of the three it was not dry and had good flavor but again the tortilla fell apart and was a mess at first bite. Inside is nice and cozy, good music and the service was quick and friendly.

Found this place not far from our hotel and it was all we needed. You can order at the counter and sit down, takeout or sit at a table and order from the QR code. The margs were good and the tacos were simple and good. If you want more drinks, order them from the QR code and then close out the tab when you are done. I didn't mind the lack of service at the table (yes they bring you the drinks and food). Sometimes its just nice to have the staff work on what they need and for you and your company to just enjoy your time together.

Rice and a pork Al pastor taco

The food here is average at best. No server, you order from a QR code on the table. The bartender couldn't even put ice in the water cups. Tried the rice and 3 different tacos, the crispy fish was very bland and not much fish mostly breading, the pork al pastor had minimal flavor mostly just taste the pineapple, the birria short rib was alright, the flavor was in the consume. The best thing I had was the rice.

Tallboy Taco is a good fast casual spot to grab a quick bite if you're in Streeterville. They have a good sized patio to enjoy your food with contactless ordering. It did the trick! A wide variety of tacos, decently priced, and good portions when it came to the quesadilla. I got the Crispy Shrimp Tacos and the Cheese Quesadilla which were both scrumptious. I'm excited to see the flavors of the other tacos next time I come!

We were staying at the Hilton across the street and needed something quick to eat. It's a casual but cute place to dine. Birria short Rib taco 3/5 Chicken chimmichuri taco 5/5 The Birria was okay, it's needs more flavor or something. However, the chicken was pretty good! It's def a fast casual dining place with good food options. A few people beside us ordered loaded nachos and quesadillas which looked very good and a large portion for two or more to share.

Had a great experience with Tallboy Tacos recently- it's so nice to have found another option for Mexican food in Streeterville! Tallboy recently catered a group event- although the food arrived a bit late, it was fresh and piping hot. We ordered the BYO Taco Bar, which came with chimichurri chicken, ground beef, and al pastor, along with corn tortillas, ample topping options, and beans & rice. The chimichurri chicken and al pastor were group favorites! Both were extremely flavorful, but the chicken was particularly tender and juicy with a perfect char on the outside. The chimichurri sauce was tangy, refreshing, and had a nice thicker consistency. The al pastor had a nice mix of cuts of pork, with the charred pineapple perfectly complementing the flavorful seasoning. The ground beef was high quality, but I would pass on this next time simply because the other meats overshadowed it. The beans were more along the lines of a soup, but had a nice flavor. I did find the tortillas to be a bit dry, but appreciated that they were not greasy- I will give the benefit of the doubt here as this was a large delivery order to prepare. The highlight for me, though, was the rice! It was exceptionally fluffy, moist, perfectly seasoned, slightly spicy, and highly addictive. Among the best I've tried in a long time. Everyone went back for seconds and made a note of the restaurant name in order to pay individual return visits. I will be back, and look forward to trying more of the menu!

    5$ margarita

First place my friend and I stopped at while visiting Chicago. Was very excited to try their happy hour specials (margs and nachos). The margarita was absolutely delicious and strong. My friend got the nachos and enjoyed them. Our server however couldn't care less to check on us. After she delivered our first round of margs she never came back. Her friends came in and she went to their table 4 times to provide service. It wasn't until I yelled for her to ask for a water refill since she was refilling her friends water that we finally got her attention. Not sure her name but the blonde bartender was less than quality service on a pretty dead Tuesday afternoon.

First time here for lunch with my friends. It is a small establishment, but we loved the ambiance. Upon entering, we asked how the setup works, and the lady behind the counter [sorry, we didn't get her name] said we order and then sit down. She was super nice and gave us her recommendations. We ordered guacamole and chips, and got the 2-taco combo. We got different variations. I ordered the steak and crispy fish combo. The chips were fresh and warm, and crispy when they arrived at our table. Guacamole is delicious, and the tacos were just as good and flavorful. The margarita was also tasty!

Chicken Tallboy Taco - made with oneTortilla that immediately fell a par; it was a mess. Unedible.

Despite their well-earned fame, this spot keeps the humble, hole-in-the-wall energy intact, small, unpretentious, and staffed by some genuinely warm and welcoming people. Pop in, grab a seat, and let them do the rest. My fiancé and I shared the quesabirria combo, two quesabirrias with consomé, a Mexican Coke, and a Jamaica, and honestly, everything was amazing. The Jamaica alone deserves its own shoutout: perfectly balanced, not too bitter, not too sweet, and exactly what you need to cut through the heat of the food. The tacos came out piping hot, prepped right in front of us, loaded with cheese and packed with flavor. The consomé was warming, rich, and perfectly spiced, the kind of broth that makes you want to tip the bowl. And the accompaniments (onion, cilantro, peppers, lime, and salsa) give you full control to doctor things up to your liking. For spice lovers, this setup is a dream. My one gripe, and the sole reason I'm docking a star, is the price. At around $30 for two tacos, a consomé, and drinks, it's a tough pill to swallow. As a Mexican American, there's something about that price point that pulls me slightly out of the authentic experience I was hoping for. I fully respect the craft and passion behind this food, but it's worth noting. That said? Don't let it stop you. This food is incredible, and I'll absolutely be back.

Really awesome space at a crowded downtown location. Foods were served on nice metal holders or disposable/environmentally friendly containers and utensils. The tacos were huge, and I love that they focus on the variety of vegetables on the taco, which is often overlooked at other places. Veggies also make the taco look beautiful. I particularly enjoyed the tikka paneer, the paneer was soft for paneer but firmer than tofu, a really great texture. And the flavor wasn't overpowering. The tikka sauce was light, which I am totally fine with. The chicken quesadilla was also made well and of good value, the kids all really liked it. The salmon was good too but didn't really stand out as much, but appreciate the variety veggies on top! The mexi-Cali shrimp bowl was not bad either, but also didn't stand out much. The shrimp was good but I prefer it cooked even lighter if possible. Flavor was good tho. The rice was long grain, which I prefer, but they do give quite a lot, I ended up having quite a lot leftover. I wish the had a bit more cilantro or other herby mix to increase the depth of flavor, but overall still pretty good. Queso was also really good, thick and creamy, not too salty, but sadly the kids didn't like it as much. Husband also liked the gochujang pork a lot, said it was actually really really good.
