My mom bought me a dress and sent it out to me in CA. She asked the person working in the shop if she could return it a few days late if it didn't work for me, and she was told that it would be possible. Well, it turned out the cut & color didn't suit me, so I sent it back. This little well-traveled dress is back in NH now, just three days after the 14-day deadline, but the owner is telling her no returns are possible, not even for store credit. We're stuck with a dress we don't want because of a mis-informed employee and stringent policies. Buyers beware.

I've always had great customer service experiences in here, which is what's important in a retail store, and more importantly, have found the selection here to be more than adequate. Tip for current Dartmouth students: unlike most J. Crew locations around the U.S., this location lets you stack your student discount (10%) on top of sales prices, which is excellent. The sales associate advised that "most of this section is marked down, I just didn't..like, mark them." When I asked at what point you find out how much an item costs she responded I would learn at the check out and to just "shop like I normally would." Here's the thing, when I shop 'normally' I know what I am paying for an item. I get that if you're shopping in a whale belt store in a preppy town you should expect to pay too much for a tissue of a tank top. What you don't expect is the sales woman to act like you're Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman having a nice spree on Richard Gere's dime. The prices, the "Boys Lie" toxic feminism merch and the attitude of the sales women is all that is wrong with society wrapped up in a tidy little pink rhinestone studded bow.

Got it home and noticed in the brighter light that it had very significant sun stains all the way across the neck and down the arm. Tried to bring it back within the two weeks stated on the receipt and was turned down. Awful customer service -- an item in this damaged condition never should have made it out of the store. And certainly should have been accepted back.
