I was going to write a five star until we got to the cash register…read more We came over here to purchase and donate toys for a nonprofit organization that sponsors needy and homeless families who would otherwise not have a Christmas. We went through the toy section and were pleasantly surprised at seeing Leggos on sale with a table on which several unicorn Lego toys were placed next to a 30% off placard. We got several among other toys. Got to the register and the cashier rang one at full price. Upon our challenge, he started "apparently it depends on the unicorn". Take out or leave it. To put items on a table marked 30% off and then ring the item at full price is horrible ethics. Sadly, we have been assiduous Kohls customers, especially during holiday season.

My Customer pick up item was not in the bin when I arrived and we were assisted by this young man who looked through every single bin in the hopes of finding it and when he could not, he refunded the order with a merchandise credit and helped me locate the items that were on that order, even looking "on the dock" for one of the items when my size was not on the racks. This young man was friendly, apologetic and eager to help and made this bad experience better. I did speak to Manager Chris about this employees excellent service, so I do hope he was acknowledged as he deserves it.

What makes this store better then most of the others is the variety and craftsmanship that can be seen throughout. It also doesn't hurt that you are greeted by the happiest and sweetest dog there upon entering the store. The store itself was beautifully maintained and organized. It had a flow to it that just drew you to ever corner. From the front display of handcrafted metal worked lights to the far back of the store's amazingly knitted coats and hats there is something for everyone to see and purchase for a country home. There is a wide variety of kitchen items such as cutting boards and cheese knives that match with the wood fire glazed pottery. Across from the pottery and kitchen items was a knitting selection of mushrooms and other out there figurines such as fish and sock monkeys. But, the crown jewel of the store in my opinion has to be the jewelry. These items which ranged from necklaces to ear piercings are all handcrafted and beautifully worked. Every case had the name of the crafter on it and the store owner could provide you with more info upon request. Overall this is 1 of 2 stores that should be on everyone's must view list when visiting the town of Woodstock, VT.

Thankfully that this Dollar General store was open on a Saturday night. I usually love these stores…read morebecause they are priced right for the budget friendly traveler, like myself. Dollar General is known for its rock bottom prices, but recently they had to jack up prices because of the inflation caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. With that said, I was here with my friend and we were shopping for stuff to be used for the next morning nearby in Fairlee, Vermont. Was pretty cool about Dollar General is that every day food items are priced lower than what you would find in supermarkets, or anywhere else you would find every day food items. Typically speaking, it was a dollar or so before it jumped. It was disheartening but it is what it is. My experience here at the Dollar General was in the evening on Saturday in May 2022. We were probably the only two people shopping at the time around 7pm and the person at the counter remarked that we didn't seem local to the area. My friend said that we weren't and volunteered the information that he was from Canada and I was from Hawaii. The store clerk eyes were wide open and he kind of had that jaw wide open thing that people tend to do when you tell them you're from Hawaii. I get that a lot especially on travel trips. With that said, we'll probably spend around 45 minutes shopping and looking around for stuff that we needed before we checked out. Do you have a lot of good things here that's priced reasonably well, if not a dollar. The story self is clean and organized to a tee. The vibe here reminds me of a mixture of a convenience store and a hardware store. Still good though. The overall experience here at this Dollar General store here in Fairlee, Vermont was comfortable, intimate, and nice. It was very nice to have a location so close to the accommodations I was staying at. It's great to have these locations out in what most people would deem "middle of nowhere", but small towns anywhere rely on these commercial zones for their daily needs, which I realize that's the case. It was funny that the store clerk reacted the way he did. Funny that someone from Hawaii and Canada walked in at the same time buying something in his Vermont store. Probably happens more than I would notice, but it's an uncommon site, I suppose. Of the items I purchased here, I basically gotten a few boxes of gummy fruit snacks, which came in very handy during my running events and during the flight home. Other items I purchased was a few bottles of water and some Gatorade, also for the race. I didn't purchase too much, since I'd have to carry it around and didn't have that much space to store it if I didn't have to. All in all, it was an experience for sure. Small time vibe but it was a great place to shop, especially for budget friendly folks like me. Come on down, you know you want to! This Dollar General store is located at 123 S US-5 in Fairlee, Vermont. They accept major credit cards as well as cash. It was a stand alone building with a generous parking lot, that seemed lonely at times, but we are in rural southeast Vermont. There was just one vehicle in the parking lot when we rolled in. The same was still there when we rolled out back to the Airbnb that my friend and I were staying at for the night. While this Dollar store is a godsend for travelers like me who need these kinds of services in a small town in Vermont, it's a life-line for those who live in the area. Thankful for Dollar General to be here and happy that I could be here to buy stuff to support the local economy, even if I was just passing thru. Dollar General specializes in anything that most people would need generally on a day to day basis. They mostly stock food items and other household goods. Best thing of value would be the food items for sure. While I should have that night during my experience here, should have checked out the ice cream selections there, but it probably wouldn't have agreed with me while I was strutting 26.2 miles around Lake Morley the next morning. If you are near and or around Fairlee, VT, consider sizing up your ride with snacks and drinks on that road trip in or out of Vermont. Possibly the best pit stop you'll make on this side of the NH/VT state line. I guarantee it! 5.0 stars for the overall experience. Support local! A
