I have been going to Take it Easy for many years. I was a regular before my job switched locations. But I continued craving one of my favorite dishes which is drunken noodles. The sweet basil and savory sauce, noodles cooked El Dante, the beef and mushrooms combination so delicious in every bite. I get medium because I love spicy. I then add that squeeze of lime which adds another level of sweet tang that keeps my fork busy and wanting more. The serving is plenty but I often order a second to take home so I can enjoy that next day. I live about 37 miles away so I can't just go back although I think I could eat there at least twice a month. I also enjoy the beef, asparagus and rice dish. I plan to explore other cuisines once I get tired eating my beef drinking noodles... lol. read more

This was a place that you can rely on for solid tasty standard dishes at competitive prices. I work nearby and come regularly for lunch. They have a wide variety of rice plates. I got squid for a change of pace. Today it was the lamb with vegetables. Yum. They are fast, efficient and remarkably kind. The place is clean but don't come expecting bougie. Also, the owner and employees are so honest. I accidentally left my purse with a lot of cash after lunch. When I called the next day, they reassured me they had it. I tried to give them a tip for keeping it safe and returning it to me. They refused and said insisted, "We do this for all our customers." read more

Hadn't been here in decades, but happened to be in the area, so stopped to see if they were well...the same. Unfortunately, like most eateries of late, they've changed. I got the chicken pad Thai hoping for the nice thin noodles of before, but they've switched to one that's thicker, oh well. I ordered takeout over the phone on a Friday late afternoon. Rad na with tofu: Very saucy, it was sweet and sour - reminds me of sweet and sour or hot and sour soup. Only a little bit spicy. This is one of the few times I've seen rad na on the menu in a Thai restaurant locally. Tofu curry: I thought the tofu was fine too, I like that the tofu was quite firm. A no frills and simple Thai spot. I ordered the Seafood Pad Se Ew. The seafood that was included was shrimp and some calamari strips. The sauce was plentiful and tasty. It was only 13.00. Went here for lunch and ordered vegetable drunken noodles. The place is run by a family of mom dad and son. Mom and son does the cooking dad is at register and serves food to table. Service is quick and very reasonable price for the location and food. The food is made to order and ample quantity and fresh. Have been here a dozen times over the last 6 months. What happened to you, Take It Easy? You were such a local gem and our go-to spot for jungle curry style (no coconut milk) Thai food. Pre-pandemic we enjoyed eating inside, surrounded by plates of chicken or pork jungle curry. Food was never a miss. We finally decided to get take-out again and what we discovered when we sat to eat was simply dismal. Rice and curry in the same container reduced the rice to a mealy mush. It was just a gross mouthful. And the curry was similarly mushy and with muddy flavors. My pork curry had no notes of fresh basil or even the slightest crunch to onions or the baby corn or beans. I would not have known I was eating pork... no flavor came forward. Honestly it tasted like a premade dish you might find on a buffet line late in the day. The husbands lemongrass chicken was similarly mushy, with rubbery carrots, and the entire dish lacking any discernible flavor. And the worst still was the upset stomach I got through the night and the digestive issues the next day. I'm no wimp when it comes to spicy food, and this wasn't from the chilies. Something wasn't right. At a time economically when getting take out is a special event, this was a sad disappointment. We ordered during a quiet time of day (around 330pm), so it's not like the kitchen was slammed. I really hate leaving bad reviews, but hopefully this doesn't happen to others. Great food. I've walked by this place all the time - it's clearly a lunch place as they're apparently not open past 5:30PM. Came in for takeout and ordered a rice plate with chicken curry. They only had one kind of curry but it was delicious with good, strong flavors, mild spice. Quick and packaged well. Reasonably priced for lunch. The price to portion is pretty good here but the flavor is average. Order at the front and pay with cash only. They have a atm on site. I had the jungle vegetable curry @ $7.30 and it was way too watery. They don't use coconut milk in some of the curries and it makes a big difference. Everything about it didn't taste good. I am regretfully giving this review based on the presentation and texture. I've ordered the same thing at several Thai spots (Panang Curry with white rice), but this was the first time that they combined the white rice and curry together. I opened the container when I got home, and was thoroughly displeased. I am used to having a bowl or container of curry, and a serving of rice on the side to control the amount that I want to mix together. Not super authentic Thai food, but not a bad spot to grab some quick eats in the Uptown area. My friend and I were in the area the other day and we stumbled upon Take IT Easy. Since we were hungry and the weather was cold and wet, we decided to give them a try. Upon entering the restaurant, I noticed three ladies in the kitchen feverishly cooking away. There were at least five (maybe six) frying pans going at the same time. The action was fast and furious that I found it to be quite mesmerizing! It was quite a show. Since it was a cold and wet day, I decided to go with the beef noodle soup (#805, $7.75) while my friend went with the garlic beef rice plate (#601, $7.75). we paid the owner, grabbed some napkins and utensils, and found ourselves a table near the back. The restaurant looked very clean. It was lunchtime and the restaurant was about 90% full. Food came quickly. My steaming hot beef noodle soup was pretty large (which made me very happy since I was hungry). Strips of stir fried beef covered the entire bowl of pho rice noodle soup. Taste wise, it was okay. I definitely tasted the sour component in the soup but it lacked the spicy component. The noodles were interesting since I got two types: ho fun (the type used for chow fun) and pho rice noodles. I thought it was kind of strange but it did not impact the taste. My friend seemed to like his dish, as he wolfed down the entire plate in less than five minutes. Overall, it wasn't totally authentic Thai food, but for the price and the amount it was a bargain. Solid 3 stars in my book. If you are looking for something quick in the Uptown area, Take IT Easy is not a bad option. read more

It's chicken, shrimp, and imitation crab with mushroom wrapped and deep fried. It was tasty and different. It comes with white rice, a side salad, slices of oranges, and dipping sauce. The plate was huge, I couldn't finish it. 4/5 Service: Pretty much non-existent. I ordered and paid at the front register. I came here with a big group to celebrate one of my co-worker's birthday. This place is relatively cheap; however, I think that they add a lot of garnishes to give the illusion that your entree is a lot. Some people might light that, but I would prefer to have more of my actual entree than "fillers." Everyone ordered different items, which I can't name them all considering there were 10 of us, but I ordered their House Special BBQ Beef. Compared to my co-workers, my portion was not big and my BBQ beef were thin slices and hard to chew. It looked more like an appetizer. This place do have an extensive menu selection but will only take cash. All in all, I wasn't disappointed but I wasn't satisfied either. Found my authentic Thai fix! I lived in Thailand for 7 years and am picky your my Thai food. Many Thai restaurants in the area are Laotian/Thai food and good as well. But this one is a Thai family owned husband and wife operations and opens on weekdays for offices downtown in Oakland. The food is at a reasonable price for lunch (not sure if they open for dinner and definitely not dine in due to COVID at this time) and the taste of the good brought me back to Thailand despite they don't do fried rice and fried egg on top of your dish like they would in Thailand. Absolutely disgusting...I ordered the most basic menu item (Drunken noodles) and to say I was disappointed is an understatement. It was made with the wrong noodles (not the flat rice noodles), no flavor, and huge mushrooms literally cut in half and dropped in. So disappointing, especially when you buy lunch while at work and won't know it was poor quality until you get all the way back to your office.
