Received an e-mail for $20 dollars off an oil change with an appointment scheduled. I made the appointment Monday September 30th at 5 pm. (pictures attached). I did not print the coupon as the appointment was made with what I thought was the understanding that the coupon was a given with the appointment, (my mistake). Arrived 5 minutes early, the attendant approached my truck stating that I should have waited behind the sign. I felt that was a little rude at the time and because of this parking error I did not receive the promised bottle of water.
I was then directed into the stall and what seemed to be simple pricing on the cart was not. I picked the $83.99 oil change, and I realized that my truck holds an additional quart as my truck is a 2010 with many oil changes in the past. So add $9.99 to the $83.99 everything is ok at this point.
The purchase was rung up the total came to $109.29. I immediately questioned the amount. I stated that the this cannot be, and what about the $20 coupon for the scheduled appointment? The attendant said and I quote "$83.99 for the oil change, $9.99 for the additional quart, $4.99 shop fee and I credited the $20 coupon as a courtesy even though you did not bring it with you." I handed the attendant my credit card and drove out of the stall to look at the invoice and the receipt i was given.
After looking at the invoice and performing simple math, I determined that i was overcharged $22.00 plus tax and paid for the shop fee and additional quart of oil twice. I walked back into the pit area and asked to speak about the bill. The attendant brought out a calculator. I informed the attendant that I can do simple math. I don't understand how the 2 column totals don't match and the overcharge of $22 plus tax and double charged for the shop fee and the additional quart of oil. The attendant stated that "there is federal tax that Take 5 pays, it is included the price." I stated that makes no sense at all. He could not show me how column 1 total of $98.98 did not carry over to column 2 top line of 105.99 and then the double charges for the shop fee and the additional quart of oil. The attendant said I could come back in the morning to talk to the manager. I stated that I would never be back to Take 5 ever again. Please see the attached photos and buyer beware of a simple oil change costing $129.29 before coupon. The attendant informed me that he was the Assistant Manager, however he could not explain the charges on the invoice. I am 64 years old and feel that this business is scamming me. read more
