They will not top off your tires if you go after an oil change. They used to do this, but I was told that "he doesn't want anyone pulling up out front" as I also saw the guy working there yelling. I've had previous good experiences at this location (and others) but today was by far the longest I've ever had to wait foI waited 40 minutes in the 2nd waiting spot just for one car to be serviced (see pic). Then I had to wait another ____ min for the car in front of me to be serviced (they sat in the bay for 14min until actually being started). If your company's prides itself in fast fast fast, this is quite disappointing. I only choose to go here when they have good promo deals but they left much to be desired today. Extremely Disappointed with My Experience I came in for a simple oil change, but ended up sitting for over an hour and a half before someone even started on my vehicle. The place was extremely busy and clearly understaffed, with only two employees actively working the line. At one point, one of the line employees who was greeting customers had to step away from their already overwhelming workload just to inform customers what was going on. Meanwhile, the District Manager was there, but the only support he gave the two line workers was to shake one of their hands. Seeing the shop with waiting customers and only two people working the line instead of helping, he disappeared. That was the only time I saw any management presence. This experience was frustrating, not just because of the wait, but because of the complete lack of communication and support for both customers and staff. Twice, I have tried to get my oil changed here and twice I've had to leave because of the long wait. Not that I was three cars behind in line. There was only one car ahead of me when I got in line but they never started working on that car for 30 minutes while I waited. Yes, there were other cars in the other bays but apparently, they are under staffed and therefore, people must wait. It should not take an hour to get an oil change at a rapid oil change business. I visited take 5 poplar location on my lunch break this afternoon. The service was horrible, literally set in the bay for about 20 minutes before deciding to leave. All the staff were occupied doing other things apparently. No one came over to following up or let me know of the delay. It was insane, as they just walked pass my car 10-15 times (my car was in the middle bay), lack of customer service and support. As I was leaving no apology or anything, he just was like "ok, have a good day". I work as an automotive sales rep and if I was the manager of this facility, it would be some major changes after witnessing an experience like this. I called to be sure I would be in and out. I spoke to the manager Wayne who was very polite and even offered to send me a 25.% off coupon. I was told there was "No wait" and I would be out of there in no time. I arrive about 10 minutes after I hung up withWayne, & it seemed fine, there's only two cars ahead of me. Almost two hours later, I'm sitting there and still haven't gotten my oil changed. I was asked to move to another line and I was finally serviced. But I had an extra hour on a rainy and cold winter's day and I started looking for oil change stations. The reviews were spectacular so I had to give them a try. What a great place! Don't go to Take 5 Oil Change at 6525 Poplar. I called the number on Maps and was told it would be $40 for an Oil Change since I had my own oil and filter. When I arrived, woman was rude when guiding me into the bay. Then told me that it would be $55 and they aren't affiliated with the Take 5 national chain (they are the only one in Memphis that isn't). I told them to go ahead and do it. Then they said, rudely, that I didn't have enough oil. I told them that my owners Manuel says 6L and that's what I had. They argued with me and said my car takes 6.5. Checked my manual again and it said 6.4 with filter. 6.0 without filter. I told them to go ahead and put in the 6L and they refused. I left and went to Valvoline in Germantown. They were wonderful. $35 if you have your own oil. I explained that I thought I might be 1/2 a L short in oil, and they said 6L should be plenty. They were right. After they put in my 6L, they showed me on the dip stick (after running my engine) that 6L was plenty. read more

I had a complete oil change on 04/003/23 I am now due for another oil change so I went to get another oil change, but there was a long line so I decided to do it myself this time. I went to advance auto parts and bought oil and filter. Once I was under the car, I could see next to the oil not the pan was cracked, so I tried to take the oil pan not off with a regular wrench, but it was on so tight I couldn't budget. I had to use a long extension, ratchet and had to use two hands to remove it! Couldn't believe how tight it was it's only supposed to be snug 18-foot pounds max. I proceeded to remove the old oil and put in the new oil. There was over 7 quarts of old oil in the vehicle and should only be 6 quarts. Max. I would like my oil pan replaced placed. vehicle only has 26,000 miles on it. Today on 7/7/23 I received a call from the local Take 5 Oil Change in Inverness Fl. and basically, told me they are not going do anything about it! read more

I arrived at the Take 5 Oil Change on Poplar this morning for an oil change. I was waiting 2nd in line in the far left lane. The whole 40 mins I sat there I was never once acknowledged by anyone. I was completely ignored as other customers pulled up after me in other lanes and were acknowledged and greeted with a bottle water. Then upon completion of being hand signaled into the bay area, the guy just walked off. Did not bother to come over to me to let me know that someone would be with me momentarily or anything. It was horrible. Customer service has drastically declined. It's unprofessional. Will not be returning to this location. read more

I had always gone to these guys for an oil change. The last time my daughter took my car the guys would not let her use the discount because she wasn't the owner. While changing the oil they pinched the o-ring at the oil pan, so the car leaked oil. She took it back so they could CK it, said it wasn't leaking. I took it over there and they refused to even CK under the car, just ck'd the dipstick and said it wasn't leaking. I took my car to VW because the service light was on, only for them to tell me the o-ring was pinched and was leaking oil. Thanks ducks, you not only damaged my rings but it also caused the valve sensors for my oil to need replacing all because you lazy asses wouldn't look under the car. I will be contacting corporate with the proper documentation for reimbursement and I hope you get fired. Oh and not to mention they have taken away the military discount from veterans. You guys suck along with the rest of them. Would not recommend them. Go somewhere else, get better service read more

My wife has gone to this place almost exclusively for 2ish years. Every other time was fine. This last time they informed her she had a temporary plug installed in the oil tank and they would not touch it. When she explained she only got her oil there, they denied touching it. When she produced the card statement showing the store number, the manager finally found proof that the oil was changed at the location to coincided with the sticker on the windshield. Some how it was not in the system according to them. When I reached out to corporate about this they never reached back. After a week I reached back and they said they would put a rush on our claim. 4 days later I get a call from a third party claims dept. They said that I would have to prove to Take 5 that they installed the part. When I attempted to ask how could I prove it the rep kept cutting me off. When I asked for his supervisor he denied me his supervisors name and contact info. He then hanged up on me. When I reached back out to Take 5 they informed me that since the case has moved on to the claims dept. that they can no longer communicate with me. I was able to figure out who the third party claim dept. was and left a message for who I think is the man who called me's supervisor. We will see. Be safe out there. read more

I went in thinking I needed an oil change....for perspective I know 0 things about cars but a "inspection needed" notification came up on my car dashboard and figured I would see if it was an oil change before going all the way to the dealership. They got me in quickly, checked my oil, and said my oil was fine and that I wasn't due for another 5,000 miles. I've been hussled by car people before so I appreciated their honesty because they could've "changed my oil" and charged me and I wouldn't have known the difference tbh. After telling me this they filled my tires up and washed my windshield free of charge! Again, I don't know if this is a regular thing they do or not but I just appreciated the friendly and honest service I received. I didn't get the name of the two people on shift but I came in today (Wednesday July 20th) around 8:30 AM if that helps management acknowledge and show appreciation to their workers. They deserve it! Great service! Shain greeted me upon arrival and agreed to check a problem I was having from a previous oil change(not done at this location). He found that my oil filter had not been tightened correctly and was causing a leak. He replaced the filter, checked the oil level, and refilled my washer fluid. The worst place ever to get an oil change. They run an ad saying you can get one for 27 bucks. You go there only to find out it's for Shrine clown cars only. And their ad for an 18 dollars off is also bogus - it only applies to cars made on Thursday. You call to complain( like they care) and guess what. Sorry the mailbox is full and can't take messages right now. Try to submit written complaint and it will not go thru. So I took my ass to Valvoline and got one for $60 bucks! Holy crap. Great service in under 15 minutes. You can wait in your car while four employees change your oil, clean your windshield, check the air in your tires and top off fluids. They were very friendly and courteous. The manager came over and introduced himself when completed and asked if there were any issues. They have veteran and rideshare discounts. A NIGHTMARE. I bought oil change through Groupon. Called ahead, Asked when to come, Guy answered phone spoke unintelligibly and did not make sense -- NO EFFORT to speak basic standard English. But I had already paid, so I came in. They would not honor my Groupon coupon, said repeatedly they had "nothing to do with Groupon" -- through which they advertise. "Check with Groupon. I just made this purchase an hour ago". They refused to. "We have nothing to do with Groupon". They kept repeating that like a mantra. There were no other customers at this sparkling new facility. Appears to have just opened. VERY TIGHT area for vehicle to maneuver in. Would not remove cones from service bay to let me leave. Because of that I backed into another vehicle sitting there -- also unserviced -- and dented its door. Finally manager showed up. He said they had turned away three OTHER Groupon customers the previous week. District manager in NC was making them take Groupon, and it wasn't working, he said. At least he let me get out through service bay. Customer service in Memphis can be great, it can be horrible -- if you live here you know But this was the worst I've experienced in 20 years. Didn't trust them to service car after this experience, so I lost my money and went to Jiffy Lube. Weren't helping the guy whose door I bumped, either. Just standing around. It was surreal. It was much hotter for him and those guys working on the cars. A couple times before I had the kids with me. Nick gave them juice boxes and a pack of fruit chews.
