I had an appointment at 10:00 for maintenance work. I was told it took about an hour to complete if the customer waits and about 3 hours if it's dropped off. I made it clear that I needed to pick it up at noon and was told that wouldn't be a problem. Arrived a little past noon and they hadn't driven it from the spot I left it. The store manager was off and the technician I spoke to was not very professional. I've taken my car to this location for many years. I've observed through the years that the quality of employees and professionalism have declined. This location is convenient for me but I cannot continue to use this store because of the diminished work ethic and interest in the customer. Do not use Firestone Germantown. Spencer, the service tech, is either incompetent or a pathological liar. I do not know which is worse as a service adviser. I asked for a refund for the service that I was charged for but did not fix my issue. I was told that I has to talk to an Area Manger to do that. I have called the Bridgestone customer service number 5 times over the past 3 weeks and asked for a manager to call me. They say someone will call within 2-3 business days. Noone has called once. I could not have been more pleased w/ the service I received this morning at Firestone, Exeter Road, Germantown. I arrived (for an 8 AM appointment) for an alignment of our older Honda Odyssey. I was there on time. They were expecting me & able to get the van in immediately. The work was completed promptly to a very high standard. The "before & after" print-out showed the alignment improved significantly. Spencer and Tony could not have been nicer to do business with & were both totally professional. As I had to wait for the alignment, I was thrilled that customer seats are far from each other so you do not have to be worried about "catching COVID" from someone sitting in the next seat. 7/15 - had an appt at 2:30 pm for an oil change and was to pick my car up in between 5:00 and 5:30 pm, I didn't hear from them so I called and was told they ran into some issues so it would be ready by 7:00 pm. I still didn't hear from them that my car was ready so I called again. They said they had more issues, not with my car but another car and my car would be ready at 9:30 the next morning. 7/16 - Received a voicemail with an update on the transmission fluid. They were getting transmission fluid from the dealer. I immediately called to find out why they were getting transmission fluid when I took my car in for an oil change. They drained the transmission fluid instead of the oil. Later that day they told me it had to be towed to Memphis Motor Works. 7/17 - Called for an update on my car, they were waiting for it to be towed, 7/18 - Called again for an update, car to be towed and completed today. Received call that it would now be ready noon Fri. 7/19 - Next, it wouldn't be ready at noon but will be kept updated over the weekend. 7/20 & 21 - No calls from Firestone. 7/22 I called again at 2:42 for update on my car. Learned my car was now at Wilson Imports. My car would be ready for pickup within the hour. I called again at 5:15, they were just picking my car up. Went to pick it up at 6:30. They guaranteed me the oil was changed even though there was no sticker and the maintenance indicator in the car wasn't reset. The car was also filthy and the glovebox content was on the floor. 7/23 I went back after I checked the oil level indicator in my car and it showed less than 1/2 full. They changed the oil again and this time the oil level indicator showed full. I filed a complaint with Bridgestone customer service on 8/4, Customer service responded that the area manager should contact me within 2 business days. Never received a call or any follow-up from Firestone or Bridgestone. read more

They did a great job keeping me in the loop on the satus of my car, given that the power went out in the shopping center this location is in the day that I dropped off my car. They do a decent job, I feel comfortable leaving my cars with them but I take their recommendations for services with a grain of salt. Their job is to try to sell you services so I understand but I apply common sense to whatever they say when making my decisions. There is one older guy in there (Mike I believe), he's not very friendly but other than that the younger guys seem to get me squared away with no problems! They're okay, but be prepared to spend. Bad: They will (obviously) try to sell you new tires. That's just how it is. Neutral: Went in for an alignment, as my steering wheel had some tilt and it seemed to be getting worse. When I left, my steering wheel was tilted, but the other way this time. But they DID get it aligned, so that's okay. Bad: One of the technicians left oil on my steering wheel. Dude. Good: Came in for alignment, oil change, and front brake exam. Left with rear brake issues fixed, alignment done, oil changed, and knowledge that my CV boot is torn and that my front brakes are okay. Bad: Had to pay for a $400 brake job in addition to the issues I came in for. Oh well. Conclusion: Good for more complex issues. For example: because your spark plugs are under a hard-to-remove intake manifold and you don't have the knowledge to do it yourself. Or because you don't have an alignment machine. For oil changes and brake jobs though, you can do that in your own driveway for far cheaper than what they charge. Weigh the pros and cons carefully. read more

I couldn't even get the desk guy to answer me on how much it costs to patch a tire when he said they patch tired from the inside. I asked if that meant they don't use plugs. He said they remove tire from rim and apply an internal patch. Not a problem, when I asked how much it costs he asked me what yr model my car was. Ok, folks - straight up. I don't like chain or franchise auto service stores. The service is not always consistent. HOWEVER, I met Jonathon, the manager of this location years ago at another Firestone. I think the assistant manager might be Charles - could be wrong. I use whatever Firestone Jonathon works at for my company vehicles. One of my service folks called me last week complaining about a noise in the front end (of the vehicle). It was almost 5:00 pm so I drove to Exeter in traffic hell to rescue my guy. When I arrived at Firestone, I spoke with the Firestone Tech And Jonathon. It was ugly news. We needed a transmission. I asked Jonathon to park it until I could clear my head to spend $3700 on a top end Jasper Tranny. Jonathon had priced everything, consulted with Jasper on the problem and got me up to speed on the failure. I did due diligence and was able to confirm the exact problem described to me and the fact that this particular transmission was prone to spline shearing and was well overdue to drop dead. Jonathon told me he could likely get the tranny in by Friday if I confirmed by Wednesday at noon. If that happened, he expected to have it back in our hands by Sunday. Wow. So I dutifully called for Jonathon before Wednesday noon. He took the day off for his birthday. I had his cell number from long ago, but decided he must have left this in capable hands. I told the guy on the phone what I needed, he got me to Charles and Sunday we were on the road. I may not love the chain auto service centers, but when Jonathon runs a Firestone, it is run right. read more

Left car there to replace starter. Was told that batt terminal lead needed to be replaced and had to order from dealership. After 1 week and repeated phone calls to get the status, finally got cable and now said starter was bad. Won't accept me bringing over refurb starter from autozone. Said they can get starter from autozone but marked it up almost 50% plus $120/hr in labor. They justified markup because they had to "compete with other repair shops in the area". Going now to pu car and take to Raliegh tire in Cordova where I should have gone in the first place. Unless you have unlimited funds, stay as far away from this place as possible! read more

Last sunday, I Left the car at 1pm for alignment and Wheel balance and was promised to get it back by 5. They gave me a call by 4:36pm that its ready but I planned to be there by 5. I took my car in for several issues one of which was a water pump. I did not want to put any more money into it unless it was going to be fixed. ( I know new issues can come up later) I was told that 2000.00 dollars would cover it all. I was very clear that if I was putting $2000 into a car I had already put too much into unless it would have all its issues delt with. When I picked it up and paid $2040.00 the only thing fixed was the water pump. The technician I had talked to wasn't in and the one there said they were only told to fix the water pump. It died 3 times driving out the drive. I will go back to Ballingers shell on poplar and Perkins. I went to Firestone because I knew I shouldn't drive it very far and they did a good job on my tires. Remember to get everything in writing (parts and labor); then take a picture of the invoice or ask for a copy before you leave, on sign in; but only once you have at least verbal mutual consent for them to proceed to do the work for a certain, locked-in price. Once you return, ask them to take you to your vehicle and show you what all they accomplished, making sure that everything is CORRECT. If you use a credit card, and you name, is Gayle Doe, SIGN as "Gayle Doe, without prejudice" - this way you have legal rights to file a DISPUTE with your credit card folks. If you initial something, do it as "gd without prejudice". Example they scanned only one diagnostic code on exhaust system; only one code came up for the rear sensor; they changed both/TWO without any consult with me nor verbal approval from me. They charged me well over $225 a piece for each, and I can purchase them for about $80 each at RockAuto.com. I suggest you bring your own, cheaper parts. I filed DISPUTE with credit card folks on many issues and lost because I did not sign as "Gayle Doe without prejudice". Remember to add the WITHOUT PREJUDICE to your signatures and initials, it gives you legal grounds to fight back; you and possibly your lawyer will be happy you did. Avoid, avoid, avoid. Horrible customer service and extremely overpriced. My first few times in were okay, and then every time I took my car in, the same guy helped me and he was extremely rude. The spark plugs they installed on my car were crap, and it started to idle roughly. I took my car elsewhere to have it looked at because I was so sick of dealing with the guy at this location. A different time, I paid double what the fair price is for a repair because "a dealer part had to be used". The code and subsequent repair were due to a recall on my car. I know that's partly due to a lack of attention on my end, but they should also know and tell me these things. ESPECIALLY since they had to go through the dealer for a part. This location is conveniently located for me, but I would rather drive 20 minutes to the new repair place I'm using than deal with the rudeness of the staff and their super high prices. read more

Ok I had the worst day yesterday. I purchased a set of Firestone tires and installed them. Before I go any further I will tell you I own and operate an independent auto repair shop. Something went wrong with the new valve stems I installed and I had a flat while my wife was driving.....I thought it was a fluke and drove to Memphis anyway.....I had another one fail in 95 degree heat during rush hour on the side of the freeway. Long story short I arrived at this Firestone skeptical as I'm in the business and hear horror stories all the time. I did not inform them of anything other than my automotive needs......I am very impressed! They had every opportunity to lie cheat or steal by trying to sell me something-which I did not need. As many of us know, it is all too often the case that one under performing employee in an organization can besmirch the reputation of an otherwise well functioning group of workers. I had the unfortunate experience of finding that person when I took my car in for service of a nail punctured tire. Despite having an appointment it took well over three hours to have a tire plugged as the result of a nail puncture. Mike Oatsvall distinguished himself as being surly, rude, uninformative and simply a pain in the ... My observation was that he was this way to several customers during my wait and his lack of courtesy was not related to gender or age of the customer. Several of the customers looked at other customers and rolled their eye and frowned as they left the business. As the saying goes, this is not my first rodeo but this horse's a.. is poorly suited for dealing with the public. The rest of the workforce that I saw seemed great - normal social skills. read more

One star is way too generous for my experience @ this Firestone location. Brought my 2005 Porsche Cayenne in for a flat repair & a new battery. I was hoping to wait while these simple issues were taken care of, but they asked if could leave the car & they would call me in the afternoon when it was ready- fine- they're busy, no big deal. They didn't call, so @ 5:30pm I called them to see if my car was ready. The guy I spoke with said: "yeah, I tried to call you this afternoon. Your car is ready- we fixed your flat. We didn't install a new battery though, you're going to have to go to the dealer for that." Let me pause this narrative to point out that if my phone's memory has no missed calls or incoming calls of any kind from someone, that person did not "try to call me." So, lie #1. Moving quickly to the next lie, the explanation for not performing the service I left my car at this place all day to have done: "We didn't replace your battery because that would have reset your vehicle's computer memory, we're recommending that you take it to the dealer." This is not a lie in itself, in fact, it is true for most vehicles on the road today, which is kind of what makes it a ridiculous explanation. The reality is, my car's battery is a little tougher to change, it takes 15 minutes instead of 5 & they couldn't be bothered. In concept, they are entitled to turn down business because it's too time consuming & low margin - sure, but agreeing to do it, keeping my car all day, then giving me that line of crap is not ok. When I picked my car up, I politely told the guy (Jason) that their story was questionable, and that the way they handled the whole thing was unprofessional. He said: "Ok. It's $45.73." & left me to jump start my car in the parking lot. $25 of the $45 was to check my battery....Taken individually, the lies, the failure to get in contact, the absolutely horrible customer service are not the worst I've ever heard, in fact there are much worse stories about these guys in some other reviews I read, but wrap my experiences up into an overall picture of the way these guys operate, and ask yourself if you really want to give this place your business. Our vehicle was involved in a minor accident, took it to this store for repair. They gave us an estimate to fix the vehicle. They then contacted us after they had done all the work they quoted but said we had to take the vehicle to a dealer to complete the repair. The vehicle was not drivable and we had to pay full amount, almost $4,000 so they would release it. We paid the dealer another $1500 to complete repair. Needless to say we would have never agreed to have the work done had they told us they couldn't fix the problem completely to start with. Management was very unresponsive, namely John D... who identified himself as the region manager. The ethics in this organization are questionable at best. I guess that is why the ratings for this store are so bad. We are continuing to pursue our options. Hope this helps someone else from being defrauded. I've never gotten my brakes done before so this was my first time doing so. Firestone was the only place I knew off the top of my head that could replace brakes. So I called and set up an appointment. After I dropped my car off at 8:30 this morning I got a call about 2 hours later about what needed to be done to my car. Among these were: brakes, rotors, new tires, and tire alignment. First off, I knew that my tires were perfectly fine, so why was this even an option other than to add more to the price? Secondly, this being my first time replacing brakes, I wasn't sure what rotors were or how long it had been since the car had had them replaced. So I went ahead and got them done without outside consultation. After Firestone employees had finished with my car, I came to pay for my service and the rotor job alone was about $430, which I was told later on by my dad that I didn't even need to begin with. So I was basically charged DOUBLE what I should've paid for my service on top of also being suggested that I ALSO PAY for new tires and the alignment that I actually KNEW that I didn't need anyway. My dad had me call some other places that he knew of like Jones Auto Care on Poplar Avenue who said they could do my brakes for a simple $200, beating Firestone $400 service, not including the $430 practical overcharge for the unnecessary rotor replacement. $200 for what I need beats a $950 overcharge any day of the week. read more
