I gave them my own oil and filter I had bought and told them to use that since I needed an oil change asap and didn't have the opportunity to do it myself at the time. I did the next oil change myself which is when I found out there was a different filter on my car instead of the one I had given them to use. They took the Mobil1 oil and filter I told them to use and instead used the cheapest stuff off the shelf. I also remember about 5 years ago I went here with a different car and they forgot to put the plastic underneath the car back on properly, so it was scraping everywhere I went until I went back and had them put it back on which took all of 15 seconds for them to do. I still sometimes see cars nowadays rolling around with that same piece of plastic dangling underneath their car because it wasn't put back on right. This is one of those places that contributes to this phenomenon and will steal if they have the chance. I wouldn't even trust that they're putting fully synthetic oil when you pay for it unless your car requires it. read more

This Take 5 location was convenient to get an oil change, especially since it's advertised that they are quick. I will say that once the process started to change my oil, it was very quick (about 20 minutes or so). However, this was after waiting at least 20 minutes in one of the bays. When I arrived, there was one bay open and I was ushered to pull in. At that point, I turned my car off and left my windows open; I wish I hadn't done that because there is absolutely no airflow and like other "stay in your car" oil change places I've gone to, they did not appear to have a portable A/C that fits into windows. I watched from my driver's seat as no less than 5 employees attended to one car next to me...and by "attended" I mean one person doing work and 4 other people just watching. During this time, I received little to no communication until one employee kindly pointed a fan in my direction as I was visibly sweating at this point. When the oil change was done, I asked if someone could reset my "change oil" light on my car and despite them advertising they service European vehicles, I was told they didn't know how to do it. In past places I've gone it, someone has just plugged in a device to reset it. Not sure why this wasn't an option. While I know I can YouTube how to do this myself, it was a slight annoyance to not have this done for me as part of my oil change. I'm giving 3 stars for the speed of the actual oil change and for the reasonable cost of my full synthetic oil. The wait while in a bay with little to no communication and seeing multiple employees seemingly doing nothing was very frustrating (deserving of 2 stars). Not a good experience today.....went after 6 for the 50% oil change.....price had changed after I called earlier today. Took 25 to 30 minutes for them to even get started on my car...3 people on 1 car and I'm just waiting. The Manager was on the phone the entire time I was there getting service...I even think he changed the oil in my car on the phone, when he came from under the bay he was still on the phone. When they finished she showed me the dip stick stated they were finished and I was free to leave....I wasn't asked to accelerate the car to get the oil flowing or nothing. I wanted to save a few bucks by going to 5minute but I knew better. Reason being is I've been in the industry. Not saying they don't always do a good job but when your a pit tech and you mess up occasionally by not properly putting right amount of oil or even sometimes allowing the customer to drive off without changing the filter because you had a hard time removing it or finding it on some vehicles is something that takes place. I tipped them 20 bucks. Got back to the house, allowed everything to settle, checked my oil later and sure enough super low from the topped off line. Had a girl at the windows asking me silly questions that any knowledgeable tech would already know, therefore I asked to speak to the other person to make sure they removed my filter that it had to be clogged because I was way way over due for a change with it being an old work truck. I'm not sure that even happen. You can't be loyal 90 percent of the time and say your loyal, just like you can't say your honest when your honest 90 percent of the time. Point being is you can't service vehicles and do a good job 95 percent of the time and call it good, people's behave their livelihoods and simple oil changes must be done correctly every time. Drove up, one person greeted me, started entering my info into computer but meanwhile he calls over 4 or 5 other employees to start working on the car. They each had their roles, communicated what they did to guy on computer and asked him to provide relevant specifications for car model. I went to the location on Bluebonnet in Baton Rouge , La . on 2/21/23 for an oil change. They changed my oil and then I told them they needed to reset my service due signal . On person tried , a second person tried but to no avail. There were 4 guys working and neither of them knew how to reset the service due signal . They could not do it individually nor could they come together and figure it out as a team. All were absolutely ILLITERATE. The best resolution they had to offer was I could take my car to the dealership and they could reset the service due signal. Better yet , I was told I could go to another location and someone MAY be able to reset it . Then to make matters worse, my husband looked at the oil filter that they have checked off on the list as CHANGED , has not even been changed. This is the WORST PLACE to get your oil changed. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO NO ONE. They are absolutely GARBAGE . CUSTOMER SATISFACTION MEANS NOTHING TO THIS COMPANY. Then I finally realized why one of the guys was standing there counting the cars waiting to be serviced. Their main goal is just to change oil in as many cars as they can so they can meet their daily quota. Sometimes convenience is not always the best decision. I hope this review helps someone, because this experience surely open my eyes. I will never patronize Take 5 oil change again and I will spread the word for others not to patronize them as well. I decided to try this place out since I needed an oil change in my car. When I arrived, they were somewhat busy (I was the 3rd car in line). The line moved faster than I would have thought. When I pulled up to the spot, I was greeted by a man named Albert. He was very polite and offered me something to drink. He was very knowledgeable of what oil I needed for my car. All of the workers were communicating back and forth. You could tell that they had great communication and teamwork! It took about 15-20 minutes for them to work on my car. Overall great service! I just left the Bluebonnet location, worst oil change EVER! 0 Stars is what it deserves!!! These people are major con artist, they MUST make a type of commission to upsell you. In my experience today, I refused the upcharge, SO HE just upcharged me anyway. I knew this was going to go badly when I drove up and 6 employees were paying around the oil pit doing nothing. Also as I read all the other reviews!! I drove up, was told I MUST stay in my car, something I have never done at other locations. It's 100° under there! I had a $5 off coupon on my phone. They took my phone out of my hand and walked it around to everyone there, laughing, acting 'insane' over this "old" coupon, that had no expiration date on it. So unprofessional. Then I was asked if I wanted to donate change to hungry children, I did, but do not believe it is going anywhere other than their pocket. Then, I asked for a manager, because even though I CLEARLY stated that I wanted the basic, they put the synthetic in and expected me to pay for it. I had to wait for them to drain the synthetic oil out and put in the regular! I waited 10 more minutes for the REAL manager to come out, and he was as unprofessional as he could be. Basically, no apology, just WHAT DO YOU WANT NOW?! After sitting and reading all the con games listed on their reviews plus all the overfilling and underfilling of oil in cars, causing major damage, I asked to be shown the dipstick. It was correctly done. They just walked off and I drove off. I emailed customer service before I drove off, gave them my contact info, but not heard a word. I was told these locations are all owned by a corporation, but it is obvious they are independently owned. I love this place! I have a busy schedule and often don't have time to go get my car serviced during usual business hours. 5-Minute seems to be open later than most places, and you can't beat not having to get out of your car! The employees are always helpful, friendly, and very professional. They keep track of the type of oil my car uses and make sure to check the level of my other fluids as well. They always offer me a drink while I wait, as well. I have not had the problem of employees upselling me as other reviewers mentioned. Also- if you're inclined to leave a tip, be sure to tell them before they run your card, because there's no space for a tip on the final receipt! read more

I have been several times, and I am generally ok with the service. I mostly go because I am typically in a hurry when I remember to get my oil changed. They are quick, and the prices are not too bad, and they will serve you a drink in your car while you wait. There are a few pretty glaring problems with the business though. The first is that I am pretty sure that the technicians don't really know much about cars. I once asked them if they could look at some minor aspect of my engine while they were already changing the oil, and they told me that they couldn't. I also don't like how they always try to upsell you. I go in for an oil change, and they want me to buy new wiper blades and filters and anything else that is easy for them to change. However, the biggest problem is that the last time I went in for an oil change, they put the reminder sticker in my windshield saying that I needed another oil change in 2,500 miles. I am going to need another oil change soon, and I doubt I will be back again. Overall, they are convenient and reasonably priced, but be aware that they will try to upsell you. I would drop by if you need an oil change in a hurry, but that is about it, I would find a higher-quality place that is more trust worthy. read more

This is a very convenient way to get your oil changed. I was able to get an oil change and then sit down for lunch in under an hour. The price was comparable to most, plus I had a coupon from their website. As with most places in this 21st of centuries, I just showed it to them on my phone (save a tree). I purchased the cheapo oil, and with a $5 off coupon, the total was $33. Jonathan is correct in that they will try to upsell you, but that's the nature of all these types of business. It's in the script and isn't necessarily a rip off if you can't do some things like change wipers yourself (BTW, learn. It's really very easy). It wasn't really a hard sell to me though. He told me that he suggested a transmission flush...and that theirs is the cheapest in town ($99), and that I needed a coolant flush. I knew about coolant, but was glad to hear about transmission b/c I had no idea. Unfortunately for them I'll be taking my car to Siegen Car Care for these more invasive types of maintenance. Be sure you know what kind of oil Take 5 put in for you last oil change otherwise they will refuse you service, even if you have the sticker that says what kind you had last time, if you can't point it out on the price list, they will close your hood and send you away!! The service here was AWFUL. Dee (who was working with me) pointed to the two most expensive oils. I said no politely, and I asked for the oil change the costs $49.99. He kind of brushed me off when I said that, but definitely heard me. I was loud and clear. They complete the oil change. He comes over to my window and says that it will be $76. I said "how? I asked for the cheapest oil." And he responded "oh we don't have that one". I told him how absurd that was that he failed to mention it. At this point his curt attitude and terrible service angered me, so I gave him my card and figured I'd deal with someone else later. When I got the receipt l, it said $80... not $76. Bunch of lies. Since this happened, I have been trying to get refunded for what I didn't agree to pay for. They left me on hold for 45 min. Then they hung up on my boyfriend and I each THREE times.
