The inside is a little small, however, they have a second floor. The store has good ambiance and a good Japanese feel. When you enter, a sushi bar greets you. Just by looking at the menu alone, you will notice that it is a no-frills, authentic Japanese restaurant. We had most of everything on their menu: - Green Salad - your favorite greens with carrots on a roasted sesame dressing. Normal but not overpowering. - Ebi Tempura - Crunchy but the breading is too thick and bread-y at the same time. - Yaki Soba - right balance of sourness and sweetness. Good for sharing. - Unagi Don - love the rice as they use real short grain rice. The eel is enough for the rice. - Chicken Teriyaki Don - rice is good. Chicken has good flavor but quite dry. - Chicken Katsu - tender and doesn't have sharp breading. - Uni Tempura - takes awhile to serve but serving of uni is generous. - Salmon Sashimi - a bit too frozen for me. Overall, a good place to dine with friends especially if you are craving for good Japanese food. A bit pricey, but pays for quality. Service is impeccable.

No wonder this is also the favorite restaurant of our dear President. Says a lot about his taste in food! While I usually frequent their Pasay Road branch (where President Aquino usually dines), I find this branch a lot bigger and perhaps a lot cleaner. The food is practically the same so I find myself eating more frequently here. However, I was quite shocked to find out about the jacked up prices of my favorite eel set meal. While I do understand how difficult and expensive it must be to get a hold of and cook eel, one bite of this dish and the price is always worth it. There is perhaps no other restaurant that offers eels as yummy as this. Thanks to President Aquino for the reco!

The first time I read about natto, I was equal parts intrigued and disgusted by it. Given that, the one thing I was totally sure of was I had to try it. Until I came across Nihonbashitei, this bummed me out because I couldn't find a place in the metro that served it. If you're an adventurous eater looking for new Japanese dishes to try, you're going to love this place. Even if you aren't that fond of much outside the staples like sushi, yakitori, and katsu, you're still going to enjoy yourself because everything on the menu is a treat. Cheers!

I ordered the hanger steak and it was ok. The texture of the meat was good but it was missing something. The chicken teriyaki wasn't grilled but slightly battered. The tuna maki was good. The service was a little slow and there weren't that many customers in the restaurant. The restaurant is clean and has a nice ambiance.

So when you finally do come across a restaurant that's very authentic, you take note of it and such a place is Ogawa. It's right here in Bonafacio Global City (BGC). Their vast menu is quite impressive and the sashimi was super fresh and they had two types of sea urchin (local and from Japanese waters). We had both and by far, the imported uni from Japan was much better in texture and taste. I also enjoyed the nigiri set and I haven't had toro (fatty tuna) in soooo long, I'm glad that I splurged and had that too. That was incredibly soft and fatty. We had a party of 6, and we were able to reserve a private room, that was special. There's a big pahking lot and that's uncommon. I would definitely come back here again for a real deal, Japanese meal. Arigato Ogawa!!

So, we decided to have another try at a birthday dinner a few weeks later and came to this amazing restaurant. The first thing we always look at when we come to a teppan place is how they care for their grill, and Teppan Okochi keeps their grills spotless. We knew we were in for some well-prepared food. As an American, I am used to the circus atmosphere at teppan restaurants - you know, the onion volcanos, spatula flipping, etc. This is not that sort of teppan place. This is elegance and grace. The food here will typically set you back a few hundred bills, depending on your particular culinary selection. The particular spread in our pictures amounted to considerably more than that. But it was most definitely worth it! The service is on point, and the food is beautifully prepared and absolutely heavenly to the taste. My favorite items we chose were the wagyu beef, the garlic fried rice, and the strawberries. We ordered a tray of the strawberries to take home, in fact. My husband adored the sashimi, the crab, and the wagyu. What was quite charming was that the waitstaff presented us with some complimentary gifts of sweets before we left. My husband was quite happy with this birthday dinner experience.

The second time we went for dinner and sat in the private room area. The food was still delicious, but the service was so slow. We spent almost 2 hours there as each dish came out.
