This time the visit was with my parents, my brother, my husband and me. We were served with delicious complimentary tofu with a great-tasting sauce. My brother ordered the aji tataki for us to start off and it's been a while since I've had this. Beautifully done and very tasty! My brother got the chirashi bowl. My husband and I shared the Gindara kaku bento - grilled cod fish, salad, salmon and tuna sashimi, tempura, miso soup with clams and mango ice cream. For dessert, fruits was the other option. My brother also ordered several chawanmushi for us to share. My parents shared the Nigiri kaku bento. There was so much food. The one down side was the fish in my parents' bento box was a bit tough, unlike the gindara that we had. I would probably recommend the Gindara kaku bento between the 2 bento boxes. We also had this soup that came in a small teapot. I had missed jotting down the name but you drink the soup from a miniature teacup. Glad we didn't order more food because there was already lots of food! Highly recommend!

It's 8 pieces and after 6 I'm already full. Tempura was nothing special. Came with 4 pieces of shrimp tempura and one piece of okra tempura and miso soup. The food isn't amazing but it's not bad! Definitely satisfies my futo maki craving. I think it's a great place for big groups. It's not the cheapest Japanese restaurant maybe it's better even just go to a buffet like Sambokujin. But it's location is easy to get to and I'm satisfied after the meal. I'll be back and hopefully I part ways with my futo maki and get a different dish. :)

Castor, it's across the 24-hour Family Mart and is near Afters Espresso and Dessert. Parking is a little bit difficult. It seems like they don't have the same valet service as the Makati branches. Compared to the other branches, this new one is definitely more brightly lit and spacious. They still have the bar seating and booth seating on the first floor. Then there are more booths on the second floor, along with some private rooms for groups. If you're having a hard time choosing your order, the bento boxes offer great value for money and allow you to try a handful of dishes. I'm always a fan of their shrimp tempura, fish tempura, their soba and the spicy tuna maki. I did notice, however, that the spicy tuna maki in this branch seems to be smaller in size than the Makati branches. In any case, it's still really good stuff. This branch also offers the grilled items that you can grill at your table. I personally like the US Karubi and US Rosu. The restaurant was quite busy on a Saturday night so make reservations or prepare to wait in line. It's worth it though!

With its classy interior and Japanese grilled dishes, one will think it is expensive. I tried to steer away every time I visited Fisher Mall. Good thing a friend invited me here for lunch. I had the greatest opportunity to try their dishes. We met with the owner Avin, and tried their offerings. My other reason for not visiting this place was because I have abstained from beef starting last year. With the cow in their logo, I am pretty sure they specialize in beef. However, the owner was very persuasive in allowing us to try their Japanese style beef stew. It is a soup by the way. When the soup was served, I tried to fight all urges, but the soup was so fragrant, I had to really try it. "Just the soup", I thought. The soup was delicious. It tasted like the beef had been simmering for a day or two. The meat and tripe were also very tender that a person with no teeth will not have a hard time swallowing. The soup itself is a meal in itself and also worthy of a 5.0 review. Unfortunately, it didn't stop there. We tried the most expensive thing in their menu - the all-beef platter. If you study the anatomy of a cow, most probably all of the edible parts are in the platter. You can eat this with the provided lettuce or with their fluffy rice. I did it with the rice, one spoonful for a piece of those high-quality beef. One unique thing about them is the given sweet and spicy sauce for your beef to dip in as it enhances the flavor of the marinated beef. My favorite among the meat are the hanging steak and inner skirt. If you want to have the experience of cooking, then do it yourself. If you want to relax, you can ask the server to cook the meat for you. The beef platter is worth beyond 5.0. While waiting for our beef to get cooked, we also tried their Mango and Kani Salad, Spicy Tuna Maki Roll, and Salmon Sashimi. The mango and kani salad is very simple yet tasty and filling. The maki has a great fresh tuna taste with a spicy topping that creates an appetite. The salmon sashimi was also great as it didn't come from the freezer which normal Japanese restaurants would serve. I committed a sin for eating beef today, but if there is one thing I would do it again, it will probably for these yummy beef from Sandaya. Aside from beef, they also offer different choice of meats in really good prices, which I can't wait to try next time. Bring your friends and have a good time, because as Sandaya would say: "Great stories begin when you light up the grill" and that's the Sandaya Promise.

I like how the simple Japanese mayo dressing of this dish is lighter than most salads served at other restaurants. Soup - One of the owners of Sandaya recommended the Japanese Style Beef Stew. To say that this soup is really good is an understatement. It is unbelievably good! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS DISH! The broth has such a rich flavor that only comes with simmering for at least 24 hours. The beef and the tripe are tender and flavorful. I would seriously order rice with this dish, and it could be a meal in itself. Salmon sashimi - I love this dish! In other restaurants, sashimi is usually sliced very thinly. At Sandaya, diners get six THICK slices of salmon. Spicy tuna maki - This is very good, but it can use a little more spice. I normally don't like using wasabi, hence my preference for something that is served already well-seasoned. Grilled beef - This is the highlight of the meal: 900 grams of top-quality meat imported from the US, Australia, and Japan. The meat is served marinated and ready to cook on smokeless grills. There are several cuts of beef to choose from, and all have very good marbling. Perfect paired with Sandaya's fluffy Japanese rice. The meat platter served that day I believe was the most expensive one on the menu, but Sandaya Yakiniku also has an affordable eat-all-you-can package which I am excited to try on my next visit with friends. #TheFoodCrawlers

Recently, I've tried their Mt. Fuji Roll which has deep-fried tuna, unagi, and cream cheese. The taste is eel-ectrifying (ha!). I like how the mild taste of the cream cheese balances out the saltiness of the tuna and unagi. Aside from the usual fare of sashimi and maki, I almost always go for teriyaki chicken when eating at Japanese restaurants. Omakase's teriyaki chicken is good; it has that smokey, savory flavor that's important in teriyaki chicken, though I guess it's a little too sweet. With its intimate setting, I'd consider it a great place to go to when with family or friends. If you're going in a large group, try the Sushi Boat but prepare to go a little overboard (another ha!) on your budget.

My favorites would have to be their Beef Tepenyaki, Epi Tempura and Japanese Fried Rice. These three staples would definitely satisfy my Japanese craving. Unfortunately, Japanese food does not come cheap. So when I'm low on cash, I end up ordering their Chicken Katsudon which is equally satisfying. Make sure to ask for an extra serving of their special sauce to make sure you get all your rice soaked in that yummy sauce.
