I only got to try Yakimix around a year or more after it became the fashionable and must-try buffet, thanks to a discount coupon site. It was my first time to try a grill-and-eat-all-you-can restaurant, and I liked it. Each table comes with a smokeless grill, so I grilled salmon, tuna, and other fish and seafood to my heart's content. I quickly decided salmon was the best (savory and smoky, with just a hint of sweetness) and proceeded to get more of it for a second round.
The other dishes, quite honestly, were a blur for me as it was really the grilled fish, seafood, and vegetables that stood out for me, as after all, this is what the place is known for. The other dishes were ok, though.
The desserts though, were average to below average. While I did not expect the desserts to be that sweet, as I know the Japanese palate is not accustomed to much sweetness, I had hoped to taste the richness and flavor of the ingredients.
All in all, though, I had a pleasant experience at Yakimix. read more
