Wonderful place. Wonderful owner. Food makes my husband happy, since he's algerian. The owner is Algerian too, so we were happy all the way around. Food is on poiny point.

Authentic moroccan cuisine and the moroccan mint tea and decor is phenomenal. We ordered the lamb tagine, the lemon olive chicken and the taktuka and moroccan mint tea. The home made moroccan bread was delicious. Wish we could have tried more off the menu but we were so full!

Went to this Moroccan tajines place today with my girlfriend since she never tried Moroccan food before, and it ended up being such a good choice. The chicken couscous and beef tajine were honestly amazing super flavorful and really authentic. The vibe was chill too. They had Moroccan music playing, and the woman who served us was super nice and made the whole experience even better. If you're looking for something tasty and different, you should definitely check this spot out. We're for sure going back.

Nestled right next to Golden Boys (and sometimes hidden by the line)...is the most amazing Moroccan restaurant! I must have walked past it 50 times and never noticed! Which is wild because this has to be some of the most amazing food I've ever had in my entire life! I got some take out after work tonight for my husband and myself. We got to try the chicken tajine and the chicken bastilla. What just happened in my kitchen could easily be described as two wild beasts ravaging through some chicken like they've never eaten a morsel of food in their entire lives. We didn't even use plates like the Neanderthals that we've become because of this food! Seriously though, the sauce on the chicken tajine has to be made from magic. We were just transported to euphoria with that dish! And the homemade bread is perfect for sopping it all up! And as someone who isn't a big fan of sweets, the bastilla is the dessert made for savory lovers. The sweetness and the cinnamon and the pastry and the savory chicken...HOW?! How did they do that?! Chef Maria is a genius! I am so very excited to go back and try the food while sitting in this gorgeous restaurant. And next time I'll definitely try the mint tea! I regret turning it down today haha everyone needs to come experience the masterful dishes at Tajine!

Had such a great experience at Tajine! The food was full of flavor and everything tasted fresh and authentic. The service was even better--Mariaa and Nasal were so kind and welcoming, they really made us feel at home. Can't wait to come back!

Food was amazing. Super authentic Moroccan food! I'm Moroccan and this is Moroccan approved! We ordered the Chicken Bastilla, Tagine, and lentil soup. All amazing. Must get the Moroccan mint tea.

Tajines is a magnificent find !! We had a great time while receiving the most excellent service ever!! Slimane is so charismatic, the food was delicious we had scallops, beef couscous, and beef Tajines. Such a cool Moroccan atmosphere makes you feel like you're on vacation in the north of Africa. Definitely recommend trying this unique place in the mist of all the Italian restaurants in the North Beach area.

Cous-cous is my favorite Moroccan dish. Order it any day of the week at Tajines in SF, but in Morocco it's mostly served Fridays only.

The 5 course is the perfect share for 2 and I highly recommend the shrimp kabab though my friends all say the lamb is the best. The atmosphere is so fun and the belly dancing is so much fun they really incorporate the audience. Everything is perfectly cooked and honestly some of the best Moroccan food I've had. Go here!!! The negative reviews are seriously missing out. The service doesn't have the same flow as other restaurants, but that's by design, they want you to relax and enjoy your time there if you want things done more quickly you just have to ask and they are happy and quick to accommodate. This is an experience not a race to get everything at once.

The whole space felt so authentic and immersive. I found $18 parking a little down the street at a nearby hotel (as long as you leave before midnight), which worked out perfectly. We ordered a few things to share--the hummus was really good, and the salad with lemon was super fresh and light. The kebabs were also delicious, though I didn't eat too many since I was in a nice dress and the tables were more Moroccan-style--low with bowls rather than full tables--so it wasn't the easiest to cut the meat. The atmosphere was lively and fun, with groups of people and even private rooms around the space. I was surprised it wasn't more crowded, but my friend stayed later and said it picked up as the night went on--they even had karaoke at one point! There was also a belly dancer, which added to the vibe, though I think having a more professional performer who connects better with the music would really elevate the experience. The hookah was a nice touch too--they give you your own tip so you're not sharing, and even though I don't normally do hookah, it just felt right for the setting. Overall, the food was great, the ambience was beautiful, and the crowd was good energy. I'd highly recommend this spot for a group event, a social night out, or even a fun date--it's definitely an experience you won't forget!

The space is…read morebeautiful: the inside dining room is cozy with its fireplace and features stunning flower arrangements. The outside courtyard is airy and sunny, and they play movies on the side of a building at night. The other indoor space is an art gallery. It's all very tasteful and consistently makes for a fun experience even after many years of coming here. The food is also exceptionally good. The signature madras fried chicken is seasoned with a light curry powder in the batter which makes for a tasty and subtle shift of a very well executed buttermilk fried chicken. The radicchio salad is beautiful, and the dressing, Parmesan, and anchovy balance the bitterness of the fresh radicchio nicely. It also has these lovely little flat crisps on top that are satisfying to bite into (and that I prefer to a thicker crouton). The fresh oysters are always good, and this most recent visit I got the white prawn cocktail (which I've always wanted but never ordered). It was delightful: the prawns were perfectly poached and were of extremely high quality. I also got the Heirloom porchetta, and was pleasantly surprised at how crispy the outside skin was and how flavorful, well seasoned, and juicy the inside pork meat was. It also came with some pearled cous cous which was a wonderful starch pairing to the rich flavor of the pork. Finally, I commend Foreign Cinema on their kids menu. It would be very easy to just trot out some frozen chicken nuggets or a lesser version of the adult mains (like a burger of lower quality beef or a red sauce spaghetti). Instead, Foreign Cinema chooses to deliver excellent food here as well. The kids meal starts with a very tasty plate of crudités, featuring fresh, high qualoty fruit (kiwi, strawberry) and vegetables (endives, beets). The entrees are a smaller portion of the adult entrees (e.g., a single piece of the madras fried chicken) or very good versions of a kids only entree (e.g., the Trofie pasta with either butter or marinara sauce). There's even a dessert of home made ice cream. As a parent who often has to pay exorbitant prices for crappy kids menu items, I really appreciate this and feel it's indicative of Foreign Cinema's desire to deliver on all aspects of a dining experience.

Some of the options from the three course set menu combined would have been cheaper than the $60 restaurant week special. With that being said, we got the zucchini soup, heirloom chicory salad, acquerello risotto, butterscotch pot de creme, and guava semifreddo. Everything was super yummy! The risotto could have used some more flavor, but we added some salt and pepper ourselves. The staff were super friendly and the atmosphere in the courtyard was so cute! I definitely recommend coming here at night!

When we arrived at around 7:30 pm, there were tables available. It's a comfortable cafe-like restaurant with mural paintings on the wall. Service was friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, the food wasn't as good as the ambiance and waitstaff. ***OUR PICKS*** BEEF SHAWERMA ENTREE ~ the beef was overly salted, saffron rice was ok, hummus was really thick, like peanut butter. My guy ordered this and thought it was average. 3/5 LAMB SHISH KEBAB WRAP ~ this was my dish. I ate one half of the wrap and it only held two cubes of lamb meat. The lettuce and tomatoes made the wrap bland. The meat was seasoned, but everything was plain, so it needed more seasoning. Honestly, this was missing flavor! I'll have to add something to it when I eat the rest of this wrap at home. 2.5/5 HALF ROASTED CHICKEN AND RICE ~ Our friend ordered this dish. It needed more sumac. This tasted like plain roasted chicken. Maybe it needs more seasoning while marinating. It wasn't dry, so that's a relief. Rice was ok and it wasn't dry or soggy. 3.5 We've been spoiled and have had better food in San Francisco and the Bay Area. Nothing stood out for any of us. Prices are a bit high for what you get. Sadly, probably won't be back.

Of course a Greek emphasis, but lots of intersection with my Croatian-American culinary heart! The smelts are fishy in a good way, nice crunch, texture, tang of lemon, & sharpness of garlic spread. Very difficult to find, never mind getting it right. The octopus & stuffed calamari were the right texture, seasoning, & flowing with olive oil. Finished with some greens. What a treat! Pro-tip: get the smelts, be bold. My wife raved about her moussaka. Artisan. Nice hint of cloves, right amount of yogurt béchamel. The lamb, beef, eggplant (not watery), & potato all stood out. My sons loved their salmon & chicken. I sampled and confirmed. My bronzino was FANTASTIC. This one was big & better quality than I usually buy. I got it with bones, head, & skin. Poured on olive oil, more salt, & garlic. Yeah, gotta use the hands, chew...graciously pulling out the bones, looking as civilized as possible. Folks, this is Mediterranean: a great fish should be eaten like this. Crisp skin, get the meat from the cheeks & head. Again: emphasis on olive oil mixed with fish juices from bones & lemon! We were stuffed and shared a Baklava. Nobody does it better. Except James Bond, 007, but in a different context. 2 glasses of wine & 2 Shirley Temples for kids. The service was excellent. Attentive. We were in the back & it wasn't loud. Classy servers & classy people enjoying themselves. Oh: great portions too. $407, including 20% tip. Great value for what you get.
