This place is a no-frills spot with homemade, comfort food. The prices are affordable especially for their rice with dishes. There are many dishes to choose from! The scallion pancake with egg is just okay having been to Taiwan this doesn't really compare. The mixed rice is good though and I enjoyed the soy milk too. I look forward to returning and trying more dishes and foods!

Have been here several times and its such a local staple Very delicious no frills taiwanese cafeteria style food BUT their breakfast items are by far the best Very delicious soy milk and fresh Chinese doughnuts. They are better if you come before noon though!

3-item lunch option. Fish, bbq chicken and eggs with rice.

I was back on Sunday for lunch and it's great as ever. Best place to have fresh, delicious food without breaking the bank. This time I got an egg scallion pancake and the husband got a three-item-plate with rice. He got the spicy fish, spicy beef and kung pao chicken. We went half and half on our orders and shared. Everything was so good! I loved the spicy beef with the hot peppers. Can't wait to be back again!

The food is simply amazing! The Za-Jian mien (noodles) are very similar with what I had in childhood (Taiwan) and the noodles is soft and chewy (made by unbleached flour). The shred pork with sauerkraut cabbage comes with the broth that I can tasted the pork bone. Is a hidden gem Taiwanese foods in Plano!

Taiwan Cafe is the economic cafeteria type restaurant. They have many Taiwanese comfort food like mom kitchen cooking. There are a lot of customers who come here for affordable food. Basically you can have 3 selection with rice. The soup comes with it. We got the two meat and veggies dish. It is delicious. Overall the order is on counter and brought to the table. Self service. For the price I don't mind a lot of thing. Although the food is not gourmet but great for a meal.

I've been coming to Taiwan Cafe for 20+ years, and although they changed ownership, the food is still excellent. This place has the food portion-to-price ratio anywhere in town, serving cafe-style Taiwanese food that often leaves enough leftovers for a second meal. Taiwan Cafe is cash only, and all the prices are in dollars, with no change. That's a Godsend, as carrying around loose change is a pet peeve of mine. Once you enter, you're presented with an array of choices. I usually opt for their three-entree meal, which gives you white rice and three dishes of your choice. You can either eat in the restaurant, which allows you to take advantage of their daily soup, or takeout, which really packs all the food in. There is no service at this restaurant; you pick your dishes, pay, and then either sit and eat or take your food out. It only gets busy during lunch hours and on the weekends, but otherwise, it is quiet and enjoyable. There is plenty of seating and tables to accommodate large groups. I eat here each time I visit Plano. I like it so much that I will continue to support this small business as long as it's open.

I've been coming here for over a decade and it has been one of my favorite places ever. So much food for such a good value. So many choices. And everything is always consistently delicious. No frills. Just delicious food. I always get the pick 3 for ten bucks. Plus I always opt for a scallion pancake egg and a Thai tea and it is perfect!

CASH ONLY!! Our first time and it was so yummy and great! Very hidden gem and mom and pop shop. $10 TEN DOLLARS for three entrees and two scoops of rice! There's also free egg drop soup (self serve), There's many dishes already made that you choose from or you can order from the menu and it's very quick. What we ordered: Scallion pancake Three entree $10 Black pepper pork chop

This is of the best authentic meal you can get for $9 (which used to be $7)! It's simple, you pick 3 entrees and rice, all for 9 BUCKS! Want some boba? Get it for an extra $1.50 with the meal. Make sure to bring cash though! My favorite is spicy fish, green beans, and fried chicken! There are so many options to choose from, so there's something for everyone. The food is authentic and tastes amazing, my Taiwanese boyfriend's family loves them! The owners are friendly and handled COVID-19 so well. I always get to go, but the dine-in tray looks great & even more filling than the togo boxes. There is free soup if you dine in so that's a plus! If you visit during the weekend brunch hours (11-2 PM), then you can order some hot sweet soy milk and you tiao along with other classic Taiwanese breakfast dishes. Even though the prices went up due to inflation, it's still worth it because one combo meal can last you up to 2 meals! Ps; Don't forget to try their shaved ice dessert as well! It's just your typical Taiwanese shaved ice with condensed milk and sugar syrup, but you get to pick 4 different toppings from the list-- all for $7!

    Soup, so tasty!

You know this place is legit when all the people waiting in line to order mostly speak Chinese. You also know this place is legit when the frills are kept to a minimum including the service. However, I was so impressed by how the couple running this cafe are like a Jack/Jill of all trades doing the cooking, refilling the chafing dishes, preparing drinks, running food, cleaning tables, etc... In terms of food, I must say I personally enjoy having variety when I eat and this place has an AMAZING selection! On top of what they offer buffet style, you can also purchase menu items a la carte like House Special Plates, Dumplings & Buns, Soups, Noodles, and even add a milk tea drink for $1 with your rice combo meal! I just love how this place seems to offer something for everyone! During this visit we opted for the 3 entrees with rice for $8 which also came with complimentary soup when you dined in. Y'all this egg drop like soup alone made it worth it to dine in and the $1 milk tea rounded out the meal. The tofu skin dish and the Taiwanese style nuggets are the two dishes that stood out to me. However, we also ordered a few of their a la carte items like soybean milk, green onion pancake with egg, rice roll, and chive pocket. I loved how all the a la carte dishes came out piping hot as the buffet style selections weren't as hot for me. Overall, if you are looking for some decent Taiwanese food and in the area, definitely stop by but don't forget to bring your cash because it is cash only!

The food here gives me the feeling of eating at a college cafeteria. They are super generous on the food so the portion you get is huge. If you dine in, there is also soup you can get it yourself. I think the soup changes daily because I have been here two times and already tasted two different types of soups. So many different dishes to choose from. One thing to note that this place is cash only. The place is big with lots of tables and seating areas. Very fast service as well.

I dropped by to check what they got for lunch. Just being curious since someone went to the "Neighborhood App" and posted about this restaurant. I came in to find out the food they're serving for the day. This place is like a cafeteria style cafe. You pick three entrees with two scoops of steamed rice ($7) served on a metal tray (like a prison tray). This no frill Taiwanese cafe has a lot of entrees you can choose from, daily. Some of it tasted bland, oily and some taste better. The have free soup for dine-in customers. "Cash Only", no cards accepted. I just wish that they serve their food on plates not on the metal tray for dine-in customers. The place is decent and their servers don't smile. But my vibe is that they have good hearts.

I understand prices for food in general have been going up, but this place is bordering being overpriced. You now order through a Chowbus kiosk, which funnily includes a very strong emphasis on how spicy their seasoning is. They were not kidding with that one, their spicy is REALLY spicy!! I wish they had a better system of notifying you that your order is done though. We were waiting for an almost embarrassingly long time before going up to check if our order was forgotten, just for it to be sitting on the counter unattended. We were some of the only people in the entire food court and sat nearby the restaurant, so we definitely would've heard them if they called our order number out. The Singapore noodles had this wonderful curry flavor that I absolutely loved, and the combo fried rice was just as satisfying. We also ordered the Peking duck (P1 on the menu). It was good, though not quite as flavorful on its own as we'd hoped. That said, once you load it up with the hoisin, cucumber, and spring onions, it all comes together beautifully. The bao buns that came with it were soft and delicious, honestly a highlight. We also sipped on hot jasmine tea throughout, which was the perfect, refreshing complement to the whole meal.
