With the current state of affairs, I have had to think twice when something breaks. Do I pay top dollar or go check out my favorite thrift store where I have donated a lot of nice and some valuable items through the years has what I want? To my surprise, each time something broke (like a dish, a lamp and other things), I went to Tailwaggers in Henderson Center and found exactly what I needed at a very low price. These days, I am trying to buy most items 2nd hand before paying outrageous prices in stores with all the heartless DT tariffs being passed onto us. Tailwaggers has a very nice man working there. Everyone was super nice and helpful whenever I have gone there to buy something. Many years ago, when my cat became missing (got out of the house right after a move), Sequoia Humane Society helped me find my kitty who managed to get out and then lost when a loud mower came unannounced. Then, it began pouring rain for three weeks straight. The nice man who found my then less than a year-old kitty crying under his back shed, lived only two blocks away. My kitty was shy. She would not come to anyone but me. The nice man had been feeding her sardines from a can and he called Sequoia Humane Society where I had also posted a flier with my phone number. I went to that man's house and he took me to his back yard shed, where baby cat was hiding. When she heard my voice, she came to me. We were so happy to be reunited. Baby cat wanted to be held in my arms for weeks after that. She had been missing for nearly a month. I split the donation I had posted on fliers between the Sequoia Humane Society and that nice man who took the time and effort to reunite us. This is the primary reason why I love Sequoia Humane Society and Tailwaggers so much that I donate all gently used and even new items, as I don't want to deal with Craig's list, etc. These days with money tight, I am shopping there frequently too. read more

A great little thrift shop that solely supports the Sequoia humane society in northern Humboldt county. California. This Thrift store currently located inside the Finnegan Nason Building, boasts a great mural on its side as you approach the doorway. The service counter is immediately to your right as you walk in the door, this location feels much larger than the previous one. Shelving loaded with household items, collectibles, books, glassware, pots and pans, etc. to the left. Clothing racks and bars to the right and back. Be sure to check out the back of the store, bargains to be had - I found a pair of vintage ceramic C.Rainha pieces on the shelf for 3$ for the pair - easily 20$-30$ each in a resale shop. There is a large selection of both women's, children's and men's clothing from cheap to moderate prices. Discounts daily and vary. The day of our visit, they were having a 1$ Orange dot sale - I found several nice items that were previously marked from 5$-9$ and all of those orange dot items were sold to me for a buck a piece! They were also running a 50% off sale on a lot of stuff. This cool little thrift store is a good one and it supports a very worthy cause and organization in the county here, the shelter is a no kill shelter and they hold true to their promise - they place all of their animals. Me, in a thrift store? E impossible, some would jest. Only if it was a used firearms shop, but this is one my wife enjoys on our vacation. Not only is it close to our vacay lodging, but it benefits pets looking forward to a furever home. Small, but well organized and staffed by kindly volunteers who love animals. I explored while the wife shopped, but I didn't find the gently used Ammo or machine gun section. I'll look harder next time. As we draw closer to our return to home, we will donate our excess possessions picked up during our stay here to this worthwhile thrift store. read more

They have a little bit of everything. You have to check it often as "the good stuff" sells quickly. Proceeds support the Sequoia humane society. I love helping animals and this is one more way to do so by donating and buying from this shop. read more

I'm not a big thrift shop person but with age I've been checking em out more. This place gives some profit to the animal shelter which is awesome! I'm a animal lover and former vet tech so of course I went there. It's a nice clean place, I went in hoping to find a dresser but no luck, I did find a book and a sheet thou. read more

Very well organized but didn't have a huge selection when we stopped in. Also, no children's clothes or toys. There were lots of books, stationary, and some adult clothes. I think adult clientele are the main focus here. The salesperson was very nice and helpfully suggested we try the Cancer Society shop down the street for children's clothes. read more

Was very pleased with the condition and displays within the store. Asst. Manger is a gem. The other staff helpful and friendly. Store is clean, well organized and easy to move around in. Prices are very reasonable and well labeled. Same or similar items are placed together on organized shelves. It was easy to find a particular item and enjoyable to merely browse. read more

I love this place! A true gem for the thrift shopper. It's small, but I always end up walking out with a huge basket of stuff. The employees are all super, super nice! And there's a cat who lives there, and you can pet him. If you're like me, you can gaze wistfully at the pet adoption board and lament that your landlord won't allow you to take home 15 dogs and 20 cats. It's a relaxed, fun shopping experience and everything goes to a good cause. read more

This place is great for unexpected quality items! I found matching brass pivoting reading lamps for the wall for a song! Marvelous condition, might have been new, great shades on the lamps. And end-tables, etc... it's my favorite thrift shop. You should try it, plus it's benefiting animals. What's not to love? read more
