Sports Vet Animal Medical Center

Sports Vet Animal Medical Center

I adopted a very scared shelter cat, Peach, 2 weeks ago. Late last week, he stopped using box and…read moreeating. My vet had given me guidelines for taking him to an emergency vet over the weekend. Kayla was so kind and helpful over the phone, it reassured me. Thankfully, over Sunday night Peach ate and used box. Even though I didn't need to take him in to the clinic, they were so kind and compassionate, I know where I will take my cats if I have an emergency.

Will not recommend to anyone. I took my dog in due to him not eating or drinking for days. His…read morestomach is extended and he gained 5 pounds, which if he is not eating he would not gain weight. He also has been stabile in his weight for many years as he is an older dog. I only took him here because my vet could not get him in for a few days and I did not want to pay thousands at U of I Vet Med. Spent $700 to be told he is dehydrated but nothing is wrong with him. As a dog owner for my entire life (my parents had multiple dogs when I was a kid and multiple had medical concerns) I know my dog and how he acts. To be dismissed about my concerns and told there is nothing wrong with him is concerning. I am now taking him to my vet due to the same issue as well as a massive bump on his ear that is causing his ear to droop and him being in pain. My dog pants when he is stressed and in pain and I tried to tell them this as well but this was also dismissed. Not only did I spend $700 to be told nothing was wrong, now I have to pay even more money to get the original problem looked at and fixed. If a thorough exam had been completed and my concerns were heard, my dog would have already had the treatment he needed, instead of being in pain and I wouldn't be out so much money for the same concern. I was also told by the tech I would receive a call the following week to check up and see how my dog is doing but have not received a call and now 3 weeks later have not heard anything from them. I took him to my vet, Country View, who just looking at my dog told me he had an ear hematoma. He had a severe ear infection that led to his ear drum being shut off. My vet answered all my questions, including telling me that him not eating and drinking was because he was in pain and had an infection. My dog will now have an ear droop the rest of his life because the infection was not caught. This is negligence on the doctors part at Sports Vet. There was no exam done because if there was he would have caught the ear infection which could have been treated for way less than $700 and my dog wouldn't have developed an ear hematoma. Sports Vet does not want to do anything to make this better and just say I'm sorry. What do you want me to do? Do better! Stop charging people outrageous amounts of money to find something so simple as an ear infection. Do your job!

Before moving to IL, I never knew a Deb. Since my move I've met 5 women named Deb. Remember the…read morename Deb. Deb is the owner and she is such a peach! I called Saturday night to schedule my cat for a groom and nail trimming and she was able to see me the following day at 10am :) I called her at 7pm so I wasn't expecting availability but I was pleasantly surprised. Depending on the cat and fur length you're looking at $ 40-80/cut and $10.00 for a nail trim. They also don't sedate any pets here which concerned me because my cat has trust issues and scratches you just for breathing. However, Deb assured me that her staff is well trained and could handle my cat. Low and behold, 2 hours and half my soul later my car is purrfectttttt. I am a returning customer and would recommend this place to everyone! They do recommend seeing your vet beforehand to obtain some calming agents for your pet if they are scratchers/biters. Since they're not licensed as a veterinary clinic, they do not distribute medication but if you have the medication from your vet you're more than happy proceed as needed and let them know :)

Headline: Who treats their customers this way?…read more Grooming: 3-stars. Customer service: 0-stars. There are better-priced, kinder, and more professionally-run groomers throughout the C/U area. Money is better spent elsewhere. I haven't been treated this poorly by a business in a very long time. The groom took 90 minutes longer than expected, and I was not updated about a delay. The owner's response to my frustration about the timing was defensive, blaming of me and my pet, and took no responsibility for her company's delay in service. Who treats their customers this way? Finally, the groom was not done to completion as the fur around the face and neck was not groomed at all.

Cat Snap - Little boy's eyes had ruptured from infection. Catsnap made sure he had surgery, was recovered, socialized, and placed in a loving home.

This is a small rescue, with a tiny budget, that does big things! Catsnap is entirely staffed by…read morevolunteers. They TNR(trap, neuter, return) in local and surrounding communities. They pull cats from overcrowded shelters and animal control facilities and find them homes. They facilitate locating low cost spay neuter programs. They accept the cats no one else will! Most people would be shocked how few rescues accept, much less welcome, black cats and kittens. Catsnap takes the old, the blind, the ones with missing limbs, the ones needing socialization or medical care, the black ones and the ones who are FIV+. Catsnap helped over 1200 cats in 2018. And THAT is what rescue is all about!

Catsnap staff member Mercy is a heartless, evil person. I…read morereached out to the catsnap email (my guess is they don't have a phone # due to all the calls they would rcv on poor behavior) giving them a description of our missing kitten. 5 months old who also was a bit delayed from birth. Hand raised and loved and taken care of but he insisted on being outside and there was no preventing it. Mercy emailed back telling me how cruel I am as a person to have a cat outside and also giving me statistics on cats killing animals, at high risk for being hit and being a nusence to neighbors. When she found out our kitty died she had another email insistent how it was my fault and I was cruel and caused the death and again telling me winter is coming. I let her know that we have a heated garage our cats stay in, food, water, beds and outside coverage with heat lamps for them. None of that mattered. I asked for my emails to be sent on to higher ups and she essentially told me they don't care, and the president feels the same way she does "It is sad the kittens could not have a loving home inside safe from wild animals and traffic or other dangerous situations. Winter is coming."
