I called Saturday night to schedule my cat for a groom and nail trimming and she was able to see me the following day at 10am :) I called her at 7pm so I wasn't expecting availability but I was pleasantly surprised. Depending on the cat and fur length you're looking at $ 40-80/cut and $10.00 for a nail trim. They also don't sedate any pets here which concerned me because my cat has trust issues and scratches you just for breathing. However, Deb assured me that her staff is well trained and could handle my cat. Low and behold, 2 hours and half my soul later my car is purrfectttttt. I am a returning customer and would recommend this place to everyone! They do recommend seeing your vet beforehand to obtain some calming agents for your pet if they are scratchers/biters. Since they're not licensed as a veterinary clinic, they do not distribute medication but if you have the medication from your vet you're more than happy proceed as needed and let them know :)

Money is better spent elsewhere. I haven't been treated this poorly by a business in a very long time. The groom took 90 minutes longer than expected, and I was not updated about a delay. The owner's response to my frustration about the timing was defensive, blaming of me and my pet, and took no responsibility for her company's delay in service. Who treats their customers this way? Finally, the groom was not done to completion as the fur around the face and neck was not groomed at all.

We have had an overall great experience with the dog den. We've been taking our dog there for about…read morea year and a half now. He's a large (~80 lbs) coonhound who is fine around other dogs, but has some anxiety challenges with people. He's also real loud and tends to make lots of noise when he's left alone. He's boarded there a bunch of times, once for over a week. We always include the day care option for him, which is an extra cost but worth it for him to have the outdoor time (they have a fenced area that I believe they use specifically for day care) and socialization with other dogs. This is the only place we've boarded him, but we tried some other day care options in town and have been happiest with the Dog Den. The staff there knows what they're doing with our dog, and it's helped us to feel confident leaving him there. He started off feeling very nervous during drop-off, but now is excited to go and knows exactly what to do. I've seen some negative reviews about experience with staff there. The guy in charge is direct, which sometimes comes off as gruff. I get the impression he likes dogs more than people, and frankly I'm totally fine with that because he knows his stuff around dogs. I've seen him directly correct some staff behavior that made my dog uncomfortable (see anxiety mentioned above), simply by quickly observing his body language and understanding his specific needs. Other places have failed in this where the Dog Den succeeded. That's not to say the other staff there performs poorly, I've always been extremely happy with everyone there (he LOVES Carly- she's amazing and I hereby advocate for her raise). Just that my dog, like many dogs, has some specific needs. We'll continue to recommend the dog den for both day care and boarding, even though it's sort of out of the way for us. In my experience, their staff has shown to be very competent and professional with the animals in their care.

Ever since my husband I moved to Champaign we have been going to AHATC and have had nothing but fantastic experiences. Is it more expensive than some other vets in town? Yes. Is it worth it? Yes. Yes. Yes! Dr Stoerger takes care of all of our animals (a Greyhound, cat with kidney disease and until recently, our beloved rabbit.) Dr. Stoerger is one of the most compassionate vet's I've ever had. She is a younger vet, however, she is so intelligent and hungry to learn that you just know your animal is getting the best care available. They also have a VERY experienced vet in Dr. Davis, who Dr. Stoerger will often consult with. Recently, our rabbit passed away and the staff at AHATC were so compassionate and kind that I was taken aback. I recommend AHATC to all of my friends and co-workers. I honestly think they are the best clinic in town. Oh! We also recently had our cat groomed there, and that went well, too!

My dog has hair and needed a hair cut. The groomer did not follow any of my instructions. They also upcharged me $20 to use my own shampoo. They returned my dog with cuts and abrasions, most notably on his testicle and penis. My dog was shaking and spent most of the next 24 whimpering overtime some one tried to touch. Stay away. Go anywhere but here.

We moved to CA a few years ago and miss Jan a lot! As a note - she is honest with you and you need to be ready for that. She told us, nicely and very professionally, that we needed to brush our boys more or she would not be comfortable grooming them. This was because each time they came in matted she saw the pain on the faces as she brushed them and could not let them through that. She knew we cared about the boys as well so this was something we took the time to work on and fix. Although we don't live there anymore we would recommend Bark Ave to anyone with dogs!

She lets the dogs roam free in a small gated area where she works and has a HUGE backyard for them to play. She always makes sure they have fresh water and lots of love; if they have to go out, she listens to them and lets them out. She has a full-service salon (hair, ears, toenails, anal glands, etc.) She knows every inch of their body and takes excellent care of her "babies!"
