Worst pet grooming place , groomer dropped the dog off the table in front of my eyes , wasn't even using grooming restraints while grooming . The groomer didn't even care just picked him up while laughing . Dog started suffering seizures and severe pain episodes , can't walk more than few steps since the incident . Doctor said it's due to the fall bruising and trauma. And needs further testing asked for her pet insurance she said she has none and won't pay for anything unless she see hard copy report and full dog health history .They refused to refund my grooming money or pay for doctor visit . The owner is unethical she only cares about money doesn't care about your pet be very careful leaving your pets there. Really weird experience. They were really nice and my dog looks great but when my dog was done they called and told me I needed to pick him up right away or they were going to hold him overnight and charge me for it. I would understand if I was late in the day but it was 1pm. They also tried to charge me extra for a "day care fee" because it took me 15 minutes to go and get him. Before moving to IL, I never knew a Deb. Since my move I've met 5 women named Deb. Remember the name Deb. Deb is the owner and she is such a peach! I called Saturday night to schedule my cat for a groom and nail trimming and she was able to see me the following day at 10am :) I called her at 7pm so I wasn't expecting availability but I was pleasantly surprised. Depending on the cat and fur length you're looking at $ 40-80/cut and $10.00 for a nail trim. They also don't sedate any pets here which concerned me because my cat has trust issues and scratches you just for breathing. However, Deb assured me that her staff is well trained and could handle my cat. Low and behold, 2 hours and half my soul later my car is purrfectttttt. I am a returning customer and would recommend this place to everyone! They do recommend seeing your vet beforehand to obtain some calming agents for your pet if they are scratchers/biters. Since they're not licensed as a veterinary clinic, they do not distribute medication but if you have the medication from your vet you're more than happy proceed as needed and let them know :) read more

I used to go to Pet Smart in Champaign but it was such a hassle to bring my maltipoms there, so I found Angel Paws which is much closer to where I live in Southwest Champaign. It is so much less stressful to bring my dogs here! It's a tiny shop but Debbie and her staff have always been very nice and do a great job on my dogs who require regular grooming. I would give the groomer 2 stars, arrived at our appt, being told she doesn't have us down, this was at 9:30am, looking at the dog they were cutting and they were talking horribly about him, and then a puppy poop on the floor, they stood around and laugh about, while my dog was running lose , i told her I wanted a teddy bear cut and was rudely told there is no such thing, and I processed to show her pictures and was told I was wrong again, we showed up around 1:15pm to check on our puppy only to find out that she has been washed, dried and still not cut, or teeth brushed, finally at 3:30 we got a call that she was ready for pick up... 6.5 hrs later and 70.00 all we get is can she have a treat, we're busy today, no I'm sorry, or offering a discount, nothing.. our cockapoo looks funny, can hardly see her eyes. the only reason why we went there is because our normal groomer was ill, and we used Angel Paws in the past and was happy, not sure what happen this go around read more

I want to start with saying I do not leave reviews normally, even when I have had a bad experience, but I don't want anyone else's cat to be scared like my baby was. I called the day before to ask about getting my cat groomed. I asked for a nail trim and sanitary cut. I also asked if they are able to hold the cat for a couple hours, they said yes. They scheduled me for the next day at 10:30. When I go there they were very unorganized, they told me if I don't pick her up right when they are done they will charge me (which they didn't mention the night before when I asked). When I came back to pick her up, she was scared because they left her right next to a bunch of loud barking dogs. It cannot just be me that would assume there would a designated area that's more calm for the cats that are being brought to them. The hair trim wasn't even done well as they barely did anything at all, almost no difference. When I picked her up I should also add they completely didn't recognize me and tried handing me a dog? The price was also 65$ for the services which is my far the highest I have ever paid. I normally pay 60$ for the same service with a wash. I also know my cat tolerates a lot, she's docile and does not try to attack or bite during grooming. I will not be back and would not recommend for cat grooming. read more

Was able to get my dog Annie in for grooming within a few days of calling. (First time customer) Debbie greeted us at the door. My dog has anxiety issues, but they were able to handle her just fine. This place did a good job at fluffing and that's about it. Areas that I specifically asked to be groomed like paws, private areas, and face looks as if they were barely cut. The bottom of paws are still hairy, hair all around the balls and the penis hair was half cut and it looks weird. None of the basic grooming was done such as nail clipping or ear cleaning. Also, my dog doesn't seem like they were wash, there's no conditioner smell or any after smell; he smells like fresh from outside. Overall the quality of work that was done doesn't meet basic standards and was overpriced. If you are looking to get your dog FLUFFED (and not FULLY GROOMED), then this is the place for you! I trusted that my dog was receiving a full groom (i.e. bath, trim, and nails) since that's what we asked and paid for. I never complained when they failed to fully trim my dog's coat, but learned after SEVERAL visits that they weren't able to trim his nails because he wasn't a fan of the grinding. At that point, I was extremely furious with not only the lack of SERVICE, but now the lack TRANSPARENCY. As a customer and fellow pet owner, I should have been informed about this matter IMMEDIATELY and not after several visits later. We attempted to address our concerns before leaving, but rather than approaching it kindly, the owner gave us appalling attitude. Naturally, anyone would be upset after an encounter like that. Given that we didn't receive the full service that was agreed upon nor offered any sort of reassurance/compensation, I proceeded to dispute the charge. I tried Petsmart, but they nicked my poor baby all over and kept him crated for so long even after paying extra for the express service. We decided to give Angel Paws another go since there's literally no other place in Champaign. She demanded a pre-pay THE DAY BEFORE made in cash after the previous incident (which she completely failed to approach with the smallest bit of kindness). Had there been some sort of apology and reassurance that our dog would receive a full groom the next visit, we would not have felt the need to dispute the charge. Long story short: DON'T waste your time or $$$. Invest your money in a grooming class and trim your babies yourself. read more

The owner (Debbie), really helped me out in a bind. I called the same day that I would be needing a place for my dog to board over night. We were booked at the holiday inn which didn't allow pets and just assumed that everywhere had a Petsmart, Pet Hotel- but not Champaign! Debbie was super friendly and took our dog in at the last minutes notice. She had other little dogs there for our dog to interact with so it was like a little vacation for her. The fact that they can't handle dogs that bark is very unprofessional. They need to be more understanding that dogs bark because it seems like they can't wrap that around their brain. I overheard one of the workers there saying, "I'm getting irritated"; right cuz a dog is barking? Tragic. Maybe tell those barking dogs to stop barking, you might hear meows. Picked him up earlier than what was agreed on. This business has some explaining to do as to why my dog is acting very different now and is very scared. Called the Thursday before Memorial Day weekend and inquired about services and prices. My dog needed a serious grooming and haircut and nails clipped; they assured me that was included in the service. I told her my dog breed (part bichon, part terrier) and she said it would be $35-45 which I thought was reasonable. The owner mentioned limited hours for the next couple days but when I called the next day in the early afternoon, they were able to squeeze me in. Facility was clean, groomers and owner were helpful, and I returned 2 hrs later to a perfectly groomed and clean dog. The only slight negative was that the price was $55 instead. However, bc they did a great job and were able to get me in last minute, I'm leaving 5 stars. Would return again. read more

I do not know where to begin. DO NOT BRING LARGE BREEDS HERE. This was extremely unprofessional. I should have known how unprofessional this "business" was when Debbie solicited Angel Paws in another groomer/pet store. I read good reviews, so I decided to give them a try. I dropped my 20 pound white spitz and 100 pound golden pyrenees off for a bath, brush and nail trim. I was called and told that ONE of my dogs had flees and they would have to charge me more for flee shampoo(which i agreed to). Clearly if one of my dogs had flees, they both do. They bathed one of my dogs in the shampoo and charged me double the quoted price. She then texted me to pick up my dogs because they were barking and being difficult. When I got there, I rang the door bell and I could hear her swearing and yelling because she was having difficulties with another dog. I yelled "do you need help?" and she continued to be disgruntled. Once she realized I was there she let me in. She had my dog, another large dog, 5 pound dog and cat lose in her work area. I find this very unprofessional, you don't know these animals behaviors or tempers. She then told me how my dog bit her assistant and was difficult. She told me my dog "broke skin". They couldn't seem to show where my dog injured her. She then said "Your aren't going to leave a bad review are you?" I've already given you a discount." She knew this was handled poorly and she had done a horrible job. My golden pyrenees was still wet and more matted than when I dropped him off. Their nails were not trimmed. Both groomers even argued with me saying that my dog was barking at the blow dryer and being difficult, so thats as good as he'll be. In the end I took home a wet dog. His fur looks even worse a day later. This place should not accept large breeds. They should also learn how to politely talk to their paying customers and keep organized. They didn't know which harnesses and leashes were mine. I went home with a collar and leash that wasn't mine. I now have to spend more money to get my large dogs botch job fixed. read more

I have used angel paws 4 times in the last three months for my cat, Napoleon. I love it. He loves it too. I wanted to find a place that would have my cat stuck in a cage all day but out playing. I brought Napoleon to her house and he gets to socialize with get cats and dogs. My cat is very friendly and I want him used to small dogs ( she had a lot of small dogs) because I want to get a dog eventually and know that the cat won't be terrified. He always come back happy and well taken care of. The only negative is that he comes back smelling like cigarettes. But that's ok. He can have a bath. read more

I have two Maltese, whom just had three puppies. Due to work I have to travel frequently so I needed someone to help me with my pets. Debra the owner is one of the most caring and kindest individuals I have met in regards to my dogs. Plus she has the experience and education to really know what the best is for my dogs as well. She offers the best grooming I have found in Champaign, which has been hard to find. My dogs were still coming back with knots, not shaved or brushed properly. When Diamond and Sugar Baby come back from Angel Paws they look like they were groomed by the best. Her prices are comparable to other groomers so I feel I am getting a bargain. I was worried when I traveled that I would not find anyone able to handle the puppies, but I was so lucky. She knew more about puppies than I did, since she was a vet tech prior to her stating her own business. But isn't it what service is about? The fact that you are blaming your customer for being late says everything about your business. I would surely stay away from a business who's so strict on customers. And don't lie by telling me you were being nice. You were not! You were visibly pissed off and annoyed. That made me feel bad and I really wanted to make things right; so I brought change. Then you were even more agitated and started bumbling those nasty words, complaining about the change and said I was a cheater. I sent you more money after I got back home although you told me not to bother. And you never sent me any notification for receiving such a payment to reflect I now have a zero balance. My friend took his large dog here to get groomed this summer (in June 2018). To say that he was BUTCHERED would be an understatement!! The dog normally looks like a golden retriever. She completely shaved him, well below his undercoat, and in some places, left "patches" where she shaved him even shorter. He looked bizarre. For the first few months, people were aghast when they saw Remy. It took forever for his coat to grow back. I don't know what this lady was thinking! It was, by far, the worst job I have ever seen from a groomer. If there were a way to attach photos, I would, but alas, there is not. The good news is that she got plenty of advertising at the Champaign dog park. People know where NOT TO GO, ESPECIALLY IF YOU HAVE A LARGE DOG. p.s.
