When someone finally came to help, he barely made an effort and just pointed at things instead of actually showing us how they worked. What really bothered me was watching the staff go out of their way to help white customers while we were standing there waiting. Even after someone finally started helping us, they were already checking on other white couples. I don't like jumping to conclusions, but when you're the only brown/muslim people in the store and you're consistently treated differently from everyone else, it's hard not to notice. We came in as paying customers and expected the same basic respect as everyone else. Definitely won't be coming back.

They pointed out a couple areas where they have "girl" baby clothes (I mean, clothing doesn't have a gender but we exist in the world where people like to do that). Most of their clothes are for children older than mine but they did have a few things. It's definitely expensive, though, so I don't know that I'd buy a lot here. I did buy some very cute barrettes for my baby (I've found it hard to find some that don't have pieces attached to them, and I don't want pieces that might pull off) and I'll probably purchase more at some point. When I first stopped in the other employee here greeted me and asked what brought me in and if I needed help finding anything. It's not a large place but there is a LOT to look at. They have clothing, accessories, adult jewelry (possibly kids jewelry too, but I wasn't looking at it much), hair notions, and so on. One thing I really needed is a pacifier clip since my daughter has taken to pulling hers out and it ends up in a place in her carseat that is hard for me to reach! They happened to have these which made it a successful shopping trip right there. But whilst we were wandering, Vanessa complimented my sweetie pie and we got to talking. I was in the store for 35 minutes or so and probably half of that was chatting with her. I got a couple of the pacifier clips, and a freaking ADORABLE winter hat that I'm pretty sure is handmade and will probably fly off the shelf. I also bought a book featuring Chicago landmarks which I learned as I checked out Vanessa actually wrote. She autographed it for my baby which I love! Parking is street only and probably can get tough some days, but it's worth the visit. The store is full of really high quality items. Before you even enter the shop you see that they sell Cubs-themed items. There's a wall of mostly Cubs and a table exclusively of Cubs. On the table was a sign that announced a Labor Day Sale, everything 15% until Monday. Remember, this is ON THE CUBS table. When I asked why I didn't get my 15% off, I was told that Cubs items aren't included. Yes, on second look I saw there it was in tiny type, but that's not the point. The sale sign was literally placed among the Cubs items and so it was obviously misleading. When I pointed this out to the sales associate, her affect was, well, bored/annoyed. So I'm withdrawing a star because I wonder about the store's integrity and business practices.

We went back to Frankie's On the Park to look for a service dress for my daughter's upcoming bat…read moremitzvah. This time I made an appt with the infamous Suzie who was kind enough to meet us on a Sunday morning before the store was even open. Suzie has quite the reputation (a good one!) among the bat mitzvah girls and I can see why. She had an eye for what would look good on my daughter and nailed it within 5 minutes. Done! We then made our way downstairs to do some shopping while we had the store to our own. She found a dress to wear to other mitzvahs that she liked so much we got it in a few colors and did some fall shopping as well (aka sweatpants and cute long sleeve tees). We spent more than I was planning to, but the smile on her face was priceless. My daughter wears a junior size and I do find the dress selection a bit limited for juniors (she had 2 racks to choose from), but they certainly have more than anywhere else I've seen and easier to try on person than ordering a bunch online. I think she's good on dresses for the rest of 2023, but when we are ready for more I"ll definitely be calling Suzie to make sure she'll be there to help!

I got looked up and down by the lady with short white hair working. A woman shopping picked up something from the kid section and she snapped at her that they were kid's jeans. After not greeting me, she proceeded to greet the next two people walking in. I will never understand treating customers differently on appearance or talking down on you for looking at items in the store, or being unable to wrap their mind around the concept that customers could be shopping for another person. I will spend my money at a less judgmental, ignorant establishment.
