My wedding dress
Brigitta K.

Christine is a fabulous tailor. I brought my wedding dress to her and she made it look absolutely beautiful. I needed some adjustments to the bust area and needed to come back twice, and she fit me in her schedule each time. I asked for a French bustle, too. I got many compliments on my wedding dress.

Christine is absolutely wonderful and amazing to work with. I received my dress late and desperately needed it tailored as I lost weight and it was too boxy. Took it to her with just under 2 weeks until my wedding and she delivered with days to spare. The minute I walked in and tried the dress on she knew immediately what I was looking for and what to do. I got the dress back and it was perfect. She took it in & adjusted the bustle & you wouldn't have ever known (and it was a lace dress). Highly recommend!!! Before and after for reference.

Bridal gown

Christine at TailorBox is the best! She is so sweet and talented and made my dress fit like a glove in just under a month! My dress had a lot of detail and I am very picky so it was not an easy task by any means, however she BEYOND exceeded my expectations and has gained a customer for life!

I chose to bring my Tom Ford Vintage gown to have alterations and my dress was damaged by this seamstress. I needed a simple hem. I needed sleeves to be let out as much as fabric allowed and I needed the shoulders to be leveled since I removed the shoulder pads. she had three weeks to work on dress. when I picked up dress it was not pressed so it was difficult to see the issues when I tried on dress on. when I got home and steamed it became quite clear that the hem was very crooked, the sleeve was not only let out but she added fabric under arms to give extra space instead of just letting out sleeve as much as it allowed. She never phoned or text me that she was going to do something different than what was discussed. And the dress had to oil line stains on sleeve to mark where sleeve was tight. She very matter of factly said it was the white chalk pen that stained it but offered no apologies for the two stains on sleeve. When I mentioned the crooked hem she attempted to gaslight me by saying it was straight. I went over every issue I had with her work I asked if she was pinning dress first to make sure its even before sewing. She said she did not understand and needed me to show her. I started to pin dress but after pinning the 4th pin I stopped and told her I'm not suppose to show her how to do a simple hem. that is something she SHOULD know. When I told her it's her job not mine to know how to do hem she said she COULD not fix. Please view photos I am posting. the dress is silk along with a silk lining. She also said it's very difficult to see silk. She returned my $70 for hem and gave me an additional $30 for the two oil line stains caused by her chalk pen. Now I have to search for someone to repair

Christine saved the day! I went to her for pretty simple dress alterations (just needed a hem and some new padding) but my lace topper which was separate was almost a complete loss due to my arms changing after I purchased it. After being in an accident and recovery, I lost definition in my arms (of all places) and the sleeves were too tight. Christine made no promises but offered to do her very best to fix it. Well, she more than came through!! After hours of work, the topper looked better than originally had and I was able to have my dream look!! She was so nice, responsive, flexible and worth every penny. Also as a plus-size bride, I never felt uncomfortable or judged. Thank you for everything!

Christine is with out a doubt the best seamstress in New York!!! I had such a journey with my TWO wedding gowns, when postponing my wedding twice due to covid my weight fluctuated quite a bit and Christine was so caring and phenomenal at transforming my dresses to fit me perfectly. Not only can she fit a dress to you and hem, but Christine is a true artist. She transformed my second dress into a floor length gown and moved appliqués, my other dress she fully built the cups in the bodice and sewed different straps on for me. I don't know what I'd do with out her she helped make my wedding so special. Thank you for everything Christine!!!

I've been a client for nearly a decade, and it's been amazing to see their growth. Over the years I've visited a number of their NYC studios such as Union Square, Grand Central, SoHo, West Village, Tribeca, and every single time I've been blown away by their service. You get what you pay for! They always go above and beyond to make sure everything fits perfectly, and somehow manage to make the whole experience enjoyable and stress-free. At the new Greenwich studio, I worked with Humberto, the lead fitter, and he was fantastic--friendly, professional, and put me completely at ease. The studio itself is gorgeous: stylish, chic, and perhaps one of the nicest Alts locations I've been to. Plus, there's plenty of parking right on Putnam Avenue, which makes it super convenient. I recently brought in more than 10 garments (dresses, sweaters, skirts and jeans). Mix of complex and simple alterations. It's incredible that they are able to handle everything with ease. I also needed some outfits rushed for an event and the team was able to accommodate my short window. Within just 3 days I got an email that everything was ready for pickup--and the tailoring was flawless! Thank you to Jess, the store manager, and the front desk receptionist--they were both so welcoming and professional. Couldn't be happier and highly recommend Alts for any alteration needs, no matter how complex or simple.

She had done some excellent alterations for me about 18 months ago so I came back with a dress I had bought online that needed four things done: the collar altered into a scoop neck from a higher, folded-over collar, the length shortened, the sleeves shortened, and a tuck put in under the sleeves at the bust. I needed it for an event on 4/30 and I brought it in between five and six weeks in advance. She said it would be done on 4/4. I called after 4/4 and she said she had tried to reach me (she hadn't) to ask if I wanted a V neck or a rounded scoop neck. She does not seem to take notes on what has to be done. I reminded her that I wanted a rounded scoop neck and she said she would do it the next week. I waited over a week and called her again and she said she had not done it yet but would do it the following week and it would be ready that Thursday. The timing was getting tight and I asked her if she thought there was any chance it wouldn't be done and she said no. I went there that Thursday (less than a week before the event) and the hem was done perfectly, the scoop neck was higher than we had discussed but it was okay, she totally forgot the sleeves (which she did right away in 10 minutes), but she said she was not going to do the part under the arms because it did not work to do it. She is very elderly and I was polite but I asked why she did not tell me that on the times that we had spoken. She did not answer. I did not have time to bring it elsewhere so I could not wear it, I had to wear another dress, because it looked weird with the puffy fabric under the arms. I tried wearing it with a padded camisole and that didn't help, the extra fabric was more under the arms. I would not use her again unless there was no due date and it was just something simple like a hem.

The dry cleaning items had a quick turnaround, just a day or so, while the alterations took about a week (which is also quick). Everyone who assisted me was friendly and attentive. The dry cleaning was competitively priced, but I did feel that the alterations were a bit high. I don't have much to compare with, other than evening gowns, but I was surprised that taking in the waist on a pair of pants was more expensive than those gowns in the past. The payment system was a bit confusing as well. I'll admit, I did not notice the signs inside the establishment that indicated "cash only," so that is my fault, but the electronic invoice that I was sent made it appear as though I could pay with card online. The website also does not have clear indication about payment types accepted. In a day and age when not many people carry cash or have paper checks anymore, this could be a drawback for people utilizing this business.
