Don't think I will going back here anytime soon! It was not very good at all and it takes alot for me to be judging of a restuarant. First off the salty margarita tasted like dish water it was disqusting, we tried the wings let me tell you the wings were fried so hard it actually hurt my teeth they were chewy and just gross. I mean if your main theme is pizza and wings well atleast they need to be good well didn't try the pizza but the wings come on really?! And the waitressing staff well they weren't very friendly seemed to be more bothered than helpful, they didn't really check on you and didn't really have a smile it was just an overall bad experience, I hope that they can improve on these issues because Surprise is up and growing and we need good restuarants. read more

We visited Tailgaters today for lunch after our son's baseball game. We were with another family of four for a total of eight. We were greeted by a gentleman in slacks who we all assumed was the manager. After some discussion with the hostess, we were seated at a large corner booth. The booth was only designed to sit up to six. We then assisted the hostess in placing two tables together in order to sit us all comfortably. Our waitress was good at taking our order and refilling drinks. Our order took at least forty minutes to arrive at our table. The food was typical to less than average for a pizza joint / sports bar. The cost for the food was above average as compared to other sports bars. We came in with a $5.00 off coupon. When the bill came, it was $5.00 more instead of less. The waitress immediately blamed someone else and brought it to the manager. He disappeared with the bill. The waitress brought back the correct bill about twenty minutes later. We wasted almost two hours for lunch at Tailgaters today and will not be back. They showed no CARE for a new customer. No OWNERSHIP for the long wait or incorrect bill. No attempt to EXCEED EXPECTATIONS. The manager could have changed the experience if he was willing. read more

I started going to this bar because they have a great karaoke and many of the patrons are ex military like I am. After going there I started to recommend to others that they try the food and their hand at karaoke. I had been going there for at least 6 months or better, friendly staff, good service. I asked Rick the GM if he could get a specific whiskey and he did! This is where the story takes an ugly turn. One evening because it was so busy, I went to the bar to get a beer because our waitress was swamped. I paid for it and went back to our table and did some more singing. At the end of the night we were paying out, when suddenly the bartender holds up another tab and insists that it was from my previous trip to the bar. I figure what the hell its only a few bucks right? So there was no argument just paid and left, but still I felt like I had just been shook down. This is just the start... I don't go there for awhile because I'm actually looking for another place that has the same quality karaoke as this place has, and I find it at The Irish Wolfhound. I actually saw some of the employee's from Tailgaters at The Wolfhound. After a few weeks I go back to Tailgaters, having a great time and I meet this guy who claims that he and the bartender have a "thing" going on, I say cool, good for you and her. He asks me what I was drinking and I tell him about the whiskey that Rick had brought in for me. He says lets go in and have a shot of it and he's buying. We go in and he likes it so much he says "lets have another" because he wanted to thank me for my service to the country. I go back to my table do some more singing and ask for our tab. We pay up and suddenly guess what the bartender holds up another tab and says I owe for something at the bar, out of the corner of my eye I see the guy who said he was buying go out the door. Really? This time I'm not so amicable to paying the shake down fee. So I go up to the bar and told the bartender that she knew that this was B.S. and pretended to act indignant because I said B.S....LMAO!!! Anyway my date steps up and says "I'll just pay it" I told her she was a sap for falling for the same game twice in a row. So while shes paying I went outside cause I'm so pissed, cause really it's their word against yours. I must have gotten loud out in the parking lot cause a guy comes out and asks what the problem was I tell him and says it's all good and to just chill out so I do cause I figure it's not worth a possible trip to the cross bar hotel over like $20 bucks. So once again I don't go there for over a month. But I've made friends with many people there and enjoy singing with them and want to enjoy their companionship. I had a dentist appointment early on day they were singing, whereupon I had to have a tooth extracted. Later in the evening I asked my girl if she wanted to go and do some singing (fellas listen to them when they say no) at first she said no but I insisted and we went later than usual, we had exactly 2 beers and 2 glasses of wine and something to eat. We pay up and as we are going out the door one of the guys that works there stops us and tells us that I can't drive and he has to call a taxi, I'm like what are you talking about 2 drinks in 3 hours and ate food and I need a cab? He says "you're slurring your words" I pull out the gauze from where my tooth used to be and asked if this might have something to do with it. He insists that I wait for a taxi, I get in my car and drive off. Weeks later I see this guy at The Wolfhound and we talk about it and he says "no problem, just keep it real and no drama" I agree. About 2 months go by and I decide to stop in, I order up a beer, not only the guy from The Wolfhound but another guy show up at my table and proceed to tell me that they won't serve me but basically I'm 86'd. I ask him why and he says that I pulled a knife on the bartender and him...... Un freakin real !!!!! Now I'm not sure about anyone that reads this posting but if someone anyone pulled out a blade, I'm fairly sure the police would have been involved in a matters of minutes...Just sayin! Who knows maybe I was outside cleaning my finger nails waiting for my girl to pay the extortion fee, because I got bored and needed to do a little grooming so my testosterone level would go to effeminate. All in all it's my opinion that there is some kind of shake down scheme that is going down there, and when I bitched about it (solution) 86 um. After all there are plenty more suckers out there. It is also my opinion that the owner and the GM are unaware of what is really going on behind the scene. I wouldn't go back to this joint even if I was promised free food and drink for the rest of my days... Keep close tabs on your tab. read more

My husband an I tried it a couple times, thinking the service sucked because they were busy and new but no that doesn't seem to be the case . Service sucks! Even when you sit at the bar in FRONT of the bartenders that hate their jobs you still get overlooked...we practically had to go behind the bar and get our own drink...I don't think anyone working there understands what customer service is! Tried this place for the first time today. The food was disgusting. I started with the smallest, greasiest potato skins I've ever had. And for some reason it took at least 20 minutes to get them. Then it took another 20 minutes and asking two different waitresses three different times for a side of ranch (with only 4 or 5 tables of people in the whole place). I only got the ranch when my "meal" came out and the skins were by then cold. The burger was a dried up little piece of meat on a bun twice its size with no mustard/mayor or any condiment whatsoever. The club sandwich was so greasy I needed a napkin to pick it up. It had only one shaved piece of turkey and one shaved piece of ham on it with four pieces of bread. All you could taste was grease and bread. I may have been able to tolerate the horrible food if the service had been tolerable. The waitress (and the other ones waiting tables on the other side) where moving at the pace of a herd of turtles. Our waitress was anything but friendly. When we said this is our first time here, She said "okay" and walked away without offering recommendations. My drink sat empty for at least 30 minutes before she came around and then actually asked if I needed a refill and acted surprised that I said yes. All we wanted was the heck out, but of course getting the check took forever as well. She came to the two tables behind us several times but never even looked our way most of the time we were there. We over heard the manager apologizing to the table behind us for the bad food and wait times, but never even looked our way either. I'll be watching this place to appear of an episode of Kitchen Nightmares w/Gordon Ramsey! This place doesn't even deserve one star. read more

Place is horrible for delivery. My wife's mom from LA was staying at our house and ordered a meatball sub from there for delivery and it never showed up. She called back and they said they lost her order. We decided to try them again tonight. We placed an order for delivery. Guess what it never showed up. we had to call them back and ask about our order. While giving the order the girl on the other end kept asking over and over whats our name, our address, and what we want. She said sorry it was loud in here. Well come to find out that they placed our order under a wrong name and our address was wrong. By time we received our order it was cold. Our order was completely wrong. When we called back for a third time to talk with a manager again he seemed like he was in a rush. Go someplace else! This place was super slow, we never got refills, they move at a snails pace and they weren't even busy! I got a dried up hamburger on a crunchy bun that swallowed the meat. There was no flavor or any condiments! The fries were super greasy and tasted frozen. We also got the club sandwich which looked better, but it also lacked flavor. We had to ask for ranch 3 times for our appetizer before someone brought it to us. The first waitress looked at us like she was annoyed when we asked for some. Where to start.... We were seated and then waited a 10-12 min to even be greeted... We have a almost 2 and almost 1 year old so this was way to long to wait... then for our drinks we waited another 5-7... I should also mention that there were several servers who walked past us and no one even noticed we had no been greeted... And our server Autumn not once apologized for the wait and kind of had that "what do you want" kind of attitude... Our food was deliver by the what we think was the manager who didn't seem to care too much that we had been waiting for awhile either... To top it all off when the air came on it really came on... We were freezing which made the rest of our food cold... We had the nachos and the meatball sandwich I give the nachos a 5 and boyfriend gives the sandwich a 7... not the best visit not sure we would go back... Although I would say if we did go back we would look for the one server we did see be attentive and greeted and got drinks for her tables quickly and friendly something we did not receive during this visit... Our good friend Rosie from scotland who lives in surprise raved about this place and the manager Rick so we decided to stop there on our way home. What a fun BAR, also a place that you would expect the food to just bar food , it was terrific.. We had pizza, apps and my wife asked for a special salad that was not on the menu they happily made it. the place is very relaxing despite being a sports bar so to speak, the staff very attentive. We stayed way longer than expected and Rosie no need to ask for Rick , he came by our table shortly after we arrived and introduced himself and could not do enough for our party. As a former restauranteur i believe your staff and ambience often take on the personality of the manager/owner and you could see this throughout. GREAT JOB GUYS!!! read more

This place is awful ! Too bad, we were hoping for a good experience,but we were disappointed BIG TIME ! Like others noted 1st off , plenty of "window dressing" no greeting, bartender couldn't pull off a margarita, server was nice. I feel for her...it's tough to make $$ in a bar without a decent bartender. Pretty faces,cute outfits and nice bodies only go so far. First, I want everyone that reads this to know that I have NO personal problem with any one particular person that works at Tailgaters in Surprise. There isn't anyone that's more HONEST than me, and if ANYONE can refute any of this, please do so, but you better back it up with actions and not words. I don't consider myself a "regular", but I have frequented Tailgaters for the time they've been open, many times, and this is what I've found: 1) Their food is average AT BEST. I visited there dozens of times before I finally broke down and ordered ONE item for take-out simply because I was so hungry and didn't feel like going home and making anything. I ordered one of their "subs" that are very much like a calzone. Lazy me, I didn't open the box until I got home, and what I found was a blackened (burnt) pile of doe with whatever filling inside. I couldn't believe that the individual that "baked/cooked/heated" it just went ahead and plopped it in the box and gave it to the bartender to hand to someone, instead of coming out, apologizing for the "mistake", and offering a glass of water while I waited for another to be made. I will never order food there again. 2) The place is filthy. The bar is rarely wiped off after patrons have left. I almost always have to ask for "a wipe" before I feel comfortable sitting at the bar. I don't care how busy they are! They make enough money to have one person do nothing but clean shit when it's really busy, including the bathrooms! The owners live like kings & queens! When the bar IS wiped down, it's wiped off with an already dirty cloth, so the residue left behind isn't much more sanitary than the counter was before it was wiped. 3) The men's bathroom later in the afternoon/evening smells like a pig farm. There is no regular, hourly cleaning, so it's left for the patrons to just deal with it unless someone pukes, and then there's just enough action taken so people can walk in again. And by the way, the urinals are in perfect sight of all ages of females walking out of the women's bathroom, so when the men's bathroom door is open, everyone walking by can see people at the urinals. Have I said enough or should I go on? YOU make up your mind. Go and eat and drink and enjoy if you don't mind all this, but until it changes, it still remains one of the more lower class, average places that Surprise has to offer until the city grows up and starts to lure more high class establishments in their place. Until then, owners of bars & restaurants like Tailgaters will continue to make a mint off people who can't find better places to go, and don't really care anyway. read more

We love this place. They give one of the biggest military discounts. And we took our son here for his birthday. They gave him a huge brownie/ w whipped cream and ice cream. He loved it and we loved it. We get the house calzon and the salad with buffalo chicken. But, everything we have here is amazing. read more

Husband and I went last night for happy hour and had a great experience. From start to finish: we were greeted immediately. The place was packed so there was a little wait. While we waited, we were asked by two other staff members if we had been helped, which was awesome. I was observing how the servers spoke to the hostesses and happy to see they were kind, not rude at all. The hostesses jumped right in to help clear tables, wipe them down, grab a pizza box for one of the servers, and always carried a smile on their faces. Once seated, we were greeted by our server right away. He had a ton of personality, very friendly, attentive, and didn't hold back on the ranch. It's a pet peeve of mine when I ask for "a lot of ranch" and they bring me one container... which this server did not. He was kind and gave us just enough for our meals. Food was delivered hot. We ordered appetizers for happy hour: spinach dip, fried zucchini, potato skins, and nachos. All of which was delish, but the spinach dip and friend zucchini are hands down the best in Surprise. My husband devoured the nachos. All for a great happy hour price. This is now going to be our regular spot... and we were excited to hear that they host UFC fights with NO COVER. Next fight in March we are going to Tailgaters. read more

Been going to this place for over a year...the service this last month or so has gone down hill. Bartender stuck fingers in one of our drinks and when told about it owner was rude and confrontational...it's sad because the food generally is pretty good but the worst management I have ever experienced, made us feel like we did something wrong. After asking to replace the drink he came outside and stared us down. Unfortunately we will not be back! Went today with my son in-law and granddaughter, arrived at 12:00, self seating no one in there, food took 30 minutes for a kids hotdog, meatball sub and patty melt, had the melt on wheat not rye and the bread was so dry it just fell apart, fries were not good, cold and hamburger on melt was charcoaled black, don't know where the guy below received "steak fries" not what we got. Asked for check, bill was 27 dollars and some change gave her 2 $20's and she brought back $12.00 NO CHANGE, how dare you!! And then never brought back a receipt. Perfect neighborhood bar where personality rivals good pours and fast service. Rick the manager is always present and whatever the game, he not only makes sure it's on but that volume accompanies the event. Who wants to hear music when the playoffs are on?! I'm not a huge fan of the food but I don't usually go to a bar to fill my belly! I'll save my two biggest favorites for last...1) The two outdoor areas! They make a smaller bar seem huge. The patio has plenty of seats and misters and the "indoor deck" is a great place to watch sports while still having access to the bar. 2)the staff is AWE-SOME...nothing like a bartender remembering your name which seems to always happen with 'keeps like Sasha, who is my personal fave! When we head out for Happy Hour, we almost always head for Tailgaters. We rarely get bad service. A possible glitch once or twice, but the rest of the time the service was great and the people always had a smile. The food we order is always tasty and hot. Great atmosphere. Tailgaters in Surprise is unlike the one in Glendale. It is much more restaurant oriented as opposed to a bar. The fact that it is a Tailgater's/ill Primo split, they offer much more than just burgers and wings. You can also get pizza, wraps and pasta. They have a great draft beer selection with at least 5 of those taps being local. There is plenty seating inside and also an indoor patio. Great place to watch sports or get dinner. read more

had such a weird experience. went on a Friday night and surprisingly it wasn't busy. after sitting there like 15 minutes the server came over "anyone want a drink?" No introduction, didn't even get a name. We were a party of 7, yes we want drinks....? Drinks came out all separately which was also weird considering it was just soft drinks and not alcohol. She left again for 15 minutes came back and took our order. After 5 minutes one person in our party got their food so we expected the rest of it was following. He didn't even have silverware so he couldn't start eating: Literally 20 minutes later we got three more of our plates. Another 10 got another plate and another 10 later, our very last plate brought was the kids plate! you should never bring all of the food out separately, especially 20+ minutes apart. Nobody goes to a restaurant t to eat at all different times.... all of our fried food was dark brown like it had dirty oil. we were there over 2 hours and spent like 15 of that eating. not super good service or food so not a great first impression. read more

Food and atmosphere is great. Lots of TVs like a sports bar should have. Our waitress was very friendly and helpful And very good about checking up on us to make sure we had everything we needed. The bar however does not know how to make an alcoholic drink. My fiancé ordered a Margarita, Long Island iced tea and a Soco and lime(not all at once) and every one of them was horrible. I was originally scared to send the margarita back just because I don't like to make people cooking my food mad. But my Fiancé sent it back and the waitresses very understanding she said they were having a problem with the sweet-and-sour. The waitress then said they got it fixed and my fiancé ordered the long island iced tea. Once again it was horrible undrinkable. I drank it just to avoid having to return another drink. She then ordered the Soco and lime. Once again one of the worst drinks we ever had. My Guinness beer was okay but how hard is that...
