Matcha Milk Tea
Courtney R.

This a cute, fast lunch or afternoon tea spot while you're shopping around Columbia. I tried the matcha bubble tea and a sushi burrito, both were really good.

Sushi burrito and sauces
Thembi S.

I was looking for something different for lunch and paused by Taichi to read the menu. Almost immediately I was taken by the sushi burrito, so I went inside for more information. The young lady behind the counter was super helpful. She showed me the "make your own sushi burrito" order sheet and gave me suggestions from best sellers. I filled out the sheet, unsure of my choices. A lot of times where I have to pick all my options, I either go too far or combine flavors that do not go together. I was hopeful for my burrito tho. I paid and was given a number, my food was ready shortly thereafter. I took it back to work for consumption. Overall, I felt the options I chose worked together really well! I had a number of dipping sauces but preferred the soy sauce/wasabi combo most. The burrito is more of a taco as the sides of the seaweed wrap don't touch - and that's important to note. Eating this "burrito" is really messy. Overall, interesting concept. A little too pricy though where all I'm getting is a burrito, no sides, no drinks, so unlikely I return.

Thai tea boba
Victoria E.

Came in because I was in the area and craving boba. This spot is neat because it was a boba, poke bowl and ramen spot. It was empty when I came in, I was surprised it wasn't busier. I ordered the Thai tea boba and was glad I could satisfy my craving, but just a tad disappointed with the drink. The boba quality was good though! Cooked perfectly and the proportion to the drink was perfect. I was disappointed that I was not able to adjust the sugar level (I usually get 50 or 70% sugar) so the drink was too sweet for my liking. In addition, I don't think there was enough milk in my drink because even after mixing it, it was still a darker color and I would've preferred a slightly more milkier taste. The tea was very strong but the entire beverage was really sweet so it was off. I would come back to try the food options and maybe give the boba a second try after I allow the ice to melt to dilute the sweetness a bit.

Peach tea

Came here for bubble tea only. The inside is really cute they have natural wood and plants for a more instagramable look. The service is pretty standard there are no "hellos" when you walk in it's just "what do you want to order" I got the peach green tea and it was good. Very comparable to the other places in the area. I think if I had a bubble tea craving this place is a convenient stop to get some tasty bubble tea

Takoyaki yummy!

Sykesville location!! Amazing food. Vegetarian options galore. Chicken teriyaki rice bowl with veggies was phenomenal. Tonkatsu ramen just as tasty as Japan. I was pleasantly surprised. Extra pork belly added and not overcooked. My chef spouse loves this place. Biggest plus was the boba tea varieties. Great hang out spot too with games and family friendly. We went to the Sykesville Location! Also the music is on point creates a great atmosphere. Hidden gem!

I came here not knowing what to expect. I was in the mood for Ramen. The staff is nice and friendly, place is clean. The ramen was just regular, nothing to brag about. If I come next time I will try one of the Poke bowls.

Went here as a refresher between time of going to another store. Definitely a great space the aura and the tea was great... my favorite is taro with bubbles.

Bubble tea SMALL vs LARGE

This place is cute! Very very cute! But the tapioca wasn't soft, didn't taste fresh, and it made my stomach hurt:( I got the same drink as last time and I really should've just listened to MY OWN REVIEW lol!!! Maybe it's because I got almond milk. Probably that. IDK but my drink was bland and just tasted like a walnut but mediocre tapioca pearls. Also, our orders came out within literally not even a minute. I can't tell if that's a good or bad thing XD Service was kinda awkward! I had three people staring at me while I was looking at the menu deciding what I wanted:/ Im also indecisive and always love hearing recommendations and none of them knew a single answer to any of my questions besides what the sizes were.

We loved our ramen! 1 star off because there were no donuts, our table wasn't clean (we moved twice), and screens were not working. The person at the register was not smiling or sweet. She seemed young and tired. Other than that the pork belly tonkstu ramen was good. I also wish I knew there were extra toppings. There were no screens so I asked the person on the register and she wasn't too helpful. Hubby got the mushrooms which were very sweet and went well in the spicy broth. We would go back.

I loved the decor and the staff were extremely nice! Taichi offers poke bowls, ramen, bubble tea and mochi donuts on the weekends (we didn't know :( ) Bubble tea: Milk teas are used with lactose free milk but over all, the teas were a little to milky tasting and not quite sweet enough for my preference. It could have been that I didn't quite mix it throughly enough though. Poke bowls: We built our own bowls and they have a lot of options to choose from! Portion sizes were good. I chose 2 sauces but it wasn't enough for my bowl. I'll be sure to ask for more next time!

Poké bowls for 2

I really enjoy eating here because of the options to customize my poké bowl. I usually stack it as high with veggies as they let me and then take the leftovers home for lunch the next day. I also like the bamboo "booth" seating and green decor. It's a modern minimalist ambiance and music isn't too loud which I enjoy as well. I've tried their hot drinks which are also equally delicious as the bowls and rolls. Highly recommend this place either as take out or dine in. Service is also pretty quick and the cashiers always double check to make sure my order is right.

Came to Columbia, Maryland and was craving for a bubble tea. Saw Tachi bubble tea and immediately went in to try. Did not know they have ramen and poke bowl too, what a surprise! We ordered two fruity drinks and the sweetness is just right. We also ordered the ramen with pork and poke bowl with spicy tuna and salmon. I love the soup base of the ramen! It's such a cozy place and the interior design is beautiful. Staff are very friendly. We will definitely come back again.

Taro Milk Tea and Pork Tonkotsu Ramen (9.2.22)
Carroll N.

9.2.22 Loved everything about my first visit including the food, bubble tea, and cute/cozy decor. Ordering Process: Place your order at the register. You will be given a number and they will call your number to pick up at the counter. Food: -Pork Tonkotsu Ramen - Broth was flavorful, ramen and pork was tender. -Vegetable Miso Ramen - Friend ordered and enjoyed it. Drinks: Taro Bubble Tea - Tapioca was cooked perfectly and soft just like I liked. Taro was flavorful. Next time I will ask for less ice. I took my time drinking it and it became watered down because the ice melted. Service: Staff who took my order was knowledgeable and helpful in answering my question. One mishap was that I ordered a small bubble tea, but inadvertently charged for a large. Decor/Ambience: -Cute, warm, and welcoming. -Board games (Jenga, Chess/Checkers) are available. - Floor chairs and counter seating in the front by the entrance Misc Info: -They have a sink in the back by the restrooms. Love this idea so that if you need to wash your hands you can do so without having to wait in line for the restroom. -When you are done eating, there is a bin to place your trays and bowls. -Water pitchers and plastic cups are available and by the napkins and utensils (chopsticks, plastic forks and spoons.) I do wish they had soup spoons, which would make it easier to drink the broth. My total came out to $22, which is a bit pricy. If it were cheaper, I'd probably come here every week. Really loved everything about it. So glad it's across the street and in the neighborhood.

Sushi rolls were all great and fresh. Yellow tail hibachi I was just a little different on the flavor , but it was very fresh and presented in a beautiful way. I also got Wago beef rice. Rice was great, very flavorful. but I was not a fan of the beef - It was couple huge pieces. Rea tender. Not your typical way of beef in fried rice. Yet fresh and good. I would come and try other dishes.

Takumi Japanese Bistro and Bar…read more My first visit to this welcome addition to our local mall. The restaurant blends modern and traditional Japanese design and occupies the former space where a coffee shop once stood. There is ample free parking outside, though Friday evenings in this part of Columbia are notoriously busy. Food -- Thoughtfully presented, visually appealing, and made with fresh ingredients. Seafood Miso Soup -- A large bowl filled with whole fresh clams, scallops, shrimp, and green onion. A very generous portion--so much so that she brought some home to enjoy later. Salmon Skin Salad -- Pieces of salmon skin ranging from crispy to slightly chewy, mixed with cucumber, fish roe, spicy mayo, and eel sauce. A delicious combination. Signature Maki - "Maryland" Roll -- Beautifully presented with blue crab, shishito peppers (mild and slightly sweet), Old Bay-torched salmon, spicy mayo, and rice pearls. Both friends quickly devoured theirs. Prices felt somewhat higher than typical mall fare, but the freshness of the ingredients and attention to detail made it worthwhile. The entire staff we encountered were engaging and genuinely seemed happy to be there for their guests. A big nod to management for making hospitality an important part of the dining experience. One minor suggestion: the attractive menus could use periodic checks, as a few pages appeared a bit worn. I would happily recommend a visit--perhaps on a less hectic day so you can enjoy the décor and food at a more relaxed pace. There is also an outdoor patio that will be especially appealing once the warmer weather returns.

The bathrooms at Common Kitchen are definitely kid friendly. I was able to use the changing table in the stall for my toddler without any issues. I also appreciate the cleanliness in the bathrooms at the tables. Many food halls look trashed and this place is well maintained. Overall this business is ideal for my husband and I taking my active toddler out to eat. I liked that she had freedom to move around as needed without being in the way of other customers. We tried a few spots. The hot dog place was a solid choice--simple, reliable, and exactly what you want when feeding kids who just want food they recognize. The real standout for me was the Haitian pâtés: flaky, flavorful, and worth ordering more than one. I tried the codfish which was way too salty but had a nice kick, and the oxtails. Wish they had the chicken and beef available to try. The only miss for us was the Vietnamese spot, which was a little underwhelming compared to the rest--fine, but the simple things I ordered just didn't land for us. Will definitely try another visit to check out the bar and different vendors who weren't open today. I noticed an Indian food spot and the Trifecta bar that seemed like a chill place to catch up with a friend.
