Matcha Milk Tea
Courtney R.

This a cute, fast lunch or afternoon tea spot while you're shopping around Columbia. I tried the matcha bubble tea and a sushi burrito, both were really good.

Sushi burrito and sauces
Thembi S.

I was looking for something different for lunch and paused by Taichi to read the menu. Almost immediately I was taken by the sushi burrito, so I went inside for more information. The young lady behind the counter was super helpful. She showed me the "make your own sushi burrito" order sheet and gave me suggestions from best sellers. I filled out the sheet, unsure of my choices. A lot of times where I have to pick all my options, I either go too far or combine flavors that do not go together. I was hopeful for my burrito tho. I paid and was given a number, my food was ready shortly thereafter. I took it back to work for consumption. Overall, I felt the options I chose worked together really well! I had a number of dipping sauces but preferred the soy sauce/wasabi combo most. The burrito is more of a taco as the sides of the seaweed wrap don't touch - and that's important to note. Eating this "burrito" is really messy. Overall, interesting concept. A little too pricy though where all I'm getting is a burrito, no sides, no drinks, so unlikely I return.

Thai tea boba
Victoria E.

Came in because I was in the area and craving boba. This spot is neat because it was a boba, poke bowl and ramen spot. It was empty when I came in, I was surprised it wasn't busier. I ordered the Thai tea boba and was glad I could satisfy my craving, but just a tad disappointed with the drink. The boba quality was good though! Cooked perfectly and the proportion to the drink was perfect. I was disappointed that I was not able to adjust the sugar level (I usually get 50 or 70% sugar) so the drink was too sweet for my liking. In addition, I don't think there was enough milk in my drink because even after mixing it, it was still a darker color and I would've preferred a slightly more milkier taste. The tea was very strong but the entire beverage was really sweet so it was off. I would come back to try the food options and maybe give the boba a second try after I allow the ice to melt to dilute the sweetness a bit.

Peach tea

Came here for bubble tea only. The inside is really cute they have natural wood and plants for a more instagramable look. The service is pretty standard there are no "hellos" when you walk in it's just "what do you want to order" I got the peach green tea and it was good. Very comparable to the other places in the area. I think if I had a bubble tea craving this place is a convenient stop to get some tasty bubble tea

I came here not knowing what to expect. I was in the mood for Ramen. The staff is nice and friendly, place is clean. The ramen was just regular, nothing to brag about. If I come next time I will try one of the Poke bowls.

This place is cute! Very very cute! But the tapioca wasn't soft, didn't taste fresh, and it made my stomach hurt:( I got the same drink as last time and I really should've just listened to MY OWN REVIEW lol!!! Maybe it's because I got almond milk. Probably that. IDK but my drink was bland and just tasted like a walnut but mediocre tapioca pearls. Also, our orders came out within literally not even a minute. I can't tell if that's a good or bad thing XD Service was kinda awkward! I had three people staring at me while I was looking at the menu deciding what I wanted:/ Im also indecisive and always love hearing recommendations and none of them knew a single answer to any of my questions besides what the sizes were.

This is such a cute bubbles place that is perfect for chilling with friends or even remote work. There is plenty of seating in the booths and also a cute decorated floor seating. Service was fast, I placed an order at the counter and my boba was ready in a few minutes. There was a decent amount of boba and I order the mango green tea which was the perfect amount of sweetness. I would definitely return to try their food and other boba flavors.

Takoyaki yummy!

Sykesville location!! Amazing food. Vegetarian options galore. Chicken teriyaki rice bowl with veggies was phenomenal. Tonkatsu ramen just as tasty as Japan. I was pleasantly surprised. Extra pork belly added and not overcooked. My chef spouse loves this place. Biggest plus was the boba tea varieties. Great hang out spot too with games and family friendly. We went to the Sykesville Location! Also the music is on point creates a great atmosphere. Hidden gem!

Went here as a refresher between time of going to another store. Definitely a great space the aura and the tea was great... my favorite is taro with bubbles.

We loved our ramen! 1 star off because there were no donuts, our table wasn't clean (we moved twice), and screens were not working. The person at the register was not smiling or sweet. She seemed young and tired. Other than that the pork belly tonkstu ramen was good. I also wish I knew there were extra toppings. There were no screens so I asked the person on the register and she wasn't too helpful. Hubby got the mushrooms which were very sweet and went well in the spicy broth. We would go back.

BYO Poke Bowl

The decor in the restaurant is adorable and is kept pretty clean. They also have a little shelf with some games (my husband and I played the sriracha game while we waited). The people at the cashier were very friendly and approachable. We both got the build-your-own poke bowls which was good and filling. I liked that they allow you to pick as little or as much as you want in your bowl. The only downside in my opinion, was how small the salmon pieces were cut. They offer these poke bowls in burrito form as well, which I'll have to come back to try. Overall, the price was reasonable and enjoyed our meal. Before we left, I ordered Thai tea with boba and it was delicious as well. We can't wait to be back!

Melody Y.

I loved the decor and the staff were extremely nice! Taichi offers poke bowls, ramen, bubble tea and mochi donuts on the weekends (we didn't know :( ) Bubble tea: Milk teas are used with lactose free milk but over all, the teas were a little to milky tasting and not quite sweet enough for my preference. It could have been that I didn't quite mix it throughly enough though. Poke bowls: We built our own bowls and they have a lot of options to choose from! Portion sizes were good. I chose 2 sauces but it wasn't enough for my bowl. I'll be sure to ask for more next time!

Poké bowls for 2

I really enjoy eating here because of the options to customize my poké bowl. I usually stack it as high with veggies as they let me and then take the leftovers home for lunch the next day. I also like the bamboo "booth" seating and green decor. It's a modern minimalist ambiance and music isn't too loud which I enjoy as well. I've tried their hot drinks which are also equally delicious as the bowls and rolls. Highly recommend this place either as take out or dine in. Service is also pretty quick and the cashiers always double check to make sure my order is right.

STAY AWAY. Absolutely horrible service!!!…read more Our server, Nye, was incredibly rude & the whole AYCE experience felt like a complete rip-off. He repeatedly gave our orders to other tables & when we complained and tried to order more food, he told us we COULDN'T order anything else until our missing orders arrived. Except THEY NEVER CAME!!! After waiting 20+ minutes, we complained again and Nye gave us such a rude and condescending tone and response: "We have other customers too ya know." Seriously?! WE'RE CUSTOMERS TOO, ya douche bag. It got so ridiculous that 38 MINUTES into our meal, our table of FOUR had received a grand total of TWO plates of meat - even those were the plates we had to take from the neighboring table because our food kept getting sent elsewhere. And here's the kicker: AYCE is only 90 MINUTES. More than 1/3 of our allotted dining time was basically wasted waiting for food that never came, while our server wouldn't even let us order more. We only FINALLY started receiving our meat after we complained to the Vietnamese manager. He immediately stepped in, got things moving & extended our dining time to make up for the ridiculous delay. Shout out to him!!! But having to escalate to a manager just to receive the food we were PAYING FOR is absurd. And maybe Nye felt like he didn't have to bother because the gratuity was already automatic due to our party size. That would certainly explain the complete lack of effort. When your tip is guaranteed regardless of how badly you treat the table, I guess actually serving your customers becomes optional? STAY AWAY or at the very least, pray you don't get Nye as your server.

On bad days, it's been my comfort spot, and on good days, it's one of the first places I think of to celebrate. I've introduced countless friends and family members to this restaurant, and it's become something of a gathering place for us. I've recommended Urban Hot Pot to so many people and have had nothing but positive things to say about it. That's what makes my experience yesterday so incredibly disappointing. My friends and I frequent this restaurant so often that several staff members recognize us. In four years, I have NEVER experienced the kind of treatment I received from one particular employee last night. It was upsetting enough that I'm genuinely reconsidering whether I want to return. Yesterday, I brought a friend here to catch up after not seeing each other for years. We arrived around 9 p.m., knowing the restaurant closed at 11 p.m. Naturally, we spent a lot of time talking, which slowed down our meal. However, we were very much aware of the time and made a conscious effort to finish well before closing. At approximately 10:38 p.m., an employee with dark, shaggy hair approached our table and abruptly slapped our receipt down in front of us. In a rushed, dismissive tone, he said, "Here's your receipt. You can pay up at the front when you're ready." I've been coming here long enough to understand how things work. I'm well aware that once your dining session ends, the staff typically brings your check. That wasn't the issue. It was the manner in which he approached us and the attitude that accompanied it. Shortly afterward, the restaurant's music was turned off, and we noticed several staff members standing around. My friend and I exchanged uncomfortable looks because the atmosphere suddenly felt incredibly unwelcoming, almost as though we were being pressured to leave. Mind you, it was still more than 20 minutes before closing. But what really bothered me happened just THREE MINUTES after he dropped off our receipt. I had literally just put my spoon down after finishing the last sip of my soup when the same employee returned. With an unnecessarily nasty attitude, he asked, "Are you guys still eating?" while gesturing his hands in frustration, as though our presence was some sort of inconvenience. I responded, "I literally just finished my last sip, and we were about to get up to leave, but I'm confused. Don't you close at 11? Why are you rushing us?" In an incredibly rude and dismissive tone, he replied, "Yeah, we do, but if you're done, I'd rather you go pay," while repeatedly gesturing toward the register. Excuse me? We were paying customers who had done nothing wrong, weren't being disruptive, and were already preparing to leave. We weren't refusing to pay, lingering past closing, or giving anyone a difficult time. And to put this into perspective, when we walked out of the restaurant, I checked the time, and it was only 10:44 p.m. We left a full SIXTEEN MINUTES before closing. So what exactly was the rush? There is a HUGE difference between politely communicating that a restaurant is preparing to close and making customers feel like they're being kicked out. I completely understand that restaurant employees have closing responsibilities and want to finish their shifts on time. I've never had an issue respecting that. But if a restaurant advertises an 11 p.m. closing time, customers shouldn't be made to feel uncomfortable or unwelcome at 10:40 p.m., especially when they're actively finishing their meal and preparing to leave. What makes this particularly upsetting is that it was so out of character for the Urban Hot Pot I've come to know and love. I've had countless positive interactions with the staff over the years, and this was my first time encountering this particular employee. Unfortunately, his attitude left an incredibly negative impression. What was supposed to be a fun evening catching up with an old friend ended on such an uncomfortable note. Instead of leaving happy, as I have so many times before, I left feeling disrespected and disappointed. This wasn't just some random restaurant I decided to try. This was a place I've supported, celebrated at, recommended, and returned to consistently for FOUR YEARS. I don't expect special treatment because I'm a regular. I expect the same basic courtesy and respect that every paying customer deserves. I sincerely hope management addresses how employees communicate with guests, particularly near closing. A simple, polite reminder would have been more than sufficient. There was no need for the hostility, dismissive tone, or repeated pressure to leave. It's genuinely sad that one employee's behavior could make me question returning to a place that has been such a favorite of mine for so long. But unfortunately, that's exactly how this experience left me feeling.

Wish they had the chicken and beef available to try. The only miss for us was the Vietnamese spot, which was a little underwhelming compared to the rest--fine, but the simple things I ordered just didn't land for us. Unfortunately, the reality did not quite match those expectations. The restaurant is located in a somewhat rundown shopping plaza, and the dining area itself felt small and dated. There were boxes of supplies stored in the main dining room, which detracted from the overall atmosphere. The setup felt more like a typical takeout-oriented Chinese restaurant than a destination dining experience. Even the water station, which was self-service from an office-style water dispenser, felt unusual for a restaurant of this reputation. The restaurant is known for its hand-pulled noodles, which was one of the main reasons we visited. However, based on the overall presentation and environment, the experience did not fully convey the level of craftsmanship we had anticipated. As for the food, my husband ordered the chicken with wide noodles. Unfortunately, the dish was extremely oily, making the noodles difficult to pick up with chopsticks. I ordered the Jajang noodles, which were decent but lacked the depth of flavor I was hoping for. Overall, our visit was disappointing given the restaurant's strong reputation and positive reviews.
