I was very excited to try this place out because when I looked at their menu, I saw they had authentic type dishes that you could find locally in Thailand. Pad Thai 5/5 - This is exactly what authentic Pad Thai tastes like and I was not disappointed at all. I really enjoyed this. Chicken Satay 5/5 - Obviously can't go wrong with chicken skewers, but the amount they give you and the size of it definitely made it worth it. The peanut sauce and veggies on the side also elevated the dish. Spicy Beef Salad 3/5 - I was a little disappointed with this one because the beef was very chewy and hard to eat. This spot reminds of the family owned spots I've been to in Chicago. Out of all of the Thai places I've been here, Tahntawan was my favorite! The service is incredible, reminiscent of being served by your own family. The tea was rich and not too sweet, a great palette cleanser. The chicken skewers were well marinated and paired with the best peanut sauce I've ever had. Everything tasted fresh and I know I'm coming back here whenever I visit Marina. I wasn't wow'd by this place. I got the Pad Thai and a Thai Iced Coffee: the coffee was pretty tasty and on the stronger side (it only had a little cream though), but I didn't like the Pad Thai. It didn't have that tamarind/sweet taste you usually get with Pad Thai, and the tofu felt "added on" afterwards (i.e., not cooked with the dish). Another hidden gem. The food was tasty, portions large, prices reasonable. We got papaya salad which had a unique smell but tasted good. Spicy beef salad had extra tender meat and was flavorful. Green curry was rich in coconut which was an acquired taste but we liked it. And the pad thai was normal and delicious. Service was fast, and the water checked up often making sure everything was good. There's indoor and outdoor seating but no heat lamps outside. It's a bit tricky to get since it's on the 2nd floor but don't be confused by the restaurants you have to walk through to get to it. read more

I really enjoyed this place! All the dishes we tried were delicious! We got medium spice for all the dishes and it was just the right amount of kick. The Papaya Salad was fresh and tangy. The Beef Salad had soft and tender pieces of beef in tangy dressing. The green curry and pad Thai were also on point. The service was fast and friendly. It's on the second story of a strip mall on Washington Blvd on the border between Marina del Rey and Venice. It's nothing fancy, yet it's clean and comfortable. I'd come back for sure! read more

The food always arrives well-packaged and on time, with fresh flavors and the right balance of spices. I tried pra ram here for the first time and loved it--definitely a new favorite. My ideal meal includes pineapple fried rice with shrimp, pra ram chicken, and pad Thai noodles. Portions are solid, and the prices are fair for West LA. Looking forward to ordering again! read more

We decided to have dinner pretty late and this was one of the only places that was open. We walked upstairs and grabbed a seat on the patio since it was a bit stuffy inside. The waiter grabbed us some menus and we quickly ordered food which was way more than we needed for only two people. 3/5 Spicy larb Kai - swimming in fish sauce but was still good 3/5 Green chicken curry - decent 4/5 Pad kra pow - very good 4/5 Crab Rangoon - very good with the dipping sauce 0/5 Sticky rice - too wet and I tried to complain but the waiter pretty much said 'too bad' The food was pretty good but giving this a low score because of the service. This is the worst Thai restaurant I have ever been. At first, I wasn't sure if I should made this negative review. But then considering the quality and experience comparing with the over average reviews there's quite a discrepancy towards reality. It all started with a Papaya salad as an appetizer. Besides the small part ion for the price the salad had a suspicious unusual odor (!!) which I never experienced in any other salad or Thai dish before. It was disgusting and looking back it makes me very made. This is unacceptable and very negligent. Luckily we did not end up with food poisoning. Our big mistake was, that we did not canceled our remaining order and left. We were super hungry and thought the remaining dishes are better, but not really.. I got the Tom Kla which was a small size with almost no meat inside and not tasty at all. My wife had a green curry with veggies which came only 3 pieces of eggplant - ridicules. Also not tasty. My friend had a pad Thai, he said it was "ok", but not great. For the Salad and three dishes plus tap water (not well filtered, too) we spend $70 (plus tip - they deserved no tip, but I added $10 and mentioned "Salad was not good" on the receipt, no response) The first thing we did at house was cleaning our mouths with clean water. It was really this bad. Pointless to say that I would never recommend this place, except people who I don't like.. It's very, very rare that I gave 1 star, not sure I ever did. But this one needs a lesson that this food quality and value is not acceptable.. read more

Super solid neighborhood spot for some affordable comfort food. Ate indoors and the staff were so quick, friendly, and accommodating. They have both a cute indoors and outdoor seating. Pineapple fried rice and tom yum soup were good, very comforting and solid dishes. Very affordable too which is hard to find now on the west side. The Thai spicy fried rice with chicken was delicious! Just the way I remember it tasting in Thailand! This five star is definitely because of that dish! I love a little spicy and basil in my fried rice. The calamari rings were crispy and the sweet and sour sauce was delicious. The pad Thai was good but I've had better, I am coming back for the Thai spicy fried rice! The Thai tea is also yummy! My boyfriend got orange chicken and he thought it was delicious and crispy! This is perhaps the worst food I have ever had. I ordered thai green cury (Drunken Noodles) although I have made better noodles drunk. and their seafood soup. The soup was some of the most bland I have ever had and their fish tasted off. Thai soup is normally flavorful for its price it was absurdly bland and the quality of the seafood is worrying. The noodles were terrible and the quality of the shrimp as my protein was again lacking. The person overcooked the noodles it was clearly way to mushy. After 2 dissapointing dishes I thought "Surerly these people can't fuck up a green curry." Boy was I wrong. For whatever reason rice was not even included in a curry order the standard at most restauraunts. The curry itself had low amounts of chicken. I can say that I have had far better curry prepared by white people in Humboldt County at Japhy's. This is perhaps the worst thai food and I am wondering how anyone in their right mind can give this awful place 5 stars. I am sure one of the fucked up homeless people provided the ingredients could cook better. I would only come back to this establishment if Gordon Ramsey was doing an episode of kitchen nightmares. Stars for the location. It has a very inviting cozy well aired patio, great for parties or dates. Ample free parking in front of the building. But food is average. Maybe their specialty is something other than I tried so far. As you can see on the picture, Pad Thai is lacking fresh herbs, compared to other places. Tofu in Pad Thai was absolutely disgusting like a chalk - don't order it but Tofu in the soup was ok. The soup was ok, didn't taste rich, was too watery.
