This is a brand new CLC trail. Plenty of parking. I went on a Saturday, mid morning. The initial run of the trail from the lot to the main trails did not seem well cleared but the main trails are well cleared and amply marked with flares. I cobbled together a roughly 2.3 mile loop. Started on Bluestem then Coyote Alley. Definitely take the short detour to the lake on the Otter Ledge Trail. It has lily pads blooming with white flowers and is just beautiful. Then I took the Community Forest Road to the Barred Owl trail to head back to the parking area. All shaded. Mostly easy but there are some hills. Wear good shoes as with any forest trail. Despite dousing myself in bug spray, the mosquitoes whispered sweet nothings in my ear much of the way, but they love my exhaled CO2. Bugs were actually worse in the forest than by the lake. Boats are there, free to take out, and there is fishing info posted. I only saw one other couple while there. The only trail I didn't see was Big Woods. Will return to explore that. Lovely area! read more
