I'm glad it was Costa Sol Rafting. Make sure you book at least a day in advance, a week or 2 during busy season. They will pick you up so don't bother driving. We were at a Hostel in San Jose. First of all. I don't care what anyone says. Our guides Jorge and Ronnie kept us alive. 3 out of the 6 of us fell out of the boat during our 1st class 4 rapids. I was lucky enough to have stayed on the boat so I was privileged to see Jorge and Ronnie work under pressure. They were absolute experts while shouting commands at those in the water and at us in the boat. We all made it out! Sounds scary? Look people. You're white water rafting class 1 to 4 rapids. So don't complain how dangerous it is. Go to the rivers that offer only cute class ones if class 4 is not your thing. If my rescue story isn't enough reason to choose Costa Sol Rafting, not sure what you're looking for. All the companies raft the same Pacuare River. BUY THE DISK!!! Check out my pics. Your camera or Gopro will not duplicate the skills of Ronnie. He was an amazing camera man! He also did barrel rolls in his kayak. Such a beast. Oh and they feed you before AND after! Yay! We enjoyed a gorgeous two hour ride in a tandem kayak together on a still Monday morning, the only ones on the river for a couple hours! My first (and so far only whoa) time white water rafting and it was so exhilarating and cool. Alvin did fall out at one point which was a bit scary. But he made it back inside, and rest of us stayed in the raft going through the intense rapids with water spraying everywhere and beautiful scenery around.

Unfortunately that was not the case, upon arrival into the store the manager informed us that he took it upon himself to call the state trooper on us rather than knocking on the door to ask if we were going to rent from them. As we entered the store three teenage employees greeted us. As we waited to rent from the manager he came in and stated he called the state troopers and they were on the way. Calling the police on a couple who is about to spend a good buck on your establishment is extremely unprofessional. We could tell we were not welcomed so we said "Have a nice day!" The manager proceeded to follow us at and scream profanities at us. To whomever owns this establishment please educate your staff.

We didn't reserve any stand up paddle boards but we were greeted by a friendly college student who got us out on the water quickly. We boated under the bridge and saw a man made dam before heading over to the sand bar where our kids splashed around and played in the mud. We had kids as young as 6. If you're just paddling, I think 1 hour is enough but if you want to stop and play on the sandbar then 2 hours. Great time with a great business.
