I wish yelp allowed videos so that you can also hear the peace and sounds of nature that I experienced as I kayaked. ‍

Loved every minute of it! Would definitely recommend booking for two hours since you'll want to stay out longer once you're out on the water. ‍

We rented a tandem canoe today and it was amazing! Equipment was delivered early and in great condition. Location on the Esopus Creek provides an excellent backdrop. Highly recommended!

I went kayaking here with my friend and we had such a wonderful time! We had a time slot for 3:00pm but arrived 15 minutes early as instructed. Gail found us in the parking lot and got us strapped up and in the kayaks immediately so we got to start paddling early! It was very safe and super fun. The lake area was wide though there were some kelp/plants in the middle but it was big enough that we never ran out of places to paddle for our hour! We even saw some deer! We went back after an hour but Gail let us paddle some more. She was so kind and helpful and generous and fun to talk to. She even gave us recommendations for where to get ice cream in Saugerties! Great excursion if you're in the Catskills, great customer service, super fun times.

My family and I had a great time kayaking. Gail was very nice, she explained where you can pull off to swim along the national preserve. Which we did after about an hour of padding. The kayak was in good condition, well used which was to be expected but no issues at all with them. Seats were nice and in excellent condition no tears or anything. Price was very reasonable for 1 single and 1 double kayak for 2 hours. I highly recommend this place. Well worth it. We'll be back again. Thanks Gail.

We had an amazing time kayaking with Gail. She was very warm and friendly. She gave us a brief history of the area and described a few of the sites that we came upon while kayaking. We would definitely go back for another one of her tours and/or kayak rental.

My boyfriend and I booked a tandem kayak for two hours. The two workers were super helpful in showing us how to paddle in that it was our first time (the tutorial was super quick but they would definitely explain something if you didn't understand). They took amazing precautions to sanitize everything and everyone was wearing masks which was super comforting. We will 10/10 be doing this again :) the staff also had very welcoming and enjoyable personalities which made the whole process very personable.

Very relaxing tandem kayak experience. Saw a bald eagle while paddling. Very organized. Public bathrooms near the playground.

I wish I could afford to support smaller stores like this, but I only have so much money to spend on gear. The rest is spent on play! I will keep coming back to Mountain Tops for their kayak rentals. Living in NYC, I do have to make the trek upstate for my outdoor activities. I hike and camp in the Hudson highlands and now kayaking will be added to the list as a regular activities. Mountain Tops makes it too easy! My first experience with them was last year. My boyfriend and I booked a kayaking tour to Bannerman's Island, which included an on-island tour. Neither of us had ever kayaked, but after a quick tutorial we were on our way, with their guides nearby, of course. The guides are great (well, they were great that day) and they have comparable prices. Now that we know what to do, we go straight to the waterfront and rent out kayaks for the day so that we could paddle the river and pull up on random little shores to explore. It's an affordable and easily accessible activity. Tours need to be booked online or at the actual store location on Main Street. Kayak rentals can be done at the waterfront, depending on availability. And yes, you can use your card at the waterfront! I do wish they had later hours. Imagine kayaking in a sunset...oh!

Beautiful late August day, with a crisp chill in the breeze, but as the sun gained more space then…read morethe clouds we were back to summer. I've paddle Big Pond in the past and thought this central Mass lake, just North of Otis Reservoir, deserves to be shared with other Active Life Water Yelpers. Then public launch is small and at first glance you think, "Where's the Lake?" Located in a quiet end of a naturally scenic waterway leading from the lake to its overflow point. Frankly, this is my favorite portion of the Yak adventure. The bog stream is about a half mile from the lake; deep enough for motorized craft to enter the lake (my less favorite component). The stream is lined with Lilly Pads and Aquatic Grasses with a wooded shore. Home to fish, turtle, bugs zipping along the surfaces, and beaver along with the occasional Heron waiting for a delicacy. Very peaceful. Then the waterway opens up to the wide lake. Cottages of all ages and upkeep, and not overly crowded on this day. The lake has a heavier iron content and is a bit murky, just the same, very pleasant to swim and enjoy water craft. Yes, powerboats do zip to and fro, however, they tend to be courteous in passing at a safe distance. In the center of the lake an island large enough to host roughly 15 to 25 quaint cottages who have figured out how to transport humans and their contents from the shore. Potable water and sewage disposal baffles this curious Tom Sawyer. Just the same, it's worth a spin around or paddle around, just beware or other shallow glacial rubble poking out above or just below the surface.
