This is a no-nonsense eatery serving authentic Mexican food to a mostly local crowd. The interior has the feel of a classic Mexican restaurant, complete with the signature '90s-style hard plastic booths and tables. The restaurant appears to be run by a couple of very nice ladies, and the overall experience was welcoming. The al pastor here is different from the typical style cooked on a trompo. It initially caught me by surprise, but it had great flavor and I enjoyed it. The burrito was large and generously filled with meat, beans, and rice, and the salsas packed a good amount of heat. I do wish the tortilla had been a little chewier, but that's a minor point. Overall, it's a great local spot with good food and generous portions. read more

Tacos Unicos is a hidden gem in South Fontana. Literally...their sign is out, so the small space is really easy to miss. If you see the Indian Pizza place, you're in the right place. Staff are very friendly and welcoming. Service is quick. There is a good amount of indoor seating, but most people seem to order take-out - understandable, as they aren't in the safest or cleanest surrounding area. Decently clean interior, clean bathrooms (two single stalls). Decent parking in the small shared lot. There is some music playing on a TV, but the noise level stays relatively mild. Not an overwhelming menu, but there's something for everyone. Unless you're absolutely spice intolerant, order things "as is" without removing any toppings; you won't regret it. Their carne asada is one of my favorites: it's lean, moist, and full of flavor. 10/10 recommend their carne asada nachos (again, with everything on it). The chips are something special. They also have a good variety of drinks and desserts. Prices are standard/fair. Definitely recommend! read more

I have this place a try ones again and disappointed I got a burrito of carne asada and I was left like were is the beef it's like I asked for a rice burrito and easy on the meat I was taking bites of nothing but rice the burrito it's not well balanced with the ingredients they put in it to top it of the bit of meat it had it have no flavor read more

Came here on a Sunday at 7:50pm (they close at 9pm) I noticed the grill and restaurant were already cleaned for the night and sure enough the cashier says they're only taking to go orders. The person in line behind me also left. I wonder if the owners know the lazy cashiers are costing them sales. read more

Ive been coming here for years!!! I love their sopes! I literally drove 15min...to order them. I love the spicy salsa they put with their food. It is SPICY for those of you who can't handle Chile. Personally, I like how fine the meat is cut. Also, I haven't tried anything other than the tacos, beans, rice, and sopes de chorizo and carne asada (all have been delicious). I would give it 5 stars but the meat can be on the dry side sometimes (if you go later in the day). This place is definitely a hole in the wall, but I don't care. I've never had any issues. We were visiting family near Citrus Ave and needed something tasty and quick. We stumbled upon Tacos Únicos and decided to try their carne asada nachos. What a great find! The tortilla chips were freshly made, perfectly crispy, and the carne asada was flavorful and cooked just right. The combination made for some seriously satisfying nachos. I've been coming here for years and I absolutely love this spot. They have seats inside, u can call in your order and they're the most polite folks. They have a few new workers and the food is still very delicious and I love that because most places food changes as the chefs do but Taco Unicos has always been the bomb. By far my favorite local restaurant. they have THE best red sauce I could die for it, and definitely get there carne asada fries with a side of red sauce and drench it you won't be sorry... This little hole in the wall on a questionable side of town is amazing!! The burrito is the best in Fontana, in my not so humbled opinion. The asada nachos are bomb! Their taquitos are yummy! came to this place cause i was working nearby. Reviews said it was okay and the food was okay. I had the burrito and the only flavor it had was the spanish rice and the asada was okay. The burrito was an okay size but not big. I can forgive all that cause it was the morning but they told me they can only give me one green salsa per order??? And the rest will be charged... I got lunch for a crew of four and you can only give me one green salsa with my order? Please. I just said give me the salsa and they said it was in there. Nope just red salsa. I had the 4 taco special , not the best ived had meat was a bit dey , but they werent the worst, the only thing i can suggest is working a bit on costumer service a thank you maybe? I ordered a bean&cheese and a carne asada burrito. They have a 50 cents debit card fee. As soon as they handed me my bag to go, I noticed that the weight was rather light for two burritos. I asked the cook for three hot sauces since they didn't put any inside when they handed me my bag. No cilantro, onions, limes, NOT EVEN SALSA was included in the bag. Furthermore, I couldn't get any myself since all the condiments are inside the cooking area. Even though I asked him for three sauces, he only gave me two and didn't offer any additional condiments. His didn't have a friendly demeanor so I didn't bother asking for anything else. I got home and opened my bean&cheese burrito. Just like I expected based on the weight, it was on the smaller side and I felt like I was eating a Go-Gurt because I had to squeeze the beans from the bottom of the burrito to ensure that I wasn't taking bites of 75% tortilla. It only had about half the amount of beans that you would expect from a solid bean&cheese burrito. Stingy. That being said, the bean&cheese and salsa had a really good flavor, it's just not what I expected for the money. TL;DR Place has 5 star potential, but below average service and sub-par portions make it not worth going out of your way for. read more

Looks like any ordinary mom and pops Mexican restaurant in a small plaza. Parking is a little cramped, but there is usually a spot or two. Food, on the other hand, is above and beyond. Always stop on by whenever I get the chance or usually after a long day at the laundromat. The neat thing about this restaurant is that their kitchen is "open," so you can see how they make it on the spot while you wait. I always grab the carne asada fries. There's a reason why it's rated best asada fries in town. read more

I don't always feel the need to write a review but in this case I do. I came here based on the reviews. I'm on a date and it's my cheat day so I wanted to make it count. Sadly I feel like I should of picked a different place. I saw the pictures of the carne asada fries and they looked bomb so that's what I got. My review is just going based off on the carne. The fries and the cheese and everything else was fine. The meat was my problem. It wasn't good, it was old. You could tell it was a day or 2 old and had been reheated many times. If the meat was fresh I would of given it 5 stars . I may give this place another try, who knows. Note I came here on a Saturday night so I expected to have fresh meat knowing many people eat out Saturday nights. Not happy! read more

The place is very small and the parking lot is very compact. It's located in a little sketchy small plaza. I bought carne Assad and it was ok. Nothing stood out when I was there. Maybe because that is not their specialty, but I will come back to try the tacos next time. read more

I love tacos unicos , the salsa is fire spicy with flavor, the asada meat is tender and the pollo tacos r the best ive ever tried. I shared how I felt, explaining that I understood clearing finished plates, but we were clearly not done. His response was dismissive and he walked away. The food had potential, and the aguachiles had good flavor, but the service experience left me disappointed. Sometimes giving guests a little time to enjoy their meal, conversation, and drinks makes a bigger difference than having a perfectly cleared table.

I informed that cashier lady that I wanted my tacos redone by placing them correctly. The cooker ended up just separating same tacos and putting them in a plate I told him no that's not how you serve tacos when you have 3 different meats especially if they're in some sauce. Then another kind gentleman came and said he will go ahead and make three new tacos individually wrapped. I apologize for not getting his name Carmelo was not happy with me but either was I with him So here are some photos on how I receive in the beginning and then how I received at the end.

I love this place. I've been coming here since I was a little girl. The same people are still here. The food is delicious and tastes exactly how I expect and want. This is the best place for Mexican food. The sleeper burrito is recommended. #1 in my book and I havent found a place that comes even close to this place. Bombies!!!!! Came in today with my mom. Ordered a chicken burrito and a number 2 for my mom (burrito, drink, and fries). I was so pleased with the service and even more the bombie burritos!!!! Love the Burritos Dormilon. Doesn't come with Cheese but I always add it. Idk if it the salsa or the meat or all of it but great combo. The Sopes are also worth trying!!
