Man I have been meaning to write a review for this place for many years, but I kept on forgetting about it. Finally I got the time to go back and try their food again. I wanted to write an unbiased review of their food with fresh memory of the taste of their delicious food. Just like how I remembered all those years ago their food is delicious as ever. Probably one of my favorite Mexican places in the entire area. They have tripas which is always always a bonus in my books and cooked to absolute perfection. Their cabeza was so tender and fatty. You cannot go wrong with carne asada either. Getting all those meats on tacos was a absolutely delicious. You can never go wrong with a quesadilla. They have so many things here I wanted to try, but I need to save room for next time. They are closed on Sundays, so be aware about that.

I would say this is pretty decent for the area. They also have cabeza on their menu which a lot of places don't have. They serve the food hot and fresh and cook it on the spot when you order. The downsides is that the meat (carne asada and Al pastor) was a little overcooked but the rest of the toppings in the burrito was good. There's some outdoor seating there too so you can eat it fresh. Overall I would go overall for the convenience and is decent.

Pastor, poyo, and chorizo tacos. Yum!

Delish. Came here again last night, and I was not disappointed. Great tacos, and relatively quick service. We've been coming here for years, and have never had a bad experience.

Was super hyped for this place due to reviews but was a huge disappointment. Service took forever, think I waited for like 25 mins for 3 tacos and a tamale. I got one of each asada, pastor, and pulled pork tacos with another pork tamale. The tacos were pretty dry and nothing special, and the tamale was the biggest disappointment! I think it had like one small piece of shredded pork in that thing shown in the picture!

I asked for a steak burrito, but apparently it's a rice burrito and beans

You guys are terrible. You guys used to be really good but now it's just embarrassing. You guys are so stingy with the meat it's unreal how you guys get away with this? And you guys supposedly charge more because of how much it cost to run your business.

Tuesday Night, no Taco Tuesday Deal at this place but who needs that when their tacos are very worth their price. Grabbed an Al Pastor and Chorizo and they didn't disappoint. Both Delicious in their respective domains. A little disappointed that the Al Pastor didn't have pineapples in them but they did just fine on their own. Along with Chorizo, I usually dread places when I get Chorizo because it's typically a greasy choice. However, this place serves their Chorizo with hardly any grease dripping down; and that's a win in my book Both of them also came with some garnish on top and know that they come with a KICK already in case you're more sensitive on the spicy side. TAKEAWAYS: VERY LOW KEY, FAMILY OWNED, GREASE LESS CHORIZO

Pretty standard tacos. I've tried most of the taco trucks in the South Bay and these tacos are what you'd expect, but it ends there. It doesn't hold a torch to any of the taco trucks in LA and San Diego or some of the other trucks here in the South Bay Area either - mainly due to the meats lacking flavor. The Tacos de Suadero was bland and all I tasted was salsa. Most other places brown the suadero a bit, but this one was straight out the stew. It was tender though. The Buche was also overstewed and lacke texture and flavor. I like the slight chew buche has, but this one was on the pasty side. I didn't taste much of the ancho chili or the stew. I recommend stewing the buche normally, take out the meat when it's done, then reduce that stewing liquid so there's more flavor imparted before putting the buche back in. The Lengua was also way overstewed and lacked texture and salt. I like the gaminess from lengua, but all the beefiness from this was cooked off. The Al Pastor was pretty standard. There are places where you can tell they put their own spin or surprise in the marinade, but this wasn't it. The taco was dripping with oil as well. The salsas are pretty good here and very well balanced! It would be cool if they had their spin on the classic San Jose orange sauce though!

I was randomly craving a churro one day and my boyfriend surprised me with one. It was absolutely delicious. I'd give it a 5/5 for the churro. It was very crunchy on the outside and moist inside; really good balance of cinnamon and sugar. Perfectly satisfied my craving. We also got the carne asada, el pastor, and carnitas. The carne asada is pretty good but quite salty. It's slightly dry but still chewy. El pastor texture was a bit strange. It didn't feel like stripped beef but the seasoning was really good. The carnitas weren't that fatty, which was a bit surprising. Overall, the meat was pretty lean especially for the el pastor. None of the flavors are exploding and a lot of it felt pretty subtle. I think they could improve the meat flavor with longer marination and fattier meat. It doesn't feel like the meat felt as fresh as some other taco places so maybe it became a bit dry. They also fried the tortilla really well so it was quite crispy too, great texture. It didn't seem like it was fried in oil so it wasn't overly greasy and somehow tasted like a healthy taco if there is such a thing. Also loved the radish on the side. It's a good refreshing taste after each taco. Definitely will be back for an epic churro!

Tacos were not bad but there was barely any meat in each taco. I paid $8 for two tacos and there's maybe 5 pieces of meat in each. Very expensive for the amount of food they're giving. Probably more worth the money if you go somewhere that doesn't ration their meats.

Tacos are good, carne asada burrito was great. A bit on the pricy side but worthy once in a while.

I was excited about this taco truck, but it was a huge letdown. The tacos were very, very dry. Fast service, but average quality.

What are their real hours?; I ask because I'm here at 2:00pm on a Saturday at they are all closed up. And does anyone know if they take Apple Pay? Thanks

    Is credit/debit accepted?

    Yes

Does anyone know if the taco truck still operates in the Lucky plaza behind the Valero gas station on El Camino? I haven't seen it in that location for the last few months and wondering if it might not operate there anymore.

I was there last weekend and they were operating!

They take card, but there's an up-charge for it. The order: Super Burrito (asada) $12: I'm not playing on the price, check the photos. Delicious burrito that was a nice size and excellent price point. The tortilla tasted so nicely toasted and had a crisp at the edges. Along with your choice of meat, the burrito has Spanish rice, avocado, onions, salsa, beans. What else do you need? The length was almost my entire forearm, might have been actually. I was also given two sauces: a cilantro green sauce and (chipotle maybe) a red sauce. I did not receive the orange sauce mentioned in other reviews. Remember to request what you'd like. The second time I went, they gave me red sauce and orange sauce. Minus 1 star because of slightly inconsistent quality. When I went the second time, the fillings were still great, but ratio was different than the first time. It made the burrito taste different, no crispiness. Still good, but seemed more like a mid burrito I wouldn't have been raving about. BUT I did go right before closing compared to right after opening, which I can understand could make a difference.

The best of the bunch was the dahi batata puri, but it still didn't quite hit the spot. It was definitely on the sweeter side and I felt like the dahi/yogurt wasn't as creamy as I prefer. The chinese bhel was okay, but didn't have much flavor. Lastly the ragda pattice had so much potential. The flavor was there, but it was insanely spicy- even as someone with a med/high spice tolerance. You could feel the burn traveling down to your stomach. All of us found it unbearable and worse of all felt the affects for a day after. Perhaps we ordered the wrong dishes but after the all the discomfort of the meal- I don't feel inclined to return.

Yesterday, I ordered a Vada Pav, Shalimar Egg Mughlai (on their recommendation from their list of egg dishes), and a Veg Frankie -- and honestly, none of it lived up to the hype(5 stars currently) or price point. Vada Pav: It was okay. The "mirchi" served alongside was literally a raw Thai green chili. Really? At least pan-fry it with some salt and oil to enhance the flavor. For over $10 with taxes, this was already pricier than better Vada Pavs you can get at places like Elco Drive, and yet it offered nothing exceptional. Frankie: This one made me genuinely angry. It was a soggy maida roll stuffed with the same aloo masala from the Vada Pav, plus a few sad shreds of cabbage. That's it. And they had the audacity to charge $12 for it. ($1.50 for cheese, lol I am glad we didn't add)This isn't a Frankie -- it's a lazy repackaged Vada Pav with no flavor or creativity. They threw in some pickled jalapeños on the side, which only added confusion. If you're running a fusion menu(well partially), at least mention it upfront instead of misleading customers. Egg Shalimar Mughlai: At $13, it was passable but still not impressive. The bun on the side was not toasted or anything. Better than the Frankie, but nothing I'd recommend or return for. I was so excited for trying this place but, overall, this place is overpriced, underwhelming, and frankly disappointing. If your Vada Pav and Frankie are practically identical, maybe inform customers before they order both. I wouldn't recommend Maya Kitchen -- save your time, appetite and money and go somewhere else.
