Lived in The Colony for 8 years, never knew this place existed! Breakfast burritos on point! Will definitely return

Chicharron tacos was pretty good but the beef fajita was a bit dry.Al Pastor taco was okay . Menudo flavor had very good flavor. Service needs lots of improvement.Lady at the counter , was not welcoming and barely made eye contact. She made us feel like we were troublesome. Service is Always part of a good meal. It affects the mood of the dinners. I doubt if we will go back to this place. read more

I really like to see local businesses do well. We finally got a group together to check out this taco place tucked away in the old Kroger shopping center. Here's the good stuff: they are open on Sundays and you can BYOB. We brought frozen daiquiris from down the road. Oh and the barbacoa tacos were good, not overly fatty, very tender , and they didn't skimp on the filling. The not-so-great parts: You order a the counter and they bring your food out on paper plates. Some items had prices listed, some didn't. Very confusing menu to say the least. We got the nachos with fajita meat and while they looked amazing, the chips were beyond stale, like they've been sitting around forever. And the queso was a watery soup. The Duranguesa tacos were so greasy, we never got past the first bite. Pass on these. The camarones a la diabla had zero heat, the sauce was weirdly sweet and watery, like a tomato soup. The rice was fine but bland. And instead of tortillas, it came with two rock hard pieces of toast. Harder than croutons ! Not even their watered down bland salsas could save this dish. Overall nothing our table ordered tasted good. Everything was bland and put together in a lazy way with the worst quality ingredients. Really disappointing experience. For now, I'm not planning on returning. I'll wait to see if other reviewers have a better experience. But for now it's a hard pass. read more

I walked in late on a weeknight and the restaurant was empty but I ordered these three tacos and some Jamaica. The tacos were very good and a pretty good portion for the price. I would probably go back but just for take out. read more

Tired this place out because I always pass it on the way to my parents house and decided to give it a go because it was taco Tuesday. And lo and behold, they had a special on Tuesdays. A 3 taco plate with rice, beans and a drink for less than $10 is a rarity these days but a welcome one. I also decided to ggive the menudo a try because I always try it out if a restaurant has it one their menu. I'm pleased to announce that everything was up to par, no disappointment here. My only issue is that I had not seen the full list of meatsbuntil after I had ordered my tacos or else I would have gone for the chicharrone instead. read more

Very clean spot. Super sweet people. Very friendly. Family vibes. Great menu, lots of variety! Reasonable prices. Food: -ordered the pork street tacos- comes with rice and beans, $9.99. Tacos were flavorful, meat was good, but not sure it was super fresh, had onions and cilantro- the rice was sadly not very flavorful and neither were the beans. I wanted a punch of flavor. It was a miss. -ordered one sopes, but they gave me two, not sure if they charged me- ordered it with steak, but the steak had a different texture, didn't look very appetizing. Tasted ok. -salsa was ok -orange salsa was spicy, needed a little more flavor -green salsa was good but a little more pizazz. -queso was good but thickened up super fast. Happy to try new places, but maybe still working on some flavors and items- They do give lots of side salsas and they were very nice. read more

Love this place. Love the menu and authenticity. The family that runs it obviously cares.

The food is good. We love the street tacos. The service is a little slow, but it's worth the wait. They just opened. The restaurant is clean and has a lot of seating if you went with a large group. The tacos shells are great. They are crispy and have good flavor. The steak tacos are my favorite. The meat is juicy and flavorful. We both love el pastor and was happy to find that it was good. We can't wait to try other street tacos. It's great that they are so close to home. We will definitely consider them every time we don't feel like cooking. It's hard to pass up good street tacos. This is a great addition to the city. We are looking forward to eating here again and hope to make it one of our regular spots. read more

I'm still in the restaurant as I type this just b ex abuse I have to tell people immediately how good it is. This family owned, hole in the wall place is everything. Everything is seasoned to perfection. Generous portions. Authentic. All around love it. I got just the beef taco plate and my boyfriend got the shrimp tacos. Came in for breakfast this morning. We got the Huevos Rancheros platter and a steak and pastor taco. We really enjoyed the Huevos Rancheros but holy cow the tacos were incredible. We just moved to The Colony so we're trying all the places so have only made it here twice. We need to go more often. My husband has ordered Tacos Duranguenses with rice & beans both times. Steak, bacon, onions, jalapenos, & cheese on corn tortillas. He just says they're Delicious! I had the flauta plate the first time. They're fine but there is so much more yum so I won't order them again. This time I had Tacos Alambrados with rice & beans. So good! The chicken is seasoned so well & the onions, jalapenos, & cheese just increase the flavor. Daughter had the Huarache with beef, lettuce, tomato, cheese, sour cream, & beans. She said it was super tasty but was disappointed it didn't come with beans & rice. This time she ordered Tacos Abanil with rice & beans. Steak, lettuce, cheese, & tomato on a lightly grilled tortilla for a chewy crispy texture. They were on point! All our plates came with fresh lime wedges, spicy roja sauce & mild creamy verde sauce. The rice & beans are good but could use a kick they're both a little bland in my opinion so I added some roja sauce. It made them better than good. The menu is posted above the counter where you order. It's easy to read & all prices are clear. Pretty much everything is 10.99-11.99 at this time. The people are super friendly, service is fast, and the food fresh. You can order tacos, gorditas, sopes, etc. individually, too! They have a clean cafe style dining room if you want to eat in. So excited for the newest and closest authentic Mexican cuisine in the area! I pick up an assortment of menu items for the family to try. Now they have the mainstay street tacos, quesadillas, tortas and they have some more unique and authentic offerings. We did a mix of both and I'll throw them some love for being different like a taco alambrados that had chicken, onion, jalapeños, and cheese all perfectly melted together on fresh tortillas. The meats were abundant but could use some more seasoning although I'm a salt whore and benefits from liberal usage of red and green salsas. Out of the chicken, carne asada, and pastor the Al pastor had by far the most flavor sans the trumpo. The owner/chef chatted on the way out and welcomed feedback and to stop back which is always nice! Lots of seating and friendly vibes makes me hope for some longevity and lots of tacos for the area! read more

Everyone was rude to me from the moment I walked in. I was looked at crazy. I felt extremely uncomfortable but I had already drove a distance so I stayed and ordered. The lady at the register was extremely rude and had a condescending attitude. I asked for a small side of pico de gallo and was charged twice with 2 different prices. They added it as a "custom item". 1 dollar for the first and 1.50 for the second. I was overcharged for the tiniest little cup of pico lol. I honestly didn't feel like arguing as I had already had a rough morning so I decided I wasn't going to tip and leave an honest bad review on here. The first time I came everything was much better. The menudo wasn't good and neither was the quesadilla. Highly disappointed by the food and lack of customer service. Definitely won't be back and don't recommend anyone else come here unless they like bland food and being treated like trash! read more

I've visited here a couple of times and ordered enchiladas both kinds the green ones we're way too salty the first time I ordered them and the red ones have no taste. I ordered the green ones with cheese and they hardly had cheese and way too much salsa and very salty. I am Spanish speaking and a friendly person and the lady at the counter it's not friendly at all I even said thank you and she responded nothing back. This restaurant needs to put another person at the front that's a little bit more friendlier to people. I also ordered the nachos on another occasion and the nachos had whole beans in them way too many beans and not enough chicken, yes they give you a big portion but most of it was bean and not enough chicken. It was 8:00 in the evening and they were already cleaning to close which it says they close at 10:00 on Saturday night. I will stick to (Calles Mexico) read more
