The food is outstanding and fresh. The problem the Resturant has is slow service. Not attentive at all.

Antonios Trattoria in the Arthur Ave section of The Bronx was absolutely wonderful. The staff…read morecouldn't have been more friendly, professional, or accommodating. We chose this spot for a family reunion, and they made us feel genuinely welcomed from the moment we walked in. The food was incredible. I had the Pork Chop Scarparo--perfectly cooked and full of amazing flavor. The pasta was spot‑on too and cooked just right. I had the garlic and oil side dish which was simple but delicious. There are plenty of great places in the area, but Antonios definitely deserves a spot on your list. It made our family gathering feel special, and the meal was unforgettable.

THE FOOD ----------------…read more+ Fried Calamari - Very crispy and as you would expect of any good fried calamari appetizer. Came with a small bowl of marinara. + Baked Clams Oreganata - LOTS of flavor. It was savory with the herb- and garlic-infused breadcrumb mixture and baked perfectly. + Chicken Marsala - 2 pieces of flattened and tender sauteed chicken breast with sliced mushrooms all around. Chicken was drowning in a suppppper delicious marsala wine sauce. Unfortunately, it was not served with any pasta to soak up the sauce. + Fruitti Di Mare - LOTS of delicious seafood - clams, mussels, calamari, shrimp - in marinara sauce. All of the seafood sat on a bed of spaghetti. + Kids' Spaghetti and Meatball - Solid spaghetti and meatball and what you would expect for a kid portion. + Kids' Chicken Parm with Ziti - DELICIOUS parm and sauce. One can argue that this was actually enough of a portion for an adult! + Nutella Pizza - Soooooo gooood. Super warm, thin, savory, a little sweet. Honestly, the best part of our meal. + Menu was traditional Italian and had a lotttttt of delicious foods that we wanted to try, but we only had so much space. THE SERVICE ------------------- + Food came out pretty quickly. - Waiters didn't give us much attention and when we were handed the bill, the waiter just kind of dropped it on the table and walked on, which was strange. THE SURROUNDINGS ------------------------------- + 2 adjacent dining rooms. Main dining room includes a bar and TVs, while the 2nd dining room is more spacious. = Entire bar area was filled with diners and folks watching college football. - Street parking only and can be challenging to find a good spot during weekend dinner hours. RANDOM OBSERVATIONS -------------------------------------- = Walked in with a party of 8 at 5:30 PM on an Autumn Saturday evening and were accommodated with a table immediately. = Was pretty crowded on a Saturday evening and there was a wait for some folks who arrived around 6-7 PM, but no wait before 6 PM.

Çka Ka Qëllu has been on my radar for a while now. I first heard about it several years ago when…read morethey first opened in the Arthur Ave neighborhood - standing out as a traditional Albanian restaurant amongst the sea of Italian eateries. Fast forward to the present day, and they have gained considerable attention. The restaurant has made the NYT's Top 100 Restaurants in NYC list for the past 4 years, they have expanded to two (soon three) other locations, and is a favorite among the social media and celeb crowd (this is allegedly one of Dua Lipa's favorite restaurants in the city). That being said, we thought it would be a great spot to celebrate a family member's birthday - so I booked a table and off we went. Çka Ka Qëllu is located on Hughes adjacent to the back entrance of the Arthur Ave Retail Market. The restaurant is gorgeous - it's pretty spacious with three main dining rooms. The decor is a showstopper in itself - the exposed stone walls coupled with the abundance of artwork and old world accents placed throughout the dining area make this seem more like a museum than a restaurant. The ethnic music that is piped throughout the restaurant completes the feel. I honestly couldn't stop looking around. There menu is pretty expansive - most of the items I had not heard of before, but it's also approachable as they spell it out for you in the description what each dish is. We were a party of seven, so to make things easy we aligned to share everything. My brother and I decided to take lead and order items from each section. We decided to start with the ajvar, sausage dip, and tarator. These were all delicious; essentially dips, they all had great flavor and were paired with hot crusty bread mmmm. We then got a bunch of other dishes: leçenik, burek, fili, fasule with smoked meat, mantia, mazë e zier, and a shop salad. As with the dips, everything here was delicious. It's hard to pick the standouts because everything was so good - honest food, full of flavor and depth. Okay you twisted my arm - if I had to choose, my favorites were the burek and the mazë e zier. I love a good burek, and this one was top drawer. The pull on the mazë e zier was out of this world, yet it was easy to maneuver with great flavor. We ended the meal with one of their grilled dishes - namely the mixed meat combo. We chose five meats and they paired them with some vegetables and potato. At risk of sounding like a broken record - this was delicious as well. Service was awesome - everyone was welcoming and the food came out at a good pace. Overall, Çka Ka Qëllu is an absolute yes - the food, the decor, and the service were all aces. The hype is real and they deserve all the accolades they have received. Goes without saying, but I would definitely return for another meal - take me back now!

Hence, by no means I want to reduce this rich cuisine to just grilled meats. But it needs to be said that this region takes grilling to the next level. The mixed grill platter at Cakor represents a typical Balkan Grill Platter. There are places where you can get Sweetbread, Rocky Mountain Oysters, & even Heart in the platter, but what you get at Cakor is sufficient and outstanding. I always like chasing it down with IVI's Peach Soda.

We were planning to go out for a traditional meal but were surprised to find an Albanian-Italian restaurant. Having never had Albanian food before, we stolled in. It's gorgeous, with traditional decorations and street signs in Albanian. It definitely leaves an impression visually. Unfortunately, I can't say that I enjoyed the cuisine much. Most of the food was prepared in a flavored oil that I didn't care for. I got the mixed grill, which was a combo of meats (liver, kidney, qofta (similar to a meatball), two types of sausage, and baby lamb). My favorite thing by far was the qofta, which was nicely spiced and packed a tangy, meaty punch. Although I typically like organs (particularly liver), I found the kidneys too tough to be palatable, and the liver just didn't have a lot of flavor. The sausages were fine (although I didn't care for the spice blend in one of them). And I didn't realize baby lamb is different than regular lamb (which I loooove). It was a bit stringier, and was drenched in the oil that I didn't like (my kids, however, devoured it). Speaking of, my kids stuck with pasta. My son devoured his fettucini alfredo. We all enjoyed the light and fresh Cakor House pasta, which came with fresh tomatoes and chicken. Ultimately, I think Albanian food may not be my style. Buy I enjoyed the adventure (and especially, the decor!).

This place should be renamed "Healthy Choice, Horrible Experience." The owner is hands-down the…read moremost unprofessional, arrogant, and clueless person I've ever dealt with in any business--ever. He has no idea how to run a place, no idea how to speak to customers, and absolutely zero interest in providing even the bare minimum level of service. I asked to remove TWO ingredients from a smoothie and replace them with ONE. Not only is that a downgrade, it's basic logic. But somehow, he decided I needed to pay extra--for LESS. When I questioned it (politely, mind you), he gave me attitude like I was trying to scam him out of a Ferrari. So I tried ordering a different smoothie. Turns out, one of the ingredients wasn't even available--and instead of offering a swap, a discount, or literally any sign of customer care, he just shrugged. No solution, no apology. Just that blank, smug look like I was the one who needed to figure it out. It's like he's running a business by accident. Zero common sense, zero accountability, and a customer service approach straight out of a nightmare. He acts like he's allergic to feedback, and the second you ask a question, he talks down to you like you're the problem. And the worst part? He's the face of the business. The person greeting people. The one taking orders. Honestly, that alone is the biggest red flag. He shouldn't be anywhere near customers--or a cash register. Or a blender. Or anything that requires basic logic or human interaction. I don't care how "healthy" the food is--nothing is worth the stress, the eye rolls, the condescending tone, or the feeling of being completely ignored and disrespected. You want a smoothie? Go anywhere else. You want to be treated like garbage while overpaying for it? Congrats--you've found your place. Save your money, your sanity, and your taste buds--this place is a smoothie shop run by someone who couldn't blend common sense if his life depended on it.
