My family has enjoyed the taco truck and we are so happy they have a brick and mortar to visit anytime we want. The tacos are fantastic ! Another family favorite are the carne asada loaded fries, it's a little more on the pricy side but perfect to share or have a little extra to eat for leftovers as it heats up nicely in an air fryer; testament to the quality. Tried a new taco spot located in Puna Kai recently, and while I love supporting local businesses--especially new ones--this visit was a bit of a mixed bag. I ordered one fish taco and one shrimp taco. Both looked great at first glance, but I found myself wishing for more substance and flavor. The shrimp taco didn't have quite enough protein to feel satisfying, and the fish taco, while fresh, lacked seasoning and punch. There was a lot of tortilla compared to the actual filling, which made the portions feel a little underwhelming. That said, the counter service was friendly and welcoming--the young woman taking orders had great energy. The space itself is clean and casual, with red, green, and white metal tables giving it a modern, festive vibe. One thing to note: everything is served in to-go boxes, even if you're dining in. Not a deal-breaker, but it does take away a bit from the dine-in experience. Since they're still new, I'll definitely give them another try--maybe the menu will evolve and the flavors will find their stride. I'm all for rooting for the new kids on the block. read more

We have eaten a dozen times or more. The portions are fair and the prices are a bit mixed. The food taste is also mixed. Tacos are the best deal in this place. The chicken and fish tacos have the best flavor. Burritos are not a good value, just not enough content to justify the cost with protein. We generally only get the chicken or fish tacos because all other proteins are just way too salty. It's unfortunate too, because it has a good flavor. Staff are friendly, and dine-in is clean and orderly. We do enjoy eating here if we stick to less salty proteins. Poncho's tacos is better food for less when they are in town. read more

I used to go here a lot but now every time I get the carne asada burrito it's always way too salty. I'm not the only one saying that too. I have friends and others saying the same thing. Tastes pretty good! I do have to admit I lived in the Bay Area for a while so admittedly all Mexican food is forever downhill from that for me. Expensive!!! Their burritos are bare bones with only rice and beans and a very marginal amount of pico salsa for $10. If you want a full burrito with meat, cheese, guacamole and sour creme its like $7 extra with tax. I tried to add all the fixings like this but was still very underwhelmed by the amount that they gave me. Some were hardly there! Around $18 with tax for a "super" burrito! And I second a different review for the Hilo location that says they use an unauthentic shredded Mexican cheese blend. Like a Safeway type Mexican cheese blend or something like that. Chips taste good! Workers seemed nice. I think Panchos flavor profiles are a little more rich and complex. read more

The tacos are big and tasty. Drinks are mostly $4 each. You have to pay for chips. We had to wait over a half hour for one burrito and one taco. Long lines. Blasting Mexican music made it impossible to talk. You had to dig around to find a fork and knife. There were no napkins, just a paper towel roll on the counter for everyone to use. Wow! The food is to die for!!! The Quesa Birria Plate was enough to feed both my husband and myself. Both the Chicken and Carne Wet Burritos are very big and packed full with meat. One Wet Burrito filled both of us, and there was enough left for my husband to eat for lunch the next day. They don't skimp on meat!!! The staff and owner aim to please. The restaurant is very clean. The atmosphere is fun and bright. I call in our orders while shopping and am able to pick them up within 15 minutes. Prices may seem a bit steep but the portions are nearly twice what you get at competitor restaurants, and far more authentic!
