I've eaten here many many times, and to be totally honestly I'm always undewhelmed by this place. I should mention that I spent years in the S.F. Bay Area California so all Mexican food will forever be downhill from there. For me you will never top a Mission style burrito. IYKYK. ;) Although the food always looks great there are elements that taste like nothing. The salsa tastes watery and bland. Same for the guac. Nothing. The stuff I make at home is way better. The crema, too. Its like they just dont season it enough or something. Its too bad because all the elements for it to be amazing are there. I think its great there is a keto option for the tacos. I also think the price is pretty reasonable for what you get. read more

Simply the best Mexican food on the east side of the Big Island. The variety, the authenticity, the generosity of portions, the fact that they have a breakfast menu and a lunch menu, this family owned business,, similar to SISI in Orchidland, but with greater variety is unmatched. You will have an excellent experience every single time you visit.. read more

I couldn't believe that they have Mulitas. They were so good. It's the only place in Hilo side that serves them, and they are Ono.

Just happened upon this truck and loved it. My kid is vegetarian and said it was the best vegetarian taco he's ever had. Wonderfully delicate taco shells. 10/10 my kid calls it the best tacos he has had months later read more

"you're still the one that I love, the only one I dream of..." taco-wise last month was difficult because the truck schedule was on a break. But they are back! (I hope all went smoothly with the surgery!! *Sign up for the email newsletter to follow the truck locations, news & menu*). My husband tried the carnitas torta last week and loved it, he was talking about just how good the salsa was. 100%! I know how important the meats are of course, but gosh darn the salsas are what takes the food over the top! read more

Hands down the best tacos ever! I love their Al Pastor and their Birrias!! The owners & their ohana are so nice & sweet! Mahalo Panchos!!

$12 breakfast burrito. 90%rice and beans, maybe 1 egg, very sloppy ( so your not eating it on the go) cashier seemed annoyed I was placing an order, even more annoyed I asked what was in the breakfast burrito. Shame, been looking for a good breakfast burrito, this wasn't it. read more

So lucky to have stumbled upon this place because it actually should be a place you come to purposely in Pahoa. Why? It's really delicious, freshly made to order, and affordable! We ordered the mulitas and the mole chicken enchiladas plate and thoroughly enjoyed every bite. I know mole was a special item on the menu and glad it was available. I liked the outdoor seating area where you get to talk to locals in area. They love the food so much they come weekly. Next time you find yourself in Pahoa, make sure to find Panchos! read more

Big menu everything looks delicious, hard to choose. Nice vegetarian and vegan selections, always appreciate that! Long line so go early, but once your order is placed, only about 5-10 minute wait. It's in a parking lot, hot, with a small canopy cover to wait after ordering. Very good and satisfying lunch!! read more

Review #18 for 2021. A Latina friend from Los Angeles that was visiting said that Panchos is the best Mexican food she's had in years. I questioned if it was context specific because Hilo doesn't have much Mexican food, and she said that the food is objectively good. I tried Panchos birria with her (my first time having birria), and I liked it a lot. She said what made it good was the many layers of flavors. I got it again for my family, and they liked it too, but be warned that it's kinda spicy (which I like, but my mom couldn't handle). Panchos is in Hilo on Fridays starting at 10:30am in the HPM parking lot facing the highway. I suggest pre-ordering on their website on Thursdays because the line gets long, and once they're out of something, they're done. That's food truck style! I've also had pastor nachos and barbacoa burrito especial. Both were huge and delicious! Great deals for $9 each. Their $2 tacos are super tasty and a steal. Tried the esquites (like elotes in a bowl), and it was super yummy. I'd order everything again, and I want to try other things too. Service is great, and I didn't have any issues over the three times I visited. I'd say that Panchos is the best Mexican food on the Big Island! I'm jealous that I don't live in Pahoa so I could have Panchos more often. Once a week will have to do for now! read more

Delicious is the best word to describe Panchos taco truck! So very happy to have found them. Their steak was full of flavor and grease, but that greasy steak gave my burrito so much flavor. Their tacos were delicious also. We will be back! I highly suggest their carnitas and carne asada. We will be trying more soon to come. read more

Everything we tried was delicious! There is always a crowd and a line but it goes by pretty fast. There's been times that we've gone toward the later part of the day when they've run out of certain items but that's what happens when you're serving up yummy dishes!!! We love the mulitas, elote torta and off course the birria. They also have horchatas and other refreshing drinks - a strawberry and mango one (sorry I can't remember what they are called ) customer service is always good. We usually go when they are at Pāhoa village. I've also have ordered lunch when they were at Kai store too. We'll continue to go back again and again. read more

Panchos Tacos - Keto Tocos - Tacos Near Me - Pahoa, Hawaii

This mobile food truck just got upgraded to a trailer. They spend Tues/Wed in Pahoa and Thurs/Fri in Hilo 10:30-3. They always have a line. Must be doing well if you can open only for lunch. So far have tried the burritos which are amazing. Just beware the especial vs the "super" which is the size of your arm! They toast the outside wrap just like they do back in SF mission district which I loved. Can't stand cold cheese on a burrito. I also tried the "sincronizadas" which was fun to say. It's a quesadilla but with roasted peppers and choice of meat. I got the steak. Loved it! I also like their Chile verde pork. Salsas we're good. Chips not needed. Get sodas or water out of cooler next to stand. There are some tables and tenting outside Pahoa location. Park past the fence but they are serious about closing time. This is a regular place for most locals. Family owned business. read more

In general I rarely give 5 stars for a restaurant review. It has to be really special. And Panchos fits the bill! I've been eating their offerings for 6 years now and it's far and away the best Mexican food I've eaten on the Big Island. The only drawback is that there are hundreds of people who feel the same way and the line is always long. Be patient, you will love it. read more

I don't understand all the positive reviews. Makes me wonder if the owner is deleting negative reviews. Positives: salsa is spicy and perfect Two of the three meats I tried were juicy: pollo verde and barbacoa That's it for positives, so 1 Star for salsa, 1 for 2 juicy meats, 1 for being open and masking during COVID. But: Still too expensive. $2 for a taco might seem cheap but when they're so small you have to eat 5 to be full, a ten dollar lunch isn't cheap. Most of the meat (I had pollo verde, barbacoa and carne asada) was too salty. Pollo and barbacoa were juicy, but the tacos overall totally lack the real Mexican onion and cilantro because they put a tiny amount on each and it's just not nearly enough. All you can taste is MEAT, as if they're not seasoning properly (except for too much salt). Had to ask for pickled carrots/peppers..."Oh yes, we have pickled onions, here"...then getting about an ounce of pickled onions for TEN tacos. Got only one small salsa for 5 tacos and had to ask for more. Felt like Oliver Twist. More cilantro, please? More onions, please? More salsa, please? Pickled peppers?? read more

The prices you cannot beat for what tastes like a home cooked meal! $10 for a chilequiles plate with chicken, $12 for 3 al pastor tacos with beans and rice, and $3 for a cup of esquites! Seriously! Cannot beat these prices! Flavor! Ughh the spices and fresh ingredients is a flavor bomb in your mouth that makes you wanna keep eating again and again! And ordering more than you can really eat happens! Lol The wait time isn't bad at all even with a really long line they still get your food out really quick! And the people are so nice! read more

Visiting HI from Los Angeles and believe me I've had plenty of tacos in my life and the ones here are very very delicious. If you're looking for the best authentic Mexican food on the big island, may I suggest Panchos Tacos! I've tried spots in kona and hilo, but overall, Pancos is the best hands down. The service is excellent, and the food is out in a timely manner. I know guys who drive from hamakua side all the way to pahoa just to get their Pancho craving fix. So if you're looking for Mexican food and you want the best, hit up Panchos and tell them I sent ya! You get taxed 15% extra lol jk on a serious note, Panchos is where it's at! read more

It's not easy to find really good Mexican food here on the Big Island. Especially if you're born in Los Angeles like I am. However, Pancho's is pretty close as they come to authentic. Most of the other Mexican places on the island are just ok... except for the soft mole carnitas taco's at Temple Bar which are pretty damn good. I decided to venture out of the office for lunch and realized it was Friday which meant Panchos would be in tow. Surprisingly there was no line today. And they had not sold out of carnitas yet. I ordered the taco plate. 3 tacos (mix & match ok) with rice and beans. Added sour cream but no cilantro or raw onions. i know i know. Anyway, the beans were very good, the rice was ok... not like the Mexican i'm used to but pretty good. The soft tacos were really good. All for $10!! If you have a chance to be in Hilo and near the parking lot of HPM on a Friday, make sure to stop by. The Good: Pretty authentic Mexican food The Bad: Only on Friday's Chances I'll be back: I think I'm going to make this my Friday lunch ritual. read more
