Great food coming from a small trailer! I stood in line for about 10 minutes to get my hands on one of the best green papaya salads I've had in a long time. My salad was made to order using fresh local ingredients. I ordered it "Thai spicy" with avocado and peanuts. Just the right amount of heat for me but may be a little much for others. We actually got their food at the Hilo Farmers Market but it was so good I wanted to leave a review! Everything is made to order, and you can see them doing it in their truck. At first the avocado looked a little light in the summer rolls but as you continue to eat to, you'll notice it's actually there throughout the whole roll, just not as apparent as in that first bite. Even thought the rolls are light, they are quite large and filling. The nutty dipping sauce goes perfectly too. The green papaya salad was definitely quite spicy, so if you don't have a high spice tolerance make sure to get a lower level than you expect. Still, even though it was so painful to eat, it was SO good! We decided to get peanuts with it which I thought was a great addition because while I'm sure getting the salad alone is good too, they give you a LOT so the peanuts were nice to break up the texture and flavor. Best green papaya salad I've had anywhere, for a long time. Medium was plenty spicy for anyone but die hards, in my opinion. My teen son who likes hot sauce on almost everything almost struggled with the heat a couple times. My wife found it perfectly spiced. The star of the show was the avacado rolls for I think $6. The peanut sauce is so good. For a couple looking for a light meal/snack as they make their way through food options of the market, I recommend the salad and roll ($15 total) to share. For a couple looking for a great takeaway option for a nearby beach or park for a slightly more filling meal, I recommend each get a roll and they share a papaya salad ($21 total, plus drinks). The pumpkin curry with chicken is so tasty and pairs perfectly with the warm sticky rice. Its the bomb! The summer rolls are delicate and fresh as well, the peanut sauce is one of the best I've ever had. This is my favorite place to eat at the Hilo Farmer's Market! We have tried them all on our many trips to the Big Island the Papaya salad with avo cannot be beat for taste and valu. It is large and can be shared for a snack or side. It is almost too much for a main. I love mango and sticky rice but have yet to have room to eat a dessert while there. This year I will take it "too go". I'm surprised that this site says they are only open on Wednesday. They have always been open when we have been there.
