Lengua taco(3) al pastor taco(2.50)
Victor G.

Tacos El Rey usually has excellent food but today the food was bland. service was quick, no lines. offerings: tacos, burritos, quesadillas, hot dogs/links, hamburgers, nachos, eats: lengua taco @3, al pastor taco 2.50 -plenty of proteins but bland. salsa wasn't apparent -carrots, radish, jalepenos and fried tortilla chips aplenty. 3.5 stars. 3 stars quality, 4 stars quantity.

Enchiladas verde plate - good, but very little rice and beans given
Molly L.

The food here was actually good but they were not prepared for long lines of people, since they took a good 15 m-25 minutes to take our order and then get the food to their customers. They were outside of the shops at Emeryville mall and lines formed but they could not really accommodate the lines and thus very slow. Additionally, they put very little rice and beans in the plate, not even filling up the box as it should be. Other than that though, the rice and beans were flavorful but there just should have been more of it. The only options for enchiladas was verde, which was fine since the sauce was good. However, the corn tortillas themselves were difficult to chew and thus overcooked.

Steak quesadilla DELICIOUS

One of the best steak quesadilla I ever had! 13 bucks and big portion, flavored so dam good! Why not 5*s , only because steak I like medium rare but this was still very good

Being a San Francisco native means that my knowledge of taqueria delights is extensive, attending High School in The Mission definitely classifies me as burrito elitist, a taco snob, quesadilla - connoisseur, if you will. So, I'm super picky about my taqueria food and I won't try or trust just any burrito, (in fact there are only 3 places that I'll trust for Mexican food in the east Bay and they still do not compare to my beloved Poncho Villa). I greatltly appreciate Tacos el Rey, the ladies that work in this truck make the most consistently great quality tacos, burritos, tostadas and the like

Taco truck on 40th street. Across from Target.

I had a super burrito al pastor( spicy pork) One of the best burritos I had in a while that was al pastor. Al Pastor had a kick to it but wasn't over powering it had a little sweetness as well. Burrito filled me up for the whole day. Came with chips and fixings like pickled jalapeños and carrots.

Amazing burrito!

Great local taco truck. A little pricey, but made up for with generous portions and friendly staff.

People were definitely mad my hubby cut the line... but, when you're hangry, why not pay a little extra... It's either I was super hungry or the cook is back from hiatus... but the Carnitas were perfect! Crispy on the edges. Juicy on the inside. And a tingle of heat on the lips. Just the right amount of onions and cilantros for an added freshness. So so good! Took a bite, and my eyes rolled to the back of my head. Instant salivation! How I've missed these tacos. No wonder the lines been long lately... "THE. COOK. IS. BACK!" Well, that's the line we say when the tacos are extra good... Agua Frescas always satisfies the thirst. Grande is a must! Can't may food without a refreshing drink.

But since then and nowadays they have tougher competition that I prefer to go to over them and recently started to develop a hate and love relationship here. It used to be my die hard go to taco truck. This truck for me makes delicious carnitas burritos and pollo tacos. And a sleeper is the al pastor burrito and suadero tacos. That al pastor isn't made from the trompo but the seasoning and juiciness of their version in the burrito is what makes it one of the best burrito options on there if you haven't tried it. Carnitas burritos is super delicious because you get that nice crispiness of the fried tender pork with the rice, cheese and sour cream. I like to ask for onions, cilantro and tomato in mines for variety and freshness to cut the heaviness of the fats and dairy. Tacos I normally would get or recommend is the Carnitas, Pollo, Cabeza, Suadero, and Asada. Carnitas are as delicious as explained with the burrito. Pollo or known as chicken tacos are super tender and juicy. It's also very flavorful, and one of my favorite chicken tacos to get here because most places don't make chicken very well and are usually very dry. The cabeza is super tender and a great option. Suadero just like the asada is just a better version of the asada cut. It's packed with more flavor and seasoning than the asada and slightly more tender which is why I prefer it to the regular steak. I tend to find the asada more dry and sometimes tough. Recently the pricing doesn't reflect on the fairness of the portion size. $4 tacos but the meats aren't as packed. Felt like they started to skimp because of rising costs but has been happening before then. $15 burrito but the sizing isn't as filling as it used to be. I started to see more rice than meat. They've also started to be very stingy with a huge attitude especially the gentleman that works on the pick up station when asking for extra pickled veggies, limes and salsa. And it happens every time for the past several years now. For example he gave me 2 limes, 4 pieces of sliced pickled carrots, 2 slices of pickled jalapenos, 3 radishes, and 1 rojo salsa for an order of a super burrito and 7 tacos. When I asked for extras the gentleman gave me an attitude and said he already did and won't give more. Only reason I still go here is because it's close to home and if my favorite spots for tacos are closed for the night.

The drink came out promptly and was simple but well constructed. Service was good and with care. The vibe is great, and the food definitely delivers on flavor. We tried quite a bit--the first Friday taco, chicken sandwiches, Mexican hot dog, and asada tacos--and everything was honestly amazing. It was so good that we came back the next day before leaving town just to have it again. Service was about an 8/10. The only reason I didn't rate it higher was due to one moment that didn't sit right with me. I watched a waitress bring out fries to a guest, the guest started eating them, and then she came back to say it was a mistake and took them away after he was already halfway through. That just didn't feel very service-oriented. In a situation like that, it would have been better to acknowledge the mistake and let the guest keep the fries on the house. Taking back half-eaten food felt like poor judgment. That said, the overall experience was still very positive. Great atmosphere, great flavors, and definitely a spot I'd recommend checking out if you're in the area.

There's a great variety of food trucks lined up in front of the Oakland museum. I'm always partial to the Southern Comfort restaurant. I've had their po'boys, shrimp, and heavenly seasoned fries. But I also love when Señor Sisig and anything that sells ice cream make an appearance. Customer service is always awesome and as fast as they can with the amount of people that show up. I got over my fear when Shakeel, the Market Ambassador at that time convince me to come. Even the other Market Ambassador Elon kept me company making sure I was OK at the market. I will admit every Friday Night I am at Off the Grid outside the Oakland Museum of California. I will admit I overdid it by checking out the exhibits at the museum weekly where I made a friend Preston, the Emcee at the Oakland Museum of California. Over 10 different food trucks to chose from. The highest food trucks they had at the market was up to 20 during the summer time. It is worth coming down to Oakland Museum to see all the different food trucks they have. I will admit I miss the past Market supervisor that ran the market (Adam, Alex, Paul, Henley, whomever ran the market that I can not remember their names). Ben, the current supervisor got this market running smoothly. I been enjoying the market. What makes this market to go to on Friday Night compared to going to Fort Mason is discount on museum tickets. You have a museum to go to while getting food from the food trucks. They also have a garden where children can run around in. The live music at the Oakland Museum of California is amazing. It is worth checking it out. This is the market to check out Friday Night.
