The music was bumping, people were lined up and genuinely excited to order, and the whole setup felt lively in the best possible way. You could tell right away this was a place people really love. This spot came highly recommended to me by friends, and now I fully understand why. Before heading out, I called ahead to ask whether they could accommodate my girlfriend's seafood allergy, and Kemi, the owner, picked up and immediately made us feel taken care of. When we got there, Victor, the onsite chef, and the rest of the staff were so friendly, thoughtful, and careful about everything. That kind of hospitality means a lot, and they handled it with so much kindness and ease. And the food? Ridiculous. In the best way. I had the egusi, plantains, and fufu, and I finished it in what had to be about seven minutes flat. Honestly, I'm still shocked there weren't bite marks on the container. That food was so good it nearly had me questioning my table manners. Every bite was comforting, rich, and deeply satisfying. What I loved most was that Jollof Kitchen felt like more than just a food stop. It felt like one of those places that reminds you how powerful food can be -- how it brings people together, lifts the energy of a whole block, and turns a night out into something memorable. I'll absolutely be back every chance I get. Safe to say this first time trying Nigerian food, this is now my favorite Nigerian food spot by far. Amazing food, amazing people, amazing energy. So grateful for the care they showed us and very, very excited to come back hungry.

But I know things have changed--food trucks have come a long way since then, and now you can find some top-notch dishes being served up, not just here in the East Bay, but across the country. Take this Mexican food truck, for instance. I hadn't heard of it before, and I probably wouldn't have if it weren't for the countless hours I've spent enjoying too many beers at Ghost Town Brewing over in West Oakland, off Adeline St. It's not a part of town I usually hang out in, but GTB is cool, and Taco Panzón... well, read on. Usually, I don't grab food when I'm out drinking, but that changed once Taco Panzón showed up. After the first time, there was a second, and then, "Hey, Taco Panzón is here again!" Now, I'd say 8 times out of 10, if their grey truck is parked outside, I'm ordering something. I started with a veggie burrito, but over time I've worked my way through all their options--carnitas, asada, pollo, and chicharrón. Every one of them is excellent. Each burrito comes with a choice of mild (green) or spicy (red) sauce, with pickled jalapeños on the side if you want some extra kick. Their tacos are just as tasty--I've tried a few different meat options there too, along with their tortas and nachos. Speaking of the nachos, they come loaded with meat (if you want), beans, cheese, jalapeños, and salsa. I've only ever had them fully loaded, and they're amazing every single time. The prices are a bit higher than some other authentic Mexican spots I've been to, but the food pairs perfectly with a GTB beer. The service is fast, friendly, and they accept cash, card, and Apple Pay.

It's prime location is near the freeway ramps and the Port of Oakland. If you drove down West Grand, you might of seen this truck and wondered..... is the food is good? The answer is YES! The Taco Panzon offers a simple, no-frills menu. Along with friendly service, it's great for a quick meal or snack while driving. Recently I ordered two Chicken Tacos Deluxe (spicy). They were served with avocado, crispy veggies, and a whole jalapeno. Only $4 each, for fresh and tasty food. Menu items incl: tacos, torta, nachos, burrito, and quesadilla. All orders are to-go. When I was there I didn't see any tables setup.

Not only did we strike up a conversation with Carolina (the owner) but man she was just wonderful. It is so refreshing to see someone so cheerful and passionate about their job. She was wonderful when it came to asking us what we were looking for. We decided to get several options - apple empanada, chicken, ham and cheese, and veggies. Ham and cheese 10/10 - the amounts of ham added to the empanada was surprising. Usually, I find it hard to get enough filling but it was just enough. Veggie 9/10 - spinach, corn, squash, mushroom. The seasoning on this was amazing, and before I knew it I was more than halfway through it. Apple empanada - was a nice little treat. Omg! They have Peruvian beer and I love that for me because it's delicious, and also very uncommon! My only regret is not getting more empanadas (you can get a pack to go that is frozen), because they had some many options.

Open air, a mix of food trucks, people hanging out, dogs everywhere, and that easy San Francisco energy where you can show up however you are and it fits. It never feels like a production, just a good place to land. We have eaten our way through a decent chunk of the trucks at this point, and that is half the fun. One day it is something messy and indulgent, the next it is lighter, but it always hits. Grabbing a drink, finding a spot at the picnic tables, and slowly settling in as the place fills up is kind of the rhythm. It is social without being overwhelming, lively without being chaotic. What keeps us coming back is how consistent it feels in the best way. It is easy, flexible, and always a good time whether you stay for an hour or lose an entire afternoon there. It is the kind of spot that turns into a routine before you even realize it, and honestly, we are not mad about it.

Beyond that, the food and drinks are all food truck based. They are all quite good, and there's a wide variety of items. This also means a good variety for folks with different dietary needs, because they are mostly picking their own food. I have always enjoyed my time here, whether it's on company dime or if I'm just hanging out with friends. I do wish that there are more heaters around for the colder days but that's just life in the bay! It can be kind of cold and foggy all seasons here, so if you have a solid group of folks I'd recommend reserving a spot with a fire pit. One more note: parking can be tough. You either have to circle around for street parking, or rideshare here.
