Huge hat tip to MaMa E's for the Domestic Violence Awareness fundraiser they participated in today…read more(October 6, 2023) at Option, Inc. in Hobbs, NM! While my chicken fried steak was just a little bit overcooked and hard to slice into with the provided plastic knife, it was still Southern-style delicious with the cream gravy, mashed potatoes, a fresh roll, green beans with real bacon bits, and a huge brownie on the side with a bottled water ($15). The owner was such a friendly, generous person. She was outside her food truck - not trailer - during this lunchtime event talking to folks waiting in line. Her employees/helpers were very amicable too. I've always heard great things about this food truck, but never had the opportunity to visit it. So glad I did. MaMa E's was established in 2018. Their motto is "where you can taste love in the grub." That's for sure! Their setup was for a large group in downtown Hobbs, so many tickets were pre-sold, but their food truck was nice and clean inside and out - I snooped! Lol. I would definitely return to an event where MaMa E was catering. Thanks, ma'am!

La Esperanza Meat Market on the south side of Hobbs, New Mexico, is 3 stars for me…read more Before heading to a middle school football game, my oldest daughter and I popped in here on October 6, 2026, to get some game time snacks. I might come back again, but I have lowered my standards. First, it felt a bit dingy. Trashy parking lot. Unpainted lot lines. Misplaced and unlabeled items everywhere. Then there was a puddle of water with a wet floor cone in the produce area. It befuddles me when stores do this... no urgency to clean or fix the matter. Lastly, I do not speak Spanish well and not a single employee tried speaking English to me. I got by. I just guess I will ask them or another customer for help (¿hablas inglés?) or use an app next time. Most items, though, were much lower priced as far as today's inflation rates go... 16-ounce Monster $2.29, Texas Roasting Co. peanuts $1.49, Maria's cookies (4.9 oz) $1.39, and Zombie Takis (9.9 oz) $4.39.

They had a number system going on but it was still chaotic nonetheless. It was very busy. The meat prices were a bit higher then the usual. I also noticed that a lot of other items were overpriced. We ended up buying grilling meat, flour tortillas, some avocados, sweet bread, and drinks. The sweet bread was surprisingly good and tasted like it had just been made. Employees weren't the greatest and didn't interact with us at all, not even the cashier. The one big NO NO here is that the inside is dirty. Flies everywhere and empty boxes thrown onto the floors. Everything was well worn out and the floors were disgusting. This place needs a deep deep cleaning. I felt like I was shopping at a dirty warehouse. Yuck. Parking is hectic and people were driving in it like it was a freeway.. don't think al be back.
