These tacos were ok. Was at an event and saw that they had set up for the day. I made my way on over and was surprised at all the selection of meats that they had. I decided to go with the #11. It consisted of four grilled chicken tacos, two sides, and a canned soda for $11. I then also ordered three steak tacos for a friend. I said yes to the cilantro and onion on all. For my sides I had decided I wanted rice and beans, since it was listed on the menu. Beans is what I said first and the girl said they didn't have any. Okay, so then I said I wanted rice and chips and she then tells me they have no rice. Ummmmm.. okay. The sides are kinda random and I didn't want whatever else they had. So I went with chips and avocado. They should maybe have a sign up stating that not all sides listed are available.. I waited about 20 minutes for my food to be ready. She bagged it up and called me up as it was ready for me to pick up. We sat down, got a bite in and the chicken was dry. I found myself pouring a ton of salsa on top. She gave me three different colored salsas and they were all hotttt. The steak tacos were ok. The sides were mixed up and my friend ended up getting the avocado I had ordered. (It was only a slice) I ended up receiving two sides of super salty af chips. The cashier wasn't friendly and I was about to walk away after I had stood in front of the ordering window and she hadn't acknowledged me. Paid $20 for four chicken tacos, three steak tacos, salty chips, a slice of avocado, and a canned soda. Kinda pricey if you ask me.

Very convenient and fast service. The tastes good and you get plenty of it. The meal was well prepared and packaged well.

Vaquero Taquero Mucho - Extra side order of consomme broth de birria & red spicy salsa (11/16/2023)

I was on the verge of getting sicker and sicker by the minute on 11/16/2023…read more My heart was set on birria. The trusty Yelp app lead me to Vaquero Taquero Mucho which I had recently bookmarked. They offered $7.99 delivery through delivery.com which was available via Yelp. That delivery price next to a $2.95 service charge was steep, but I was desperate because I felt like absolute garbage and I rarely take medicine when I'm down. I like to sweat it out with spicy food, cold wet rags, Vicks VapoRub - & now that I'm older - a strong, delicous homemade hot toddy! When I pushed the order through I got a text message at 1:07 saying they were swamped and would be late. The app even said it would be delivered between 1:44-2:14PM. I'm a numbers gal so bear with me... I thought I had time for a nice long needed nap. Nope. I submitted the order at 12:44PM. A nice lady with a smile on her face rang my doorbell at 1:25PM. My order arrived perfect and packed neatly with no messes that I've experienced from other birria places (not in Hobbs because I know of only two others). The broth, also known as consomme broth de birria, was not quite as flavorful as I have had, yet, it was good. I ordered an extra cup ($2.69) because I love to drink that stuff when I've got sinus congestion. The shining star was the Mulitas de Birria ($14.19) with sliced limes and extra onions and cilantro on the side. All four mulitas were still amazingly piping hot - and their brick and mortar is clear on the other side of town! The tortillas still had a slight crispiness to them. They did not skimp on the meat. It was moutwatering good with the green salsa, but that red spicy salsa - that's where it's at. They threw in a few of the cutest, smallest tortilla chips I've every had. They were well-salted. I knew I wouldn't get enough salsa because I never do, so I ordered an extra cup of that red spicy salsa ($4.19). Also, I ordered two jalapeños toreados ($1.58) on the side. Can't wait to be 100% again so I can check out this place in the flesh. Of course I've driven by. It's small and looks kind of dive-ish with bright colors on the outside. My kind of Mexican restaurant.

Let me start by saying it took a bit to find Vaquero Taquero Mucho and once I found it I debated…read moregoing elsewhere, but I am glad I went in. I wasn't sure what to get, but Jacky, who was very welcoming, suggested their Plato Mulias Birria. The restaurant is small and cozy, and the food was awesome. I will be back if business bring me here again.

I had marked these GPS coordinates months ago, making a note that Rene Anthony's was notable the highest-rated restaurant on the long drive between Dallas and Tularosa, NM. But I began to doubt myself as glimpses through the thick fog revealed no civilization, nothing but empty fields. Was there really a restaurant out here open at 5:12 a.m. or did my typically methodical road trip research contain an error? And suddenly, there it was, an oasis of an eatery standing alone in an ordinary building on the south side of the highway surrounded by nothingness. I strolled into the small dining room filled with a dozen truckers waking up to a vivid discussion about the NFL. A city slicker seemingly out of place, I was welcomed with open arms and placed my dine-in order at the register. The only breakfast option was a lengthy list of breakfast burritos, a dish I don't normally enjoy. But this was different. Chef Anthony Sanchez is making magic here. Ordering the porky pig, a massive burrito absolutely stuffed with fresh chorizo, onions, and peppers, this is pure deliciousness in the middle of nowhere!

Review #2,000!…read more OVERALL Taqueria Villa Nueva is a Mexican restaurant in Hobbs, NM that serves the best torta I've tried in the dusty small town. This is a great place for a family meal. RATING BREAKDOWN Food: 4.5 | Service: 5 | Ambiance: 4 | Price: 4 PARKING I parked near the front door but only because the place wasn't all that busy. I wish they would paint some parking lines or make it more clear where their drive-thru window begins and ends. Otherwise, it's not that far to walk with nearby street parking. LOCATION/AMBIANCE The dining room has a couple of beautiful murals inside. The buffet area was set up near the register and the kitchen. There were several different sizes of tables. They played a Spanish radio station in the background with good melodies, but way too many commercials at just before noon. THE GRUB As soon as I saw the opportunity for a torta de barbacoa ($9.99), I requested it. This Mexican sandwich was absolutely delicious. I wanted everything on it - meat, avocado, lettuce, tomato, & potatoes. This was an awesome portion for lunch. On the side was a batch of lukewarm shoestring fries which were not seasoned at all. I didn't eat many of them, so next time I will see if they will swap them fries for some arroz Mexicano! Lol. The nice lady asked me which salsa I wanted - "red or green?" I laughed and said both. She obliged. The red is definitely spicier than their green, but still I could not stop eating it. LITTLE YELPER'S CLUB No kid's menu available that I saw. There were high chairs/slings, though. SERVICE Welcoming & friendly! My takeout order was out in about 5 minutes. MY FAVORITE PART... The barbacoa! NOT SO FAVORITE PART... The fries! TIP Lunch buffet looked really good.

First time here, it's simple Sunday buffet but very delicious. The food was so flavorful. 10/10read more
